The administration seems to be more concerned with the damage that the virus could do to the presidents political fortunes than they are with halting its spread and providing the necessary resources to treat those infected by it.

I actually dont know and havent looked at this story at all. The real story and its associated context usually comes out some time after the original breathless headlines.
I doubt youre willing to wonder about anything beyond what youve already assumed, but hope springs eternal.

If what I’ve heard is correct about this taking weeks to show symptoms it could’ve been spread to a lot of people before anyone was diagnosed. This supposedly killed someone in a nursing home, and it there were like 5 others in critical condition.
If I were off boarding these people I might have considered quarantining everyone for a few weeks, not just the Wuhan people but all the handlers too.-

The word it comes later. It refers to the hoax in question. It also refers to misinformation that the Democrats are spreading. It cannot refer to the coronavirus in this setting, since that interpretation would require one believing that Trump is saying that Democrats are actively spreading the virus itself.
Trump uses the word their to describe the hoax. Their refers to the Democrats.
