• DR Panel with noise

Posted by Bones678 on June 26, 2023 at 7:30 am

We are having intermittent noise in some of our exams. They look similar to gride lines but am told from service they are not . They suggest replacing the DR panel at a cost of 20 K. Has anyone else seen this? We went DR a year before we had to. Same building stable environment Windows 10. Vendor starts with a K.
Appreciate the help.

Have service do a test with a loaner panel for a full  week before buying a new panel nd see if the noise goes away. If it does then look at the age and number of shots on the “bad” panel to see if you can get a replacement under warranty or at least a new one at a significant discount.

Are the noise lines on images with a grid?  Grid suppression can only handle so much or the protocols are not turned on.  The other thing could be backscatter.  Try some lead on the back side of the panel, especially with high dose shots.  I’d also assess the environment of where the images with this show up.  I’ve seen very small electrical leaks from a nearby object mess with a DR plate.  Another thought would be to try and do a plate calibration.  Sometimes they like to get wonky and a fresh plate cal will clear it out.
