  • KVM switch issue

Posted by susquam on January 8, 2021 at 7:46 am

I posted this in the main forum as well but might have better luck here.

When I switch between computer towers everything gets minimized. Anyone know of a fix?

In more detail when I switch even if it is rapid and five seconds later the monitors are asleep and the pacs that I was running is minimized. I have to shake the mouse to wake up the monitors and then reposition the pacs display across all the monitors.

Not sure about the minimize.. but for the sleep portion change the USB settings to not go to sleep.
    Go to Device Manager
Go to Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Go through each USB HUB and right click and go to power management and uncheck all the computer to turn off this device to save power.
It might not hurt to also update the drivers for each USB HUB listed

If that doesnt work, it could be that because your KVM doesnt have edid emulation, your computer thinks that the monitors are disconnected when your switch to another machine.
Edid emulation spoofs the computer that the monitors are still connected when you have switched to another machine.
If that is the issue then you will either need a KVM that does edid emulation (only the ConnectPro seem the reliably all have it) or you need to buy edid emulator adapters.
You can see examples of edid emulation KVMs as well as the adaptors at [link]https://connectpro.com[/link]
