This Administration brings quotes of Hannah Arendt to mind in very uncomfortable ways – too close to reality.

One of the greatest advantages of the totalitarian elites of the twenties and thirties was to turn any statement of fact into a question of motive.
Hannah Arendt, [link=https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/23497]The Origins of Totalitarianism[/link]

Trump and his followers do this every time, saying Mueller had it in for Trump.

The aim of totalitarian education has never been to instill convictions but to destroy the capacity to form any.
         Hannah Arendt

What convictions exist for the Republican Party and Conservatives anymore?

Before mass leaders seize the power to fit reality to their lies, their propaganda is marked by its extreme contempt for facts as such, for in their opinion fact depends entirely on the power of man who can fabricate it.
Hannah Arendt, [link=https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/23497]The Origins of Totalitarianism[/link]

The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction (i.e., the reality of experience) and the distinction between true and false (i.e., the standards of thought) no longer exist.
Hannah Arendt, [link=https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/23497]The Origins of Totalitarianism[/link]

And we have “Alternate Acts” today care of Trump and KellyAnne and  FOX State News and all of Trump’s supporters.

You have no facts. You can’t even state them. Just bad words and pejoratives.

Trump is innocent until proven guilty. He committed no crimes. He did nothing wrong. These are facts. In your mind, non-fact based, you can claim all you want, but it means nothing except damage to yourself and your country by lying about it all.

Russia didn’t affect the election 1 iota. I can name several countries that did, now and in the past. You seem to think the Clinton Global Initiative didn’t spend and influence 1000-fold whatever any other petty claim you make, and they were given foreign money, time and again for years.

The totalitarianism is not obeying a duly elected president’s orders. Yes, you are wrong about every topic you write about.

I don’t believe 1 thing in the Mueller Report because the biggest example given, DNC hacking, was [i][b]not [/b][/i]done by Russians. [b]This is known.[/b]

As in the unlawful persecution of Mr. Hatfill, in the anthrax case (costing the government over 5 million in damages) run by Mr. Mueller, he is totally mistaken — and yet again unrepentant.

Mr. Mueller is part of the Totalitarian attempt to take down a duly elected president. That you think the president is the problem just shows you how deranged and soiled your point of view is.

Since it’s a farce and waste of time, I’d advise Manafort to flee the country in the case of such madness. Shouldn’t be too hard for him.

Exactly how many people was Maria Butina “romantically” involved with?

Yeah, they are all looking for the “Deep State,” too dumb to realize their “Deep State” was stupidity and existed in Russia under Putin. All it takes is a pretty girl to tickle their fancy a bit.

The CEO of Overstock.com resigned Thursday, saying he was far too controversial after disclosing he had aided a deep state investigation tied to the 2016 election and was romantically involved with a Russian agent.

Though patriotic Americans are writing me in support, my presence may affect and complicate all manner of business relationships, he told shareholders in a letter Thursday. Thus, while I believe that I did what was necessary for the good of the country, for the good of the firm, I am in the sad position of having to sever ties with Overstock.

Byrne confirmed in [link=http://investors.overstock.com/news-releases/news-release-details/overstockcom-releases-letter-shareholders-ceo-patrick-m-byrne]a company news release[/link] last week that he had been romantically involved with Russian agent Maria Butina, who is in prison for allegedly plotting to gain access to the conservative elite. He also said he had been aiding federal authorities, whom he refereed to as the Men in Black,” since 2015 in their Clinton investigation and Russia investigation. He was not specific about his role.

Shares of [link=http://overstock.com/]Overstock.com[/link] fell 36 percent following those disclosures. On Thursday, shares jumped more than 9 percent.

      [link=https://www.businessinsider.com/spies-react-trump-g7-summit-russian-asset-2019-8]https://www.businessinsid…t-russian-asset-2019-8[/link]
[*]”It’s hard to see the bar anymore since it’s been pushed so far down the last few years, but President Trump’s behavior over the weekend was a new low,” one FBI agent who works in counterintelligence told Insider.[*]At the summit, Trump aggressively lobbied for Russia to be readmitted into the G7, refused to hold it accountable for violating international law, blamed former President Barack Obama for Russia’s annexation of Crimea, and expressed sympathy for Russian President Vladimir Putin.[*]One former senior Justice Department official, who worked closely with the former special counsel Robert Mueller when he was the FBI director, told Insider Trump’s behavior was “directly out of the Putin playbook. We have a Russian asset sitting in the Oval Office.”[*]A former CIA operative told Insider the evidence is “overwhelming” that Trump is a Russian agent, but another CIA and NSA veteran said it was more likely Trump was currying favor with Putin for future business deals.[*]Meanwhile, a recently retired FBI special agent told Insider that Trump’s freewheeling and often unfounded statements make it more likely that he’s a “useful idiot” for the Russians. But “it would not surprise me in the least if the Russians had at least one asset in Trump’s inner circle.” [/ul]

Apparently someone in the Justice Dept became so alarmed that they filed a Whistleblower report on Trump as the whistleblower apparently heard something that made them extremely worried. Overheard was Trump promising some leder something.

Of course, Justice refuses to release the information and Trump says he did nothing wrong.

You know, we should let everyone out of prison because they all say they did nothing wrong. Why would they lie?

          [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/trumps-communications-with-foreign-leader-are-part-of-whistleblower-complaint-that-spurred-standoff-between-spy-chief-and-congress-former-officials-say/2019/09/18/df651aa2-da60-11e9-bfb1-849887369476_story.html]https://www.washingtonpos…49887369476_story.html[/link]

Trumps interaction with the foreign leader included a promise that was regarded as so troubling that it prompted an official in the U.S. intelligence community to file a formal whistleblower complaint with the inspector general for the intelligence community, said the former officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.

Intelligence Community Inspector General Michael Atkinson determined that the complaint was credible and troubling enough to be considered a matter of urgent concern, a legal threshold that requires notification of congressional oversight committees.

But [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/trumps-pick-for-intelligence-director-is-a-respected-special-operations-veteran/2019/08/09/f07b6f5e-bab1-11e9-b3b4-2bb69e8c4e39_story.html?tid=lk_inline_manual_9]acting director of national intelligence Joseph Maguire[/link] has refused to share details about Trumps alleged transgression with lawmakers, touching off [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/trumps-acting-intelligence-chief-told-to-turn-over-whistleblower-complaint-or-face-public-questioning-by-congress/2019/09/16/2c691f26-d893-11e9-bfb1-849887369476_story.html?tid=lk_inline_manual_9]a legal and political dispute[/link] that has spilled into public view and prompted speculation that the spy chief is improperly protecting the president.

Trumps handling of classified information has been a source of concern to U.S. intelligence officials since the outset of his presidency. In May 2017, [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/trump-revealed-highly-classified-information-to-russian-foreign-minister-and-ambassador/2017/05/15/530c172a-3960-11e7-9e48-c4f199710b69_story.html?tid=lk_inline_manual_20]Trump revealed classified information about espionage operations in Syria to senior Russian officials[/link] in the Oval Office, disclosures that prompted a scramble among White House officials to contain the potential damage.

So now Trump has admitted demanding Ukraine investigate Biden in quid pro quo as whistle blown.

Too bad after investigations, there is no there, there to Bidens corruption other than purposeful distracting lies & wishful thinking by Trump & Fox & friends.

Why would they want this investigated when they know it’ll probably knock Biden out of the running, the one moderate Democrat with a decent chance of defeating Trump? Yeah better luck in 2024 I guess.

Why would ity knock Biden out? It’s already been investigated & nothing has turned up outside of TRump’s lame equivalence and Fox & “friends” trying to make hay out of thin air.

                  Where is any evidence?

& reality is, if Biden can’t stand up to this, then another candidate can & will. Biden is not my strongest desire by a long shot but so far this is so much less than Clinton’s email and Benghazi.

                  [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/09/23/fact-checking-trumps-latest-claims-biden-ukraine/]https://www.washingtonpos…-claims-biden-ukraine/[/link]

This is one of those vast and complex stories that consume Washington but frequently confuse ordinary Americans. The Trump White House appears to be counting on that confusion to offer a fog of claims and allegations to make it appear as if Biden had done something wrong.

On top of that, Trump is arguing that because Biden said he withheld aid from Ukraine in the name of battling corruption, theres nothing wrong with Trump withholding aid from the same country in the name of fighting corruption (i.e., Biden was involved in supposedly corrupt dealings and should be investigated).

[b]But there is no equivalency here: We [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2019/05/23/fact-checking-president-trumps-wild-jabs-joe-biden/?tid=lk_inline_manual_18]fact-checked these allegations in May[/link]and found they did not add up. In fact, Bidens case has gotten stronger with time.[/b]

Biden was doing US policy. Our allies were in agreement of getting a corrupt prosecutor out of government before they got aid

                  Thats foreign policy

Now tying foreign policy to investigating your political rival …… thats not foreign policy…. thats an abuse of power

In a Biden vs Trump scenario yes I would agree this is not harmful to Biden. In a Biden vs Warren primary contest I think this hurts him. It’s all about being embroiled in controversy during the election, something Trump thrives on and the Democrats don’t. It has nothing to do with the veracity of the claims, sheeze I though the Democrats would have learned that with Hillary and her email.

I honestly don’t think Biden is in trouble with this legally, it’s a distraction. However, he is in danger of losing the primary to Warren. Biden would be seen by centrists, the ones the dems need to win 2020, as a decent “safest” choice against Trump. Biden is weak, his fundraising is half of Warrens and literally miles behind Trump. Warren is further left and not the household name Hillary or Biden are.

Yep.  See. above.  If Trump and his allies can remove the aura of “electiblity” of Biden with the primary voters then Warren or another more left candidate can win the primary.

Trump and the GOP are drooling at the opportunity to run against Warren or Bernie… not so much against Biden.

But you seemed to connect Trump’s allegations to Biden’s losing the nomination. That is a long shot, like out of the ball park into another ball park entirely, Yankee stadium into Shea stadium. Or maybe Fenway.

Warren is in my opinion an easier match for Trump, or some other Republican candidate if Trump should drop out. Since you don’t know how I voted in the last election maybe you should just stop assuming how I am going to vote.

Yep. It wasn’t the polls that were. It was the media analysis of the polls.

Nothing should be taken for granted this election. Trump won due to the snowflakes voting Democratic who were AWOL or voted for the 2 3rd party candidates because they were naive. They all took the election outcome for granted.

This election Democrats will very likely turn out but so will many Republican voters. The question is how many & where. Many Republican office holders seem to think this election will be a blue wave since so many are retiring. So thats very good news.

And younger voters who havent been consistent seem to be mobilized with climate & disgust with Trump & Republicans over female sex and other issues. Well see.

And minority voters also need to get off their hands & stand for something.

Take nothing for granted in 2020. Get out and VOTE!

Putin happy with TRump & his supporters for their work and help in Ukraine.

          [link=https://www.wsj.com/articles/as-washington-fights-over-ukraine-putin-smiles-11569851692]https://www.wsj.com/artic…tin-smiles-11569851692[/link]

President Trumps [link=https://www.wsj.com/articles/white-house-to-release-transcript-of-trumps-ukraine-call-as-impeachment-efforts-begin-11569403803?mod=searchresults&page=1&pos=23&mod=article_inline]now-famous phone call[/link] with the newly elected leader of Ukraine has not only set off an impeachment inquiry. It has provided the ultimate Rorschach test in a hyperpartisan Washington: Most Democrats say they see in the call a grave abuse of power, while most Republicans say they see absolutely nothing untoward in it.

The one person who doubtless sees only benefit, however, resides not in Washington but in Moscow. He is Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The call as revealed in the rough transcript released by the White House last week, as well as the [link=https://www.wsj.com/articles/whistleblower-is-expected-to-testify-soon-house-intelligence-committee-chairman-says-11569768797?mod=searchresults&page=1&pos=1&mod=article_inline]controversy that now surrounds it[/link], should have Mr. Putin smiling for multiple reasons.

Both of these will only add to Ukrainians feeling they are vulnerable to military pressure from Russia, which is precisely what Mr. Putin wants them to feel. Russia not only seized Crimea from Ukraine and annexed it in 2014 but remains in effective control of parts of eastern Ukraine dominated by forces friendly to it.

[b]The perception of Ukrainian vulnerability is enhanced by the passage in the transcript of the call in which the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, tells Mr. Trump that Ukraine hopes to buy more Javelin antitank missiles, which Ukraine wants badly in order to better resist any Russian armored assault. Mr. Trump doesnt promise the missiles; instead, that is the point in the call where he says, I would like for you to do us a favor.[/b]

The president then asks Mr. Zelensky to help get to the bottom of a question the Trump team has been raising repeatedly: whether Ukrainian officials might have done something to help Democrats in the 2016 election season. That inevitably will create an impression that Ukraine is less a vital national-security interest to the U.S. than simply a pawn in a messy American domestic political grudge match.

Meanwhile, the other controversy aired in the callthe one that actually has sparked the impeachment drive by House Democratsis the passage in which Mr. Trump seeks Ukraines help in looking into the actions of his main Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter.

Mr. Biden actually pushed successfully for the dismissal of the Ukrainian prosecutor on the grounds that he wasnt aggressive enough in pursuing corruption cases, and Ukrainian officials have said there is no evidence of wrongdoing by either the senior or junior Biden.

Meanwhile, [b]the whole American part of this spectaclethe nations two major political figures trading charges of corruption and abuse of power on the eve of an election campaignis extremely useful to Mr. Putins argument that Western democracy hardly offers a model of pristine, well-managed governance that his people should want to emulate.[/b]

[b]And that, in turn, is a useful argument for Mr. Putin at a time when thousands of people are in the streets of Moscow pushing for more democracy by protesting the governments banning of candidates seeking to run for the Moscow City Council.[/b]

[i][b]Perhaps the most important benefit for Mr. Putin, however, is simply this: His goal for years now has been to sow discord and division within the U.S., and thereby weaken America at home and on the world stage. On that front, and thanks to the Ukraine controversy and the impeachment fight now unfolding, things are working nicely for him right now.[/b][/i]

          [i][b][/b][/i]

[h1]DNI Dan Coats Thought Putin Had Something on Trump[/h1]
Former director of national intelligence Dan Coats could not shake his deep suspicions that Russian President Vladimir Putin had something on President Trump, seeing no other explanation for the presidents behavior, according to Bob Woodwards new book [link=https://amzn.to/3bGQmg2][i]Rage[/i][/link], which was obtained by [link=https://www.cnn.com/2020/09/09/politics/bob-woodward-rage-book-trump-coronavirus/index.html]CNN[/link].

Coats and his staff examined the intelligence regarding Trumps ties to Russia as carefully as possible and that he still questions the relationship between Trump and Putin despite the apparent absence of intelligence proof.

[link=https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/635379/american-kompromat-by-craig-unger/]American Kompromat: How the KGB Cultivated Donald Trump, and Related Tales of Sex, Greed, Power, and Treachery[/link]

    From [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/piling-up-incriminating-information-about-trumps-russian-connections/2021/01/28/a0b53b80-5029-11eb-bda4-615aaefd0555_story.html]The Washington Post[/link]’s review:

[blockquote] Unger alleges that Trumps long-standing ties to Russian organized crime, his lifestyle and his business practices made him uniquely vulnerable to blackmail and extortion by the country that is unarguably the best in the world at those dark arts. His campaign team with its own unusual shady ties to Russia was willing to work with a hostile foreign power and eager to accept material stolen from Americans. None went to the authorities to report the illicit contacts, and many of them were subsequently arrested. When the issue of Russian involvement surfaced publicly, every single one of them lied and covered up their actions. Trump then attacked the very institutions that could hold him to account and sought to obstruct investigations, eventually pardoning anyone who could provide evidence of wrongdoing. Even Trumps most fervent supporters have been unable to provide an innocent explanation for why a domestic political campaign would need such deep engagement with a hostile foreign power.
    [/blockquote]

And an even more interesting take in The Guardian:
[link=https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2021/jan/29/trump-russia-asset-claims-former-kgb-spy-new-book]The perfect target: Russia cultivated Trump as asset for 40 years ex-KGB spy[/link]

[blockquote] Unger describes how Trump first appeared on the Russians radar in 1977 when he married his first wife, [link=https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-ivana-donald-ivanka-trump-russia-communism-czech-republic-721669]Ivana Zelnickova,[/link] a Czech model. Trump became the target of a spying operation overseen by Czechoslovakias intelligence service in cooperation with the KGB.

    ***
Then, in 1987, Trump and Ivana [link=https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/11/19/trump-first-moscow-trip-215842]visited Moscow and St Petersburg[/link] for the first time. Shvets said he was fed KGB talking points and flattered by KGB operatives who floated the idea that he should go into politics. The ex-major recalled: For the KGB, it was a charm offensive. They had collected a lot of information on his personality so they knew who he was personally. The feeling was that he was extremely vulnerable intellectually, and psychologically, and he was prone to flattery.

    ***
Soon after he returned to the US, Trump began exploring a run for the Republican nomination for president and even held a campaign rally in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. On 1 September, he [link=https://apnews.com/article/05133dbe63ace98766527ec7d16ede08]took out a full-page advert[/link] in the New York Times, Washington Post and Boston Globe headlined: Theres nothing wrong with Americas Foreign Defense Policy that a little backbone cant cure.

The paper refers to certain events that happened during Trumps trips to Moscow. Security council members are invited to find details in appendix five, at paragraph five, the document states. It is unclear what the appendix contains.

[b]Trump Says There Is Love Behind Putins War  [/b]
    [b][/b]
Former President Donald Trump [link=https://www.newsweek.com/trump-says-lot-love-behind-putin-wanting-make-his-country-larger-1687555]told Jeanine Pirro[/link] there is a lot of love behind Russian President Vladimir Putins efforts to make his country larger.

Said Trump: You say, whats the purpose of this? They had a country. You could see it was a country where there was a lot of love and were doing it because, you know, somebody wants to make his country larger or he wants to put it back the way it was when actually it didnt work very well.

[b]Trump sues Hillary Clinton, DNC over Russian collusion allegations[/b][/h1]

“Acting in concert, the Defendants maliciously conspired to weave a false narrative that their Republican opponent, Donald J. Trump, was colluding with a hostile foreign sovereignty,” [link=https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.flsd.610157/gov.uscourts.flsd.610157.1.0.pdf]a 108-page complaint filed Thursday said[/link].

The actions taken in furtherance of their scheme falsifying evidence, deceiving law enforcement, and exploiting access to highly-sensitive data sources are so outrageous, subversive and incendiary that even the events of Watergate pale in comparison.

The complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, claims that the former president has suffered at least $24 million in damages in addition to the loss of present and future business due to Clinton, the DNC and others.

Yeah.  The Clinton team could go that way.  Most likely they will move for immediate dismissal (and likely get it).  But they could counter-sue and try to get fast discovery.

In that circumstance, Trump quietly drops the lawsuit because [b]no way[/b] does he allow himself to be deposed.

(But he doesn’t drop the suit until he’s fundraised a few million dollars from the rubes over “Crooked Hillary”)

During the war with Ukraine as the entire world seeks to make Vladimir Putin a pariah .

[b]Trump calls on Putin to release dirt on Hunter Biden[/b]
Its the latest example of the former president soliciting foreign governments to intervene to damage his domestic political rivals.

Trumps remarks, in an interview with discredited far-right journalist John Solomon, were published Tuesday by the Just the News television show on the Real Americas Voice network.

In making his claims about Hunter Biden, Trump cited the findings of a controversial, highly politicized investigation by Senate Republicans into the Bidens, which was published just weeks before the 2020 election and produced little new evidence of wrongdoing.

Trump has repeatedly promoted dubious claims of foreign business dealings by Hunter Biden, specifically alleging that he received millions of dollars from the wife of Moscows late mayor, Yury Luzhkov.

At the end of Donald Trumps presidency, his team returned a large batch of classified FBI documents and other government records to the Justice Department in such disarray that a year later in a letter to lawmakers the department said it still couldnt tell which of the documents were the classified ones, [link=https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/trumps-day-office-sensitive-documents-allegedly-disarray/story?id=90989613]ABC News[/link] reports.

The documents came from the FBIs controversial probe in 2016 looking at alleged links between Russia and Trumps presidential campaign. Trump tried to make the documents public the night before he left office, issuing a declassification memo and secretly meeting with conservative writer John Solomon, who was allowed to review the documents.

But for reasons that are still not clear and to the great frustration of Trump and his political allies none of the documents were ever officially released.

It’s not a matter os “useful,” it’s all a matter of “his documents,” or form his POV, “MY documents.”

This is a test to see if and how far Executive Priv lasts for presidents who are now private citizens. The Supremes will decide, and with Trump as the person who is the ex, not a Democrat.

[b]Trump sues Hillary Clinton, DNC over Russian collusion allegations[/b]

          How it’s going

[b]Trump and Lawyer sanctioned $1million for frivolous lawsuit against Hillary Clinton[/b]

          [b][link=https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.cnbc.com%2F2023%2F01%2F20%2Ftrump-and-lawyers-sanctioned-almost-1-million-for-frivolous-lawsuit-against-hillary-clinton.html]https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/20/trum…y-clinton.html[/link][/b]

A federal judge on Thursday imposed nearly $1 million in sanctions on former President Donald Trump and his lawyer for filing a since-dismissed frivolous lawsuit against Hillary Clinton and many others, which had claimed they tried to rig the 2016 presidential election in her favor by smearing Trump.

We are confronted with a lawsuit that should never have been filed, which was completely frivolous, both factually and legally, and which was brought in bad faith for an improper purpose, wrote Judge John Middlebrooks in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida in his order sanctioning Trump.

The judge in his order noted that Mr. Trump is a prolific and sophisticated litigant who is repeatedly using the courts to seek revenge on political adversaries.

I was reading about that yesterday.  What is Alina getting from TRump that makes it worth crapping away your law career and dignity?  She probably let him go for a ride before she got promoted to the CEO of whatever grift he put her in charge of.

I kind of think that’s the photo I recall when she got promoted.  but yeah I never really thought of that until you mentioned it.  SHe looks very Melania.

Mind you the whole fake Melania was wild.  Because it was really obvious they were using fake Melania.

Here’s what I’m thinking of.  Senior role in MAGA PAC.  She’s not a bad looking Dame.

This new story about the FBI director arrested for working for the oligarch is right out of a spy novel. Same FBI person that said nothing happened with Trump/ Russia. Just mind boggling.

The court of appeals has *rejected* an effort by DOJ to block the deposition of Donald Trump in a lawsuit brought by @petestrzok against DOJ/FBI over the circumstances of his termination.

now must sit for a deposition

[link=https://www.newsweek.com/trump-trusts-putin-intelligence-lowlife-1777537][b] Donald Trump Says He Trusts Putin More Than U.S. Intelligence ‘Lowlifes’   [/b]
    [/link]
“Remember in Helsinki when a 3rd rate reporter asked me, essentially, who I trusted more, President Putin of Russia, or our ‘Intelligence’ lowlifes,” Trump said in the Truth Social post.

“My instinct at the time was that we had really bad people in the form of [link=https://www.newsweek.com/topic/james-comey]James Comey[/link], McCabe (whose wife was being helped out by Crooked Hillary while Crooked was under investigation!), Brennan, Peter Strzok (whose wife is at the SEC) & his lover, Lisa Page.”

“Now add McGonigal & other slime to the list. Who would you choose, Putin or these Misfits?”
