  • Recommendations for software for Patients to Self-Schedule

Posted by dianay.sanchez on September 21, 2020 at 5:21 am

Anyone use a vendor to integrate with their RIS that allows patients to schedule their own appointments online?  We are looking to demo a few. Thanks!

Are you sure you want to do this? It’s fraught with a bunch of potential issues…not the least of which is someone over the age of 60 actually knowing just what they are doing (and yes I am over 60 as well).

I would consider having them making the schedule available to see what days and times are available but then contacting the office to perform the actual  scheduling.  Up to you.

OpenDr is pretty great. where I’ve seen it in practice they have put in pretty tight guardrails that really help ensure patients don’t schedule anything crazy. Most folks also start slow, with screeners, etc.

A self scheduling patient is a nightmare. They will schedule themselves for a non-contast elbow, when their doctor really orderd a contrast enhanced brain. Your reschedules will go off the chart.
