  • Timing of certifying exam, if currently NON-ESIR IR residentfellow graduating 2022.

I am having a hard time finding information on ABR website.  I am under the impression you can take your certifying exam 2 years after passing you CORE exam and 1 year after finishing your radiology residency. But I am confused on timing if you are non-ESIR IR resident doing 2 years. If I am completing my fellowship/residency in 2022, can I still take my certifying exam in 2021 and my oral IR boards after I finish my residency/fellowship?

There is no 2 year waiting period after CORE. It doesnt matter when you passed CORE. You can take certifying exam 12 months after graduating residency, and have passed CORE. So to the original post, you can take certifying 2021 during your 2nd year of IR

If I am non-ESIR graduating 2022 and I wait until Sept 2022 to take a certifying exam, can I still take the regular DR certifying exam in 2022 or am I forced to take the IR/DR written certifying exam at that point? Obviously have to take oral component regardless but just wondering about written portion.

Do you guys recommend a specific source for studying? What modules you’re taking?
