  • Got a Pass in my Surgery Rotation, am I doomed to not match DR?

Posted by hgufler on November 13, 2022 at 8:13 pm

I have good research and extracurriculars, have a HP in OBGYN, a Satisfactory (out of Unsatisfactory) in my anesthesia rotation, and am currently doing very well in peds. Passed step 1 no score. I got the bad end of the stick with some surgeons and underperformed on the exam, resulting in a pass in surgery.

Ive been reviewing applications and interviewing for about 3 years. Back in the days of step 1 scores, I would say as long as your step 1 was good, a P in surgery doesnt matter. Now that I dont have step 1 to look at, all Im basically looking at is Med, Surg, and DR/IR grades. I dont think it will prevent you from matching, but definitely something you should be ready to discuss at interviews.
