    It’s mostly been a downward trend but by appearance this admin seems to be keeping people in detention longer than ever before.  Obama also owned the most deportation as I recall.  It’s really a $h1t sandwich and Trump’s in charge so he owns it.  I don’t see why we can’t do better either.  The whole we need wall should not be a sticking point.  It’s just another lousy campaign promise from a conman.

    I don’t disagree but there’s more cages now and Trump is holding more people longer.  Hence the trending downward.  Plenty of blame to go around.  Obama owns some, Bush owns some, Clinton owns some.

    And heck, the Border Patrol was created in 1924.

    It’s not the existence of the Border Patrol or the creation of Detention Centers that are the problem, it is everything else that follows, the overcrowding, the lack of sanitary facilities, the deaths of so many people, especially children while in custody, the racist posts by agents and so on.

    Heck, you’d think you were trying to fog up the issue with irrelevances or that you don’t seem to understand the issues at all.

    Heck, even Trump officials talk about the dangerous overcrowding is a recipe for disaster.

    [link=https://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/ny-democrats-firings-border-patrol-facebook-forum-20190702-m2gy42scdjfzzoigwy6pe64kpi-story.html]https://www.nydailynews.c…gwy6pe64kpi-story.html[/link]

    The Trump administrations migrant detention centers are so overcrowded and kept in such squalid conditions that one senior U.S. official recently described them as a ticking time bomb” for disaster.

    The alarming account from the unnamed official was included in a damning report released Tuesday by Jennifer Costello, the acting inspector general of the administrations own Department of Homeland Security.

    The 14-page report, which features shocking photos of dozens of migrants crammed into tight holding cells like cattle, said the administration must take immediate action to alleviate the dangerous conditions, which includes hundreds of children being detained way longer than the 72 hours allowed under federal law.

    Heck, here’s a ProPublica report. Funny illustration showing Trump forcing AOC to fellate him. Hilarious. Or the photo of the drowned father and daughter in a “faked” photo, like all the “faked” conspiracies like Sandy shooting and all the rest.

    How many agents are in the Border Patrol? And how many members of the Facebook group “I’m 10-15” posting racist comments? 9,500? Does not seem like a minority.

    [link=https://www.propublica.org/article/secret-border-patrol-facebook-group-agents-joke-about-migrant-deaths-post-sexist-memes#]https://www.propublica.or…ths-post-sexist-memes#[/link]

    [size=”0″]ProPublica received images of several recent discussions in the 10-15 Facebook group and was able to link the participants in those online conversations to apparently legitimate Facebook profiles belonging to Border Patrol agents, including a supervisor based in El Paso, Texas, and an agent in Eagle Pass, Texas. ProPublica has so far been unable to reach the group members who made the postings.[/size]

    ProPublica contacted three spokespeople for CBP in regard to the Facebook group and provided the names of three agents who appear to have participated in the online chats. CBP hasnt yet responded.

    The postings, in his view, reflect what seems to be a pervasive culture of cruelty aimed at immigrants within CBP. This isnt just a few rogue agents or bad apples.

    The Border Patrol Facebook group is the most recent example of some law enforcement personnel behaving badly in public and private digital spaces. An investigation by [link=https://www.revealnews.org/article/inside-hate-groups-on-facebook-police-officers-trade-racist-memes-conspiracy-theories-and-islamophobia/]Reveal uncovered hundreds of active-duty and retired law enforcement officers[/link] who moved in extremist Facebook circles, including white supremacist and anti-government groups. A team of researchers calling themselves the [link=https://www.plainviewproject.org/]Plain View Project[/link] recently released a hefty database of offensive Facebook posts made by current and ex-law enforcement officers.

    And in early 2018, federal investigators found a raft of disturbing and racist text messages sent by Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona after searching the phone of Matthew Bowen, [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/05/20/mindless-murdering-savages-border-agent-used-slurs-before-allegedly-hitting-migrant-with-his-truck/?utm_term=.7d09cc499eca]an agent charged with running down a Guatemalan migrant[/link] with a Ford F-150 pickup truck. The texts, which were revealed in a [link=https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/6178150-BOWEN-TEXT-MESSAGE-EXHIBIT-DEF.html]court filing in federal court[/link] in Tucson,

    Federal officials are investigating whether agents participated in a private Facebook group for Border Patrol employees that hosted racist, sexist and sexually violent memes about immigrants and officials such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

    Matthew Klein, an assistant commissioner at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, called the Facebook groups posts disturbing and said the inspector general of the Department of Homeland Security, of which CBP is a part, began an investigation after a report by the investigative site ProPublica.

    The posts on the private group, which says it is for current and former Border Patrol agents, included caustic remarks about the deaths of migrants, sexually explicit images edited to include images of Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and xenophobic asides and comments, [link=https://www.propublica.org/article/secret-border-patrol-facebook-group-agents-joke-about-migrant-deaths-post-sexist-memes]according to ProPublica[/link].

    Where Old Patrol meets New Patrol, the group described itself, according to images ProPublica shared. We are family, first and foremost. This is where the Green line starts, with us.

    Some of the memes shared on the groups page that ProPublica reported on include a photo illustration that depicts Ocasio-Cortez being forced to give oral sex to President Trump. Another depicted her giving oral sex at a detention center for immigrants, ProPublica reported.

    President Trump offered a full-throated defense of his beleaguered Border Patrol agency Wednesday, saying agents are doing a great job despite widespread outrage over squalid conditions at the administrations migrant detention facilities.

    In a string of tweets, the president suggested migrants in federal custody are better off than they were in their home countries and claimed Democrats are overreacting.

    [b]Our Border Patrol people are not hospital workers, doctors or nurses,” Trump posted.[/b] The Democrats (sic) bad Immigration Laws, which could be easily fixed, are the problem. Great job by Border Patrol, above and beyond. Many of these illegal aliens are living better now than where they came from, and in far safer conditions.”[size=”0″] [/size]

    Hey, Americans! It’s your moral obligation to house illegal aliens in Marriott-style accommodations… following which, of course, they have the right to be counted in the census to bolster votes in Democrat-managed states… following several years, of course, they have the right to American citizenship to form a permanent electoral and demographic supermajority.

    Funny that the aliens start showing up with kids in record numbers once the Dems took control back of the House. If you don’t recognize, or can’t see that this is a total con job on the world and specifically on the American people, you are part of the problem.

    As of right now I’d say Trump is a bit better than 50/50 … maybe 60/40 … to win re-election with the exact same electoral map he won in 2016.

    I think he will lose the popular vote by an even greater margin, but the economy is still pretty darn good and as of now that gives him a better than fair shot to carry enough of the industrial midwest to win.

    Democrat only wins if they flip Pennsylvania Michigan and Wisconsin

    Thats possible but only with a moderate candidate

    In the current bunch Aside from Biden I dont see any other democrat being able to win those states

    So unless joe picks up
    His game or another candidate jumps in I think we are looking at a trump electoral win

    [b]Goldman Sachs has Trump as a slight favorite in 2020[/b]

    (interestingly, the same formula had Obama losing narrowly in 2012)

    Trumps approval is at a historic low and shows he is slightly less popular than Jimmy Carter was when he lost his reelection bid in 1980.

    However, economic growth has been generally strong under Trump. The Goldman forecast uses average growth in gross domestic product over two years leading up to the quarter before the election. Since those numbers are not yet available for Trump, the chart uses Goldmans economic forecast of 2.2% GDP growth. That makes the Trump economy as strong as the economy that Bill Clinton and George W. Bush each rode to re-election.

    As the chart below shows, while Trump is certainly not a runaway favorite re-election, the economy is just strong enough to make up for his low approval rating.

    Trump needs to keep the anger and resentment up for his core voters. Trump is and has been campaigning on white identity since he started his campaign launching with his Birtherism and Obama being a Muslim.

    [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/03/opinion/trump-republican-base.html]https://www.nytimes.com/2…p-republican-base.html[/link]

    Trump is campaigning
    [blockquote] largely on issues of white identity. And given the exchange Thursday night between Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on school busing, it appears the Democratic Party is going to also focus on identity-based issues in 2020. Thus, it is looking like feelings toward the groups targeted by the candidates will matter.
    [/blockquote] All of which helps explain Trumps shift to rolling back gay and lesbian rights, for example, after many decades of [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/23/us/politics/donald-trump-gay-rights.html?module=inline]supporting[/link] just [link=https://www.mediamatters.org/video/2016/06/18/abcs-jonathan-karl-calls-trump-most-pro-gay-rights-republican-candidate-ever/211030]those causes[/link].

    In the midst of the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump described himself as a [link=https://www.cnn.com/2016/06/13/politics/donald-trump-lgbt-community/index.html]real friend[/link] of the LGBTQ community. Since taking office, however, the Trump administration has [link=https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/dominicholden/trump-lgbt-anti-actions-administration-pride-month]argued that[/link] the 1964 Civil Rights Act rights law [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/27/nyregion/justice-department-gays-workplace.html?module=inline]does not protect[/link] gay workers from discrimination and that transgender people [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/26/us/politics/trump-transgender-military.html?module=inline]should be barred[/link] from military service.

    There is an underlying political logic to the switch from Trumps campaign stance to his policies once he won the White House. As he heads into the 2020 election, his base, the voters essential to his re-election, are hostile not only to gay men and lesbians, but to racial and ethnic minorities as well.

    [b]Trumps political survival now depends on catering to indeed, inflaming those hostilities.[/b]

    [b]Clearly, Trump benefits immensely from hostility to African-Americans, to Hispanics and to gay men and lesbians. If he is an expert at anything, it is at exploiting and generating hostility. Trumps relentless derogation of racial and ethnic minorities, his support for the anti-abortion movement and his right-wing appointments to the judiciary, reflect his political dependence on a key bloc of his loyalists, white born again and evangelical Christians.[/b]

    [i][b]What this demonstrates is that white Christians are deeply committed to challenging the ascendance of liberalism marked by the election of Barack Obama in 2008.[/b][/i]

    [size=”0″]White evangelical Protestants remain [/size][link=https://www.prri.org/research/emerging-consensus-on-lgbt-issues-findings-from-the-2017-american-values-atlas/]more opposed[/link][size=”0″] to gay marriage than other religious constituencies, including Mormons another political rationale for Trump to adopt policies adversarial to the LGBT community.[/size]

    [b]Alex Gage, head of TargetPoint Consulting, a Republican firm specializing in voter mobilization, found that [link=https://books.google.com/books?id=XUb7g_3BCZYC&pg=PT70&lpg=PT70&dq=alex+gage+anger+points&source=bl&ots=2zuTFNUn-E&sig=ACfU3U3eI3JZFyauWMyMnfFPsfIEYjwkbg&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwin3fKL65TjAhVSw1kKHXJTAowQ6AEwBXoECAkQAQ#v=onepage&q=alex%20gage%20anger%20points&f=false]anger is a much stronger motivation[/link] than recounting the beneficial things a politician has done.[/b]

    Trump has aligned himself with two overlapping, declining constituencies that are clearly motivated by a combination of anger, resentment and anxiety white evangelical Christians and whites without college degrees.

    [b]If Trump is to win re-election next year, he must raise the stakes for these two sets of voters so that they turn out in unprecedented numbers. Demonizing immigrants and other minorities is crucial to this strategy.[/b]

    A measure of the mood of the electorate based on a compilation of large amounts of poll data developed by [link=http://stimson.web.unc.edu/]James Stimson[/link], a political scientist at the University of North Carolina, portrays a landscape that is currently favorable to Democrats. The [link=https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/government/news/feature-archive/the-policy-agendas-project.php]Policy Agendas Project[/link] at the University of Texas, which has adopted and regularly updates Stimsons survey measure, [link=https://www.comparativeagendas.net/news/policy-mood-dataset-updated]reported last month[/link] that
    [blockquote] The annual estimate for 2018 is the most liberal ever recorded in the 68 year history of [link=http://nymag.com/intelligencer/2019/06/americas-political-mood-is-now-most-liberal-ever-recorded.html]Mood[/link], just slightly higher than the previous high point of 1961. It represents the expected leftward movement in thermostatic reaction to the presidency of Donald Trump.
    [/blockquote] In terms of impact on 2020, it shows that Democrats have some room to endorse liberal policies because more of the public is doing so.
