  • Who gets the Radiology Result?

Posted by ADNMarquez1973 on November 11, 2020 at 3:04 pm

Some discussions going on at my site as providers feel overwhelmed with automated results distribution from the EMR. For outpatient orders, the PCP and the Ordering Physician get a copy of the radiology result. We’ve recently changed inpatient and ER to do the same, in addition to the hospitalist on record.

Anyone out there found a balance of something different that works well?

    Thanks in advance.

So, disclosure here, I am a vendor, and thus work with my clients to establish the best possible workflow for that particular facility. For an inpatient, the results typically are sent back to the EMR/HIS for any attending physician to view. For outpatients, it is different. Typically the results will only go to the ordering physician UNLESS it is requested by the patient or the specialist to cc the primary care doctor.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

I believe recent ONC regulations to prevent information blocking are about to make all of this a moot point, aren’t they?
