How long do you keep outside images in your PACS?
Please let me know how long you save outside imported exams.

This is probably a policy regulated by your organization and/or the state. We have a secondary PACS dedicated for outside images that is viewable within our PROD PACS. We don’t currently purge them out (although I’d like to). Also, HIE’s are becoming more abundant and robust which probably makes the need for outside imaging become less necessary…

We retain outside studies for 10 years, since our rads have used them for comparisons and our patients are generally annual repeats.
