I thought this was a certification for nonradiologists to sell themselves as vascular US experts? I doubt there’s any advantage to it as a rad. There’s a vascular surgeon who has this certification who just signs off whatever the tech’s impression was in my area.

Vascular surgeons and cardiologists use RPVI to take over vascular ultrasound and they have been successful in many markets. IR should be more active in the area of vascular imaging.

Yeah I agree with this. No VSurg or ICard is going to have strong background training in imaging than an IR. I think rads as a whole should really be more active in vascular ultrasound. Does this mean going for the RPVI though? I don’t see how for an imaging based specialty though how it would add much.

It’d be like a vascular surgeon getting a specific certification for a single surgical procedure.
