“Bigo” Barnett says he didn’t get a fair trial because it wasn’t a jury of his peers. His lawyer explains that is true because “Washington DC is not a state” and is “95-96% Biden voters”
_________
If you dont want to be tried by a DC jury, dont commit crime in DC.
Trump Tries to Intervene as Peter Navarro Faces Contempt Trial
Donald Trump is once again making a last-ditch bid to help a former aide avoid prosecution for defying the Jan. 6 select committee, [link=https://www.politico.com/news/2023/01/24/trump-navarro-trial-defying-jan-6-committee-00079256]Politico[/link] reports.
A lawyer for Trump [link=https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000185-e50c-d638-a3bf-f7bd6d820000]issued a letter this week[/link] endorsing the decision by former White House adviser Peter Navarro to blow off a subpoena from the Jan. 6 select committee by making blanket claims of executive privilege. This confirms President Trumps position that, as one of his senior advisors, you had an obligation to assert executive privilege on his behalf and fully comply with the principles of confidentiality stated above when you responded to the Committees subpoena, the attorney, Evan Corcoran, wrote on Trumps behalf.
The letter appears calculated to undercut [link=https://www.politico.com/news/2023/01/19/judge-navarro-dismiss-contempt-case-00078605]the ruling[/link] of U.S. District Court Judge Amit Mehta rejecting Navarros effort to dismiss the cases against him. Mehta noted in a [link=https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.244000/gov.uscourts.dcd.244000.68.0.pdf]39-page opinion [/link]last week that Navarro had presented no evidence that Trump actually asserted executive privilege on his behalf even though he made explicit assertions to block the testimony of other former aides.
Proud Boys expecting civil war, former member testifies
Matthew Greene testified in the case against former Proud Boys national chairman Enrique Tarrio and four lieutenants under a cooperation deal with the government [link=https://apnews.com/article/new-york-capitol-siege-electoral-college-congress-proud-boys-ffd1a74ca36cdd699223a463c9cd7766]after pleading guilty to storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, with fellow extremists.[/link]
Greene told jurors that the Proud Boys conversations became more heated as December 2020 wore on and challenges to President Donald Trumps election loss were unsuccessful. The Proud Boys were getting ready and willing for anything that was going to happen, Greene said, adding that the group saw itself as essentially the tip of the spear.
We were openly expecting a civil war at that point, Greene said.
Jan. 6 rioter who carried Confederate flag sentenced to 36 months in prison
According to his lawyers ignorance is his best defense. He and his excuses best shows the failure of the US education system, “He didn’t know!”
As Trump bragged, “He loves the undereducated.”
Ignorance is strengthSeefried said he did not intend to represent white supremacy or insurrection, merely a spirit of protest, by bringing to Washington a Confederate flag that had previously hung outside his home.
I never meant to send a message of hate, he said in court. He apologized to the Capitol Police officers, saying he was deeply sorry for my part in Jan. 6, 2021.
In sentencing papers, public defenders Elizabeth Mullin and Eugene Ohm said Seefried, who grew up in a poor, abusive household, did not understand the meaning of the banner he held.
He was taught that the flag was a symbol of an idealized view of southern life and southern heritage, they wrote. Lacking an education beyond the ninth grade and lacking even average intellectual capacity, Mr. Seefried did not appreciate the complex and, for many, painful, history behind the Confederate battle flag.
The elder Seefried jabbed repeatedly at Goodman with the flag and chased him up a flight of stairs, according to the trial testimony. Goodman said Seefried refused to leave and demanded to know where the lawmakers were. When Goodman was joined by reinforcements, Seefried berated the officers for protecting liars and thieves.
Ohm said in court that Seefried was only repeating the words of those around him and did not know where in the Capitol he was or how the election process worked.

Liberal media like the NYTimes always lies so Conservatives go to Trump & Fox to get the, er, ah, alternative truths, the things Conservatives want to hear?
Who needs truth in the media. Fox gives me what i want.
The lying politicians arent leading with lies, they are followers, telling their constituents what their voters want to hear.
Their audience, uh, i mean voters demand it.
[link=https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/26/opinion/fox-news-lies-dominion.html]https://www.nytimes.com/2023/02/26/opinion/fox-news-lies-dominion.html[/link]Fox isnt just the news hub of right-wing America, its a cultural cornerstone, and its business model is so successful that its more accurate to think of the rest of the right-wing media universe not as a collection of competitors to Fox, but rather as imitators. From television channels to news sites, right-wing personalities arent so much competing with Fox as auditioning for it.
During the Trump years, Fox faithfully upheld its end of the bargain. If you were Republican and felt embattled for supporting Donald Trump, a quick visit to Fox (especially in prime time) would calm your mind and soothe your soul. There youd be reminded that the Democrats are the real radicals. That the Democrats are the true threat to America. And if you voted for Trump even though you were uncomfortable with some of his conduct, it was only because they forced your hand.
In the emails and texts highlighted in the Dominion filing, you see Fox News figures, including Sean Hannity and Suzanne Scott and Lachlan Murdoch, referring to the need to respect the audience. To be clear, by respect they didnt mean tell the truth an act of genuine respect. Instead they meant represent.
When push comes to shove, they embody the possibly apocryphal remark of the French revolutionary [link=https://www.google.com/books/edition/Respectfully_Quoted/91IFAYFhtOMC?hl=en&gbpv=1&dq=there+go+the+people+i+must+follow+them+for+I+am+their+leader&pg=PA194&printsec=frontcover]Alexandre Auguste Ledru-Rollin[/link]: There go the people. I must follow them, for I am their leader. And follow them they did, straight into a morass of lies and conspiracy theories that should undermine Foxs credibility for years to come.
I Never Truly Understood Fox News Until Now
[link=https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theatlantic.com%2Fideas%2Farchive%2F2023%2F02%2Ffox-news-dominion-voting-lawsuit-2020-election-conspiracy%2F673111%2F]Brian Stelter[/link]: The basic story of Fox News and the 2020 election is well understood. Foxs relatively small news operation covered the vote count accurately; this coverage infuriated President Donald Trump, the MAGA base, and Foxs opinion stars; some viewers temporarily flipped to further-right outlets, such as Newsmax; and Fox panickedBut thanks to Dominion Voting Systems, which is pursuing a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox, we now know that the networks sense of crisis was even more intense than it appeared from outside. With the case careening toward trial, a court filing yesterday revealed some of what Dominion found during the discovery process, including eye-popping messages from Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Foxs senior management. Getting creamed by CNN! Foxs owner, Rupert Murdoch, wrote to its top executive after seeing the overnight ratings on November 8. Guess our viewers dont want to watch it.
Some of Foxs top shows began broadcasting a better story, one that its viewers did want to watch: a conspiracy-laden tale about crooked Democrats stealing an election. Dominion is arguing that Fox knew full well that Trumpworlds voter-fraud allegations were bunk but promoted the lies anyway. Whether or not Dominion prevails in court, and many experts believe it will, the lawsuit is already forcing an ethical reckoning over Foxs disrespect of its audience. Hour after hour, day after day, Fox stars kept signaling to viewers that Trump might still win the election not because they thought he would, but because they were worried about their ratings. And we all witnessed the consequences on January 6.

on how Fox news weighed in on Jan 6 coverage at the highest levels
Lachlan Murdoch called Scott because he felt the Jan 6 news coverage was too anti-Trump, and he wanted the “narrative” to be portrayed as a ” huge celebration of the President”
Scott called the producers and got the on-air news folks to change the tune to more Trump friendly.

Elon Musk Slams January 6 Committee
Elon Musk took to Twitter early Tuesday morning to criticize several lawmakers that sat on the House Committee Investigating the Capitol Riots on January 6th, accusing them of misleading the public, [link=https://www.foxnews.com/politics/elon-musk-house-jan-6-committee-misleading-public-withholding-evidence]Fox News[/link] reports.
Said Musk: Besides misleading the public, they withheld evidence for partisan political reasons that sent people to prison for far more serious crimes than they committed. -

Musk is absolutely correct.
Why did they withhold that video of that Q shaman dude being escorted around the Capitol by police? Give me one good reason why that should have been withheld?

I thought it was an insurrection at that time. I still think it was an insurrection today.

Withheld from what? The live hearings? You don’t present misleading/confusing information in a hearing. It just muddies the viewers’ understanding (which is precisely why Tucker is showing it)
here is explanation from Capitol Police:

Maybe going over the top with BS was just a way to get some focus off all the negative ink from last week. Bigger lies to covert for the lies.

Yes, withheld from the live hearings.
You dont think its relevant that multiple police officers were walking an unarmed insurrectionist around and letting him in to the most sacred parts of the Capitol? Shouldnt they just have arrested him? I guess it wouldnt have made for the scary congress floor insurrection photo op they were looking for if they arrested him before he got to the speakers lectern.
House GOP faces a new Jan. 6 headache, courtesy of Tucker Carlson
The Capitol Police chief and Republican senators slammed the Fox News host for falsely characterizing the violent riot using footage Speaker Kevin McCarthy provided him.
House Republicans arrived in the Capitol on Tuesday facing a torrent of questions about the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.
This time it was a headache of their own making.…
Speaker Kevin McCarthys decision to release thousands of hours of security footage from that day to Fox News has reopened a painful fault line that his party has repeatedly tried to mend. Two years after the violent assault on the Capitol by Donald Trumps supporters, with most of its members no longer openly parroting the former presidents false claims that Joe Bidens win was illegitimate, the GOP is still stuck reliving Jan. 6.…
While GOP senators and their leader, Mitch McConnell more vocally criticized Carlson for falsely portraying the attack as peaceful, House Republicans danced around the issue. (McCarthy responded to McConnells jabs by alleging that CNN published information about party leaders whereabouts on Jan. 6, saying he hoped the Senate leader would also be concerned by that.)

right. It’s not like they kicked down doors, broke windows, beat police with flags, pepper sprayed them, or threw stuff at police trying to close gates. They all signed up for tours of the Capitol.

Tucker Carlson and the New Narrative of January 6
[link=https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2023/03/tucker-carlson-and-new-narrative-january-6/673303/]David Graham[/link]: That Tucker Carlson thinks his viewers are stupid is not new, though his first swing at spinning unseen footage of the January 6 insurrection provides a fresh test of just how credulous they are.
The notable news from Carlsons show yesterday is not the video itself, which is similarly stale, but the crystallization of a Trumpist narrative about the assault on the Capitol that portrays it not as a disaster, nor as an unfortunate but minor event, but as a triumph to be celebrated.-
Steve Scaliese buys tuckers info. Everyone can decide for themselves now that only tucker has all the 41000 hours of footage.
