[b]Cracker Barrel sparks uproar for plant-based sausage critics say is ‘woke'[/b]

On Monday, the chain posted on Facebook about a plant-based sausage made by Impossible Foods that’ Cracker Barrel had added to breakfast menus earlier this summer. The post sparked strong reactions from its followers, with many complaining that Cracker Barrel should not be offering the meat alternative.

“I just lost respect for a once great Tennessee company,” one person commented. Another comment said: “Not going to happen! Cracker Barrel used to be so good, we looked forward to eating in them but not anymore,” while another person wrote “bad choice.” Others expressed skepticism that the product would taste good. Several commenters decried the “woke” addition to the menu.

[b]Blake Masters Wants to Fire All Generals b/c They are “Woke”[/b][/h1]
Blake Masters, the Republican nominee for Senate in Arizona, has repeatedly said the U.S. should clean house on the senior ranks of the military, pushing the claim that all the generals and admirals are woke and left-wing losers whove never won a war, [link=https://www.vice.com/en/article/dy7xp7/blake-masters-military-generals-conservatives]Vice News[/link] reports.

Said Masters, on leaked audio: Your entire general class, theyre left-wing politicians at this point. Its very hard to become a general without being some kind of left-of-center politician.

He added: I would love to see all the generals get fired. You take the most conservative colonels, you promote them to general. Not because the ideology is important, but because the conservative colonels will be able to leave the ideology aside. They just care about an effective fighting force.

[b]CPAC Head ad Corporate Lobbyist Matt Schlapp urges Republicans to avoid “Woke” corporations

    [/b]

Specifically, Schlapp has asked current and prospective Republican leaders to “[p]ledge that you will not meet with these CEOs or their leadership teams, especially their Government Affairs staff, who have been hostile to policies that help all Americans until they change their ways.”

Which corporations have gone “woke”? Schlapp says the group includes any corporation that supported the “BLM [Black Lives Matter] movement.” He links to an article specifically blasting Walmart for its allegedly “woke” policies. And Schlapp says companies that pledged to cut off donations to Republicans who voted to overturn the 2020 election qualify as “woke” those companies include his former clients Verizon, Abbott Labs, and Comcast.

Schlapp says that Republican leaders could resume meetings with corporations once they renounce “woke politics.” If Republican leaders agree to his demands, Schlapp would be uniquely positioned to help corporations regain access. What better way to demonstrate that you have repudiated “woke politics” than hiring Cove Strategies to represent you? [/QUOTE]

[b]GOP Candidate Claims Kids Use Litter Boxes in School because they “Identify as Cats”[/b][/h1]

Scott Jensen (R), who is running for governor of Minnesota, [link=https://www.facebook.com/sharon.petersen.31/videos/786645245906287/]repeated last week a bizarre hoax claim[/link] which has been debunked that children are being told they can identify as anthropomorphic cats and are being allowed to use litter boxes to urinate in schools, [link=https://www.cnn.com/2022/10/03/politics/scott-jennings-minnesota-schools-cat-litter-box/index.html]CNN[/link] reports.

Said Jensen: But what about education? What are we doing to our kids? Why are we telling elementary kids that they get to choose their gender this week? Why do we have litter boxes in some of the school districts so kids can pee in them, because they identify as a furry? Weve lost our minds. Weve lost our minds.

I wish it was a bizarre hoax, but we do have a handful ‘antropomorphic dogs’ and ‘antropromorphic cats’ in our local school district. I haven’t heard about any litterboxes, but they only respond by barking or meowing when addressed by school staff.
In their case its not even mental illness. It’s just oppositional defiant teenagers who have figured out that the the school can’t do a thing to force them to participate in class. The school district has decided that it is less disruptive to have them walk around in the school with the leash around their neck than it would be to remove them and deal with the lawsuits.
The good news is that todays teenagers have managed to navigate this world of mental illness and deviant behavior. They know how to dodge the pronoun police by just addressing teachers and other students with straight up first names. If you dont use a pronoun, you can’t use the wrong one. They encounter a ‘cat’ or a ‘dog’ in the school they just ignore them.

    The world has gone nuts.

To respond to some above – I don’t have any issues with my kid getting exposed to real world realities, including the entire LBTQIA+ spectrum…Just don’t think telling kids they can choose pronouns at 3 (or even much older) makes any sense. Nor does starting kids on hormone therapy for a sex change prior to puberty.

It’s gone so far with our school – they can’t even celebrate holidays because it makes certain kids isolated. So we have no halloween decorations, no christmas treats, no hannukah, no eid, nothing. Totally non denominational. No santa. It’s crazy. (and i’m not even christian for what it’s worth).

Thanksgiving decorations even make certain teachers ‘ uncomfortable’ so that’s been tabled in exchange for other ‘fall activities’

I am sure they can celebrate all of that in their homes. I would NOT want my kid to partake in ANY religious activity. God is not real .Climate change is real.

And religion is made up and is the biggest business in the world. You want to shield your children from it and introduce them to climate change, something that will affect their lives more than us. The popes eons before drank the best wine in Italy and had the most lavish parties, one trip to Italy will confirm this for you.

How many cat or dog children do you know. I know of none.  The conspiracy theorists now rule the world.

But dont a lot of kids do weird stuff for short periods of time

Maybe a lot of this is more of a symptom of helicopter parenting trying to make everything in their kids world right instead of just letting their kid figure out the world themselves

Not every kid will grow up to be a dog or cat or a pronoun

They will just find theyre niche and grow up

[b]Playing to Western Discord, Putin Says Russia Is Battling Strange Elites[/b][/h1]

Many of the Russian leaders themes were familiar, but they took on particular resonance given the coming midterm elections in the United States and growing discontent in Europe over the costs of the war.

There are at least two Wests, Mr. Putin said.

One, he said, is a West of traditional, mainly Christian values for which Russians feel kinship. But, he said, theres another West aggressive, cosmopolitan, neocolonial, acting as the weapon of the neoliberal elite, and trying to impose its pretty strange values on everyone else. He peppered his remarks with references to dozens of genders and gay parades.

Multiple media organization have reached a settlement with Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin to get access to his “Critical Race Theory” Tip Line —

        [h3][link=https://www.axios.com/2022/11/03/youngkin-school-tip-line-emails]Glenn Youngkin’s school tip line emails, revealed – Axios[/link][/h3]

Axios received 350 tip line emails from the Youngkin administration this week as part of a legal settlement with a coalition of news organizations who sued for access to the records.

The cache is a portion of the [link=https://www.businessinsider.com/tiktokers-spamming-virginia-youngkin-critical-race-theory-tip-line-2022-1]thousands of emails[/link] the administration received. Per the settlement, Youngkin turned over only messages that were also sent to the Department of Education.

While incomplete, the documents offer the first window into the concerns some state residents hoped Youngkin would address.

        [/QUOTE]

[link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/11/03/youngkin-education-tip-line-emails/]Youngkin’s education tip line gripes: ‘Beowulf,’ masks and ‘grooming’

        [/link]

All my teacher wants to talk about is how the book is sexist because it portrays the warriors as men and not women, the student wrote Jan. 30 to the teacher tip line that Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) had just set up to banish divisive concepts from public education. I believe my teacher is in violation of Governor Youngkins Executive Order which prohibits the teaching of divisive topics.

Many of the tips released this week reflect the K-12 culture wars that were central to Youngkins closing argument in last years campaign, when he criticized Democrats for extended school closures and mask mandates amid the coronavirus pandemic and accused school authorities of trying to indoctrinate students on matters of race.

One parent complained about a reading assignment that was sympathetic to immigrants. Another raised alarm about free online tutoring offered by a local school district, seeing it as a potential path for unknown perverts to prey on students. Some voiced concern that the concept of gender identity was included in the family life curriculum.
A Spotsylvania mother called for seven books to be pulled from school libraries, writing: These books are, in my opinion, making children desensitized to healthy sexual relationships and are grooming in nature.

[/link](wants to expand the Civil Rights Act to prevent employees from being fired for expressing political beliefs)
    [h1][/h1]

If companies face liability when employees express such views, suppressing them is a prudent policy. Corporate explanations for speech prohibitions often say so explicitly: When Goodyear faced backlash for telling employees that Blue Lives Matter and Make America Great Again shirts were prohibited but Black Lives Matter shirts were acceptable, the company [link=https://corporate.goodyear.com/us/en/media/news/a-message-from-goodyear-to-our-customers-partners-and-associates.html]claimed[/link] it needed to keep its work environment free of any forms of harassment or discrimination. When [link=https://www.wsj.com/market-data/quotes/LUV]Southwest Airlines[/link] fired a flight attendant who made antiabortion posts on [link=https://www.wsj.com/market-data/quotes/META]Facebook[/link], it [link=https://www.bloomberglaw.com/public/desktop/document/CartervTranspWorkersUnionofAmLocal556No317CV2278S2019BL33678NDTex?1657513231]asserted[/link] that she might have violated its anti-sexual-harassment policy.

The laws prohibiting race and sex discrimination have turned into engines not only of suppression but of compulsion. A professor at the University of North Texas was fired, he alleged in a [link=https://www.thefire.org/research-learn/nathaniel-hiers-v-university-north-texas]lawsuit[/link], for refusing to affirm a viewthe concept of microaggressionswith which he disagreed, in a judges paraphrase. A Texas hospital [link=https://www.wsj.com/articles/fired-from-my-nursing-job-for-refusing-to-say-im-racist-kentucky-michigan-implicit-bias-training-healthcare-fairness-11664551932?mod=article_inline]fired[/link] a nurse for objecting to a mandatory course that required her to admit she is racist because she is white.

Free-marketeers argue that businesses should be free to set workplace conditions and to hire and fire as they please. But for many companies, a prohibition on viewpoint discrimination would come as a liberation, not a restraint. Numerous CEOs of major corporations have told us in private that they dont want to be part of cancel cultureor participate in culture wars at all. They dont want to force an ideology into their workplace; they feel compelled to act because of pressure from activists and employees, backed by the threat of hostile-workplace litigation.

These people treating wokeness like the new [link=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N35IugBYH04]McCarthyism[/link] arent really the victims they are so desperate to paint themselves as. It is damn near poetic that they are trying to enshrine the right to be a bigot by modeling it off of the Civil Rights Act a body of law that theyd likely describe as being woke and that grew from a body of law that is actively being dismantled as time goes on. Where was this talk of discrimination when [link=https://www.lawyerscommittee.org/gutting-section-2-of-the-voting-rights-act-would-allow-racial-discrimination-to-run-unchecked/]Section 2 of the Voting Right Act got cut at the knees[/link]?

I think that Paul Clement got one thing right when he said that part of the reason that Biglaw is adopting different stances is because their clientele is changing. Part of the explanation of the software company that fired TikTok bro was that they did not want him to be a representative of the company. The fact is employee speech matters to force companies to employ vocal employees whose speech does not align with their values amounts to compelled speech. Youd think that the people who are up in arms about censorship on Twitter would have some respect for actual First Amendment issues. Pay more attention to your customer base.[/QUOTE]

      Here–
      [link]https://www.thisamericanlife.org/783/transcript[/link]

The district, Jefferson County School District, is home to Columbine High School. Schools in the Jefferson district have cat litter in case they have to go into lockdown during a school shooting. The litter is part of their overall plan if there is an active shooter situation. They have litter and buckets so kids have somewhere to pee, somewhere that’s not in a bottle, in a closet.

They’ve kept cat litter on hand for years, along with candy for diabetic students, a map of the school, flashlights, wet wipes, and first aid items. The litter boxes are about school shootings.

I don’t know. I just keep thinking about the hours we’ve spent talking about kitty litter and the money that went into making this non-issue a series of talking points on top of other non-issues that also became talking points about where kids pee in school, when in America, [b] we don’t have a problem of kids saying they’re cats and being provided with litter boxes. What we have are adults who have accepted that school shootings will continue to happen, and they’re preparing.[/b] What we have, which kids will tell you, is an actual problem, actual threats, actual fear, actual trauma, actual deaths.

Red wave ended up being a red trickle. Likely because of Roe v Wade issue. Supreme court should not have touched that and let it remain as it was. Funny that despite the abortion issue energizing voters to come out, republicans still won the house. It seems voters are tired of woke nonsense and the inflationary policies of the dems. And enough of them arent one issue voters so repubs still won

Im thankful for split control of congress on this thanksgiving. I think both parties should work out their issues during this time and expell the far right and far left troublemakers.

If someone gives people money when they need it due to a crisis, thats good policy. If someone keeps doing that despite the stock market being at all time highs, savings at all time highs, credit card debt at lows, unemployment low etc that is useless, moronic and inflationary.

And PPE was a total handout to many people who didnt need it and abused it

Hello Trumps business even stole PPE money for crying out loud- but thats ok

                Thats totally on trump

But its only inflation if the other guy is getting free money

So youre saying biden should or shouldnt double down on something that is inflationary? Note I didnt say what Trump did wasnt inflationary, just that it made sense as good policy at the time and had bipartisan support. Yes what he did was inflationary too. But to double down on free money when it isnt needed is like adding fuel to the fire.

PPE was a nightmare and rife with corruption no doubt. Im not going to dispute that

          Quote from sartoriusBIG

Im thankful for split control of congress on this thanksgiving.

I’m fine with that. There are many worse things for Democrats than a weak Speaker McCarthy with a razor thin majority held hostage by the right wing nutjobs. It will give a constant nice 2-year reminder to the American voters  heading into 2024 just what a clusterf*ck the Republican party is and why they shouldn’t be allowed to lead

I think both parties should work out their issues during this time and expell the far right and far left troublemakers.

The false equivalency here is that the Democratic party doesn’t really have troublemakers.  Despite a narrow majority, Nancy Pelosi was able to wrangle the progressive Left into supporting pretty much everything Joe Biden did, giving him the most successful democratic legislative session since LBJ. Biden already got just about everything he was going to get without blowing up the Senate legislative filibuster anyway.

          ….

AOC , Pramila Jayapal, even Ilhan Omar are simply not the left-wing equivalent of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gaetz, Lauren Boebert and the rest of the “go ahead, burn it all down to the ground, that’s what the base wants anyway” Freedom Caucus folks.

Maybe the GOP House will prove me wrong and demonstrate calm, reasoned and nimble leadership … but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Omar has been labeled an anti-semite and they want to strip her of some committee responsibilities.

There are most definitely nutjobs on both sides. Saying otherwise just makes you look hyperpartisan. Im tired of the trumpers personally. If the GOP can take back the party from the Trumpers and the Dems remain guided by nutjobs on the left, the Democratic Party would be in big trouble

And Jayapal? It seems she would just hand over Ukraine territory to the Russians if give the chance. Also some nutjob Republicans that would probably be the same. USA is supposed to stand up for what is right. If we dont then everyone else will cower in fear and let Russian slowly take back their USSR territory, one country at a time.

The money spent on Ukraine assistance is the best money ever spent militarily. No American lives are lost and the Russian military will be crippled for decades to come if not forever.

Sure. But at the end of the day, Jayapal did indeed to vote to fund Ukraine so that the Democratic party-supported legislative package could pass. Her statements amounted to little at all outside of the political chattering debate.

          That’s the difference.

Like I said, maybe the MTGs will prove me wrong and get in line to pass CRs and prevent shut-downs without demanding that McCarthy bring impeachment articles to the floor … we’ll see.

Personally I think PPE as it was sold to the American public was reasonable at the time

But it was abused by wealthy people and politicians including the trump family and was the source of so much fraud that it was likely the absolute worse piece of legislation in my lifetime

And it was absolutely definitely inflationary

    [link=https://www.rawstory.com/roger-stone-2658786332/]Roger Stone can’t find a  vodka that isn’t woke[/link]

Longtime GOP dirty trickster and Trump confidante Roger Stone is having difficulty with the politics of alcohol. On his podcast on Friday, Stone explained he was ditching Stolichnaya after a label announced the company supported Ukraine after it was invaded by Russia.

“That means the people who make Stolichnaya vodka support child sex trafficking, money laundering … and the arming of actual Nazis on the ground in Ukraine,” Stone alleged.

“As for Stolichnaya, I will never drink another sip of their swill,” he vowed. “And therefore, I’m going all-American, Titos, made in Austin, Texas, is my new brand.”

One day later, Titos was no longer Stone’s new brand.

“I decided to switch to American-made Tito’s until I learned that they sponsored a drag queen show. Now I have no choice but to use Russian Standard Vodka in my extra dry Martinis.”

Looks like people actually want corporations to be “woke”

[b]Measuring Trust in Business and Consumer Demand for International Corporate Activism

    [/b]

Consumers are demanding new and different kinds of corporate activism. In a world where trust in institutions has been on the retreat and ethical consumerism on the rise, people increasingly look to companies to take action on important geopolitical issues like addressing climate change and cybersecurity, human rights, and forced labor.

[b]Majorities of adults in all 17 countries say they prefer to buy from brands that reflect their social values. [/b]The United States joins Japan and the United Kingdom near the bottom, with 61% of U.S. adults expressing a preference for values-based purchasing. Chinese adults currently top the list at 76% in favor.

[b]U.S. consumers desire for CEOs to speak out on global issues is slowly rising.[/b] Over the last six months, the share of U.S. consumers who say they want CEOs to do so has grown across various issue areas. Consumers are particularly avid about corporate leaders speaking up on issues that are central to their business operations, like cyberthreats and labor practices. The share of U.S. adults indicating they would like CEOs to speak out on foreign terrorism has also seen a 9 percentage point increase since May 2022.

Verge. Although I will admit to a slight amount of pleasure watching you walk into the trap. Of course it gives you no thought so you win by taking the time to post.

It would have given me more pleasure to see someone who wanted to believe the story comment first. Oh well, cant win them all.
