  • PACS softwarehardware-related inquiry; would appreciate immediate assistance

Posted by jasonwhelan75 on May 2, 2021 at 11:38 pm

Curious if any IT people can advise on following situation:

Have a partner clinic in a rural area with a Konica Minolta machine that has a PACs on it and isn’t budging when we try to add a new PACS. The Konica representative says they cannot upload a new PACS server on that. Why? Is it not possible to easily either replace the existing PACS? Why MUST the existing PACS only work? How can we maneuver past this to install either a new gateway for a new PACS or set up VPN to send images to another PACS?

    Thank you.

sounds like some kind of wonky setup that probably was done to service the office.  I’ve worked on a number of Konicas as we’ve onboarded new sites and they come with cheap GE DRs now.  On the Konica stuff I’ve seen it does sometimes have a limitation on how many PACS destinations etc.. you can add onto the device.  Like you might be able to add 2 or 3 destinations on one but the unit in the ER only alllows for one PACS.  There’s a button that usually shows you like a map of how the device is configured.  If you don’t need the the PACS running on the device I would think they could just repoint it to your PACS.  or maybe that PACS running on the device could forward the data.

that could work the other way too.  If you send to your PACS and then your PACS forward data back to the local instance.  Not super efficient.
