  • Post-biopsy mammogram after US-guided biopsy

    Friends,

In our practice, breast surgeons do the biopsy, which frankly works for the Radiologists, because we are already overwhelmed with the amount of work at our Breast Imaging center. One of the surgeons does not believe that he needs to do a post-biopsy mammogram if the mass was not seen in the mammogram due to dense breast tissue. I was trained that every biopsy is followed by a post-biopsy mammogram. Your thoughts please?

    Thanks

So mammographers do no procedures? Why do a fellowship?

post procedure mammo usually goes on the biopsy images, not separately billable.

Surgeon who does his own biopsies where I work also doesn’t do a post procedure mammogram. He does a 6 month follow up diagnostic. More than one way to skin a cat.
