Non ACGME fellowships have no power over you
For Non ACGME fellowships like MSK, body, etc what’s stopping fellows from telling the program they don’t want to take call or work on weekends? It seems to me that too often the programs are abusing the fellow’s schedules, some of them don’t even have protected time for lunch conference. I really do feel like a slave here at my program, with attending credentials but being treated like the program’s b*tch.
If they are so desperate for cheap (basically attending) labor, what’s stopping a fellow from telling the program they’re not going to work any weekends? Some work is better than no work for them right?
I am only feeling this way because I feel like I don’t need my program, and I got my job through personal connections already. So i don’t really care what they do to me. I don’t care if i have the fellowship credentials or not at this point. Tired of this exploitation. I want to tell them i’m not showing up to these weekend shifts, take it or leave it
