Eastman Reiterates Support For Full Insurrection
‘Co-Conspirator 2’ cited the Declaration of Independence in saying that the people have a right to “alter or abolish” their government.

Theres actually a provision in the Declaration of Independence that a people will suffer abuses while they remain sufferable, tolerable while they remain tolerable, he said. At some point abuses become so intolerable that it becomes not only their right but their duty to alter or abolish the existing government.

So thats the question, he added. Have the abuses or the threat of abuses become so intolerable that we have to be willing to push back?

Eastman made the stunning remarks, which appear to repeat the suggestion that overthrowing the government is a legitimate means to stop what Eastman described as the modern left wing, in the last of a series of interviews with Klingenstein. Part one, [link=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rARmn9Dafs]published[/link] in June, addresses Eastmans belief that the election was stolen. Part two covers what Eastman saw as the legal remedy, while part three asks, as Klingenstein put it, should you and the president have pursued that legal remedy?
John Eastman Comes Clean: Hell Yes We Were Trying to Overthrow the Government
I want to return to this [link=https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/eastman-reiterates-support-for-full-insurrection]revelatory interview[/link] with co-conspirator John Eastman, the last portion of which was published Thursday by Tom Klingenstein, the Chairman of the Trumpite Claremont Institute and then [link=https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/eastman-reiterates-support-for-full-insurrection]highlighted by our Josh Kovensky[/link]. Theres a lot of atmospherics in this interview, a lot of bookshelf-lined tweedy gentility mixed with complaints about OSHA regulations and Drag Queen story hours. But the central bit comes just over half way through the interview when Eastman gets into the core justification and purpose for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election and overthrow the constitutional order itself. He invokes the Declaration of Independence and says quite clearly that yes, we were trying to overthrow the government and argues that they were justified because of the sheer existential threat America was under because of the election of Joe Biden.

From the beginning the Trump/Eastman coup plotters have tried to wrap their efforts in legal processes and procedures. It was their dissimulating shield to hide the reality of their coup plot and if needed give them legal immunity from the consequences. The leaders of the secession movement tried the same thing in 1861.

In a way I admire Eastman for coming clean. I dont know whether he sees the writing on the wall and figures he might as well lay his argument out there or whether his grad school political theory pretensions and pride got the better of him and led him to state openly this indefensible truth. Either way hes done it and not in any way thats retrievable as a slip of the tongue. They knew it was a coup and they justified it to themselves in those terms. He just told us. They believed they were justified in trying to overthrow the government, whether because of OSHA chair size regulations or drag queens or, more broadly, because the common herd of us dont understand the countrys founding principles the way Eastman and his [link=https://twitter.com/joshtpm/status/1441929116069076992]weirdo clique[/link] do. But they did it. He just admitted it. And now theyre going to face the consequences.

These people will also argue that overthrowing a “tyrannical” American government is the fundamental reason for the 2nd Amendment. The Constitution makes a violent insurrection “legal.”

Gee, that’s too bad.

[link=https://www.politico.com/news/2023/08/07/eastman-trump-disbarment-postpone-00110131]https://www.politico.com/…ment-postpone-00110131[/link]

John Eastman asks to reschedule his disbarment proceedings because he might have to take the 5th since he is an unindicted co-conspirator in the Jan 6/ Coup case.
Arizona Audit Leader Wants Texts to Stay Secret
Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan is trying to keep secret more than 1,600 texts he exchanged with a Michigan lawyer who was indicted on charges of illegally accessing voting machines as part of a plot to overturn 2020 election results, the [link=https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/local/arizona-investigations/2023/08/07/cyber-ninjas-ceo-doug-logan-aims-to-keep-texts-with-stefanie-lambert-secret/70516217007/]Arizona Republic[/link] reports.

Logan sent and received nearly 2,400 texts with Stefanie Lambert, more than any other person he messaged while leading the Arizona Senates audit of 2020 ballots cast in Maricopa County, records show.

And now Logan and Lambert appear to have coordinated efforts to redact and conceal most of their messages including ones directly related to the ballot review despite multiple court orders to turn them over.

Messages Show Trump Team Behind Voting System Breach
Atlanta-area prosecutors investigating efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia are in possession of text messages and emails directly connecting members of Donald Trumps legal team to the early January 2021 voting system breach in Coffee County, [link=https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/13/politics/coffee-county-georgia-voting-system-breach-trump/index.html]CNN[/link] reports.

Investigators in the Georgia criminal probe have long suspected the breach was not an organic effort sprung from sympathetic Trump supporters in rural and heavily Republican Coffee County a county Trump won by nearly 70% of the vote. They have gathered evidence indicating it was a top-down push by Trumps team to access sensitive voting software.

Trump allies attempted to access voting systems after the 2020 election as part of the broader push to produce evidence that could back up the former presidents baseless claims of widespread fraud.
[link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/08/15/takeaways-trump-georgia-indictment/]Georgia Indictment shows that Trump’s effort kept going long after Jan 6[/link]
One of the more striking details comes in the 38th and 39th counts the last charges against Trump which date to Sept. 17, 2021, nearly eight months after Trump left office.

The charge has to do with [link=https://twitter.com/realLizUSA/status/1438886054380154884?s=20]a letter Trump sent to Raffensperger[/link] in which he enclosed a report alleging that [link=https://www.cnn.com/2021/09/21/politics/dekalb-trump-letter-fact-check/index.html]43,000 ballots in Atlanta-based DeKalb County[/link] were not properly handled using chain-of-custody rules. Trump suggested that Raffensperger start the process of decertifying the election, or whatever the correct legal remedy is, and announce the true winner.

The indictment accuses Trump and others of having corruptly solicited Georgia officials, including the Secretary of State and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, to violate their oaths to the Georgia Constitution and to the United States Constitution by unlawfully changing the outcome of the November 3, 2020, presidential election in Georgia in favor of Donald Trump.

Special Prosecutor to Probe Georgia Lt. Governor
A Georgia state agency said Tuesday that it will name a special prosecutor to consider whether the states Republican lieutenant governor should face criminal charges after former president Donald Trump and 18 of his allies were indicted Monday for working to overturn the states 2020 election results, the [link=https://news.yahoo.com/special-prosecutor-examine-actions-georgias-180116809.html?guccounter=1]AP[/link] reports.

Lt. Gov. Burt Jones was one of 16 Republican electors who falsely claimed that Trump won Georgia. As a state senator, he also sought a special session of Georgias Legislature aimed at overturning President Joe Bidens narrow win in the state. But Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was barred by a judge from indicting Jones.
[link=https://www.cbsnews.com/news/donald-trump-2020-election-alternate-electors-scheme-arizona-investigation/]Arizona AG investigating 2020  fake electors scheme [/link]
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ office is conducting an ongoing investigation of an alleged attempt to use [link=https://www.cbsnews.com/news/fake-electors-immunity-georgia-election-investigation-trump/]alternate electors[/link] after the 2020 presidential election to benefit former President Donald Trump, a spokesperson for the attorney general confirmed.

Arizona is one of seven states that Trump lost in 2020 but where the former president’s allies allegedly attempted to create a fraudulent slate of electors. How long the investigation has been underway, its status, and its scope, are not clear. Mayes, a Democrat, made her first public comments about the investigation on Wednesday.

“We are taking this investigation very seriously, very solemnly,” [link=https://www.12news.com/video/news/attorney-general-kris-mayes-comments-on-fake-electors-scheme/75-e66659fe-59ab-478f-bffa-a19f79906ebf]Mayes told local media[/link] this week, adding “we’re going to do it on our timetable as justice demands.”
Arizona Investigators Aggressively Looking at Kelli Ward
Arizonas criminal probe into the 2020 fake electors plot is heating up and investigators are now asking plenty of questions about a key Donald Trump ally involved in it: former state GOP chair Kelli Ward, [link=https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/kelli-ward-crosshairs-arizona-fake-electors-investigation-1234808925/]Rolling Stone[/link] reports.

The Arizona probe has been accelerating in the past several weeks, with prosecutors gathering evidence and speaking with individuals with knowledge of how the fake electors scheme was carried out in the state.
