New Yorks banking regulator has asked Deutsche Bank AG and a pair of local lenders to provide information about their relationships with Jared Kushner, his family and the Kushner Cos., according to people familiar with the matter.
The states Department of Financial Services sent letters to Deutsche Bank, Signature Bank and New York Community Bank last week, said one of the people, who described the letter. Seeking a response by March 5, the DFS asked about the banks relationships with Kushner and his business properties, as well as documents and communications about certain loan requests.
The broad request, which also covers the banks processes for approving loans, comes from Maria Vullo, the departments superintendent, who was appointed by New Yorks Democratic governor, Andrew Cuomo.

In fairness, it did seem that Kushner was being hailed by some as being a great middle-man for ME dialogue. For what reason? As far as I know, he’s the mediocre son of a real estate developer who spent time in jail. And we never voted for him to be in a position of influence in the White House.

The attorneys in a letter to The Lincoln Project complained about one billboard showing Trump, a senior adviser to her father, smiling and gesturing next to figures showing over 33,000 New Yorkers and 221,000 Americans have died from the coronavirus. The lawyers also cited a billboard featuring Kushner, another senior White House adviser, next to body bags and an unrelated 2019 quote from before the pandemic in which he said New Yorkers would suffer.
I am writing concerning the false, malicious and defamatory ads that the Lincoln Project is displaying on billboards in Times Square, wrote attorney Mark Kasowitz. If these billboards are not immediately removed, we will sue you for what will doubtless be enormous compensatory and punitive damages.

Jared Kushner, Trumps son-in-law and chief adviser on the negotiations, embraced Netanyahu and MBS but grew increasingly antagonistic toward the Jordanian king. It became a belief of Trump that the king was a hindrance to the peace process, says one former senior CIA official. While Trump, Netanyahu and MBS dont appear to have been working to overthrow the king, their actions clearly weakened him and encouraged his enemies.
Trumps campaign for normalization of Arab relations with Israel was laudable. It yielded the so-called Abraham Accords that forged new links between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. But the prize Trump and Kushner wanted most was Saudi Arabia and to clear the way, they tried to muscle Jordan, for decades one of the United States closest Arab allies.
Now the winds have shifted: Trump has left office, and Netanyahu appears to be on his way out. Jordan is back in favor, and Abdullahs advisers say he will visit the White House this summer, the first Arab leader to meet personally with President Biden. MBS is in limbo with the Biden administration and still awaiting a presidential phone call or invitation.
