  • Video card does choice matter

Posted by cieminsjohn on May 6, 2021 at 6:56 pm

    Hi

Does the video card matter these days?  Would a gaming video card be significantly different than an off the shelf quadro or firegl pro?   Assuming hooked up to diagnostic or HD monitor?

Use would be mostly ct/mr/us, rare x-ray

    Thanks

IMO yes. We have a lot of Barco stuff and use their card. We started getting home workstations and new stuff. Weve been getting Eizo monitors. But were still using upgraded cards. I think our base card is nvidia p2200 with like 5GB 4 DP outputs.

The only difference is that you can do other things with the gaming GPU besides radiology. Get 10 radiologists, have them try to a/b the same monitor on two different video cards on any modality — I will bet you $1000 not a single one does better than chance.
