A federal prosecutor told jurors Monday that a witness will testify that Republican Gov. Chris Christie was told about a plan to close traffic lanes near the George Washington Bridge as the shutdown was happening, a claim he has contested for years.
The trial comes three years after gridlock paralyzed a town next to the busy bridge connecting New Jersey to New York City for four days. Prosecutors said Bill Baroni and Bridget Kelly, two former Christie allies, had sought political revenge against Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich. Baroni was a top Christie appointee to Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Kelly was Christie’s former chief of staff.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Vikas Khanna told jurors that David Wildstein, another Port Authority official, will testify he and Baroni made Christie aware of the plan during a 9/11 memorial in New York City in 2013, three days after the gridlock started.
“The evidence will show that … they bragged about the fact that there were traffic problems in Fort Lee and that Mayor Sokolich was not getting his calls returned,” Khanna said.-
a lady died in this fiasco. whether or not she would have died had she not been in an ambulance that was caught up in the gridlock is another question, but christie’s traffic jam certainly did her no favors.
i wonder if this is a premature October surprise for the ‘pubs.

Doubtful. If Christie is indicted or otherwise found at fault, Trump will throw him under the bus faster than anything. Trump’s loyalties depend only on what’s in it for him.

The man, David Wildstein, recalled how Mr. Christie reacted with laughter, clearly appreciating the news. And upon learning that the mayors calls were being met with silence, Mr. Wildstein said, the governor said in a sarcastic tone, I imagine he wouldnt get his calls returned.
Mr. Wildstein, who has admitted being the culprit behind the lane closings in 2013, testified as prosecutors showed a series of photographs of him, Mr. Christie and Bill Baroni, then the governors top staff appointee at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the bridge, at a memorial service to mark the 12th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in Lower Manhattan.
The photos showed the three men in a loose huddle on a dirt pathway between the Sept. 11 memorial and the construction site for a tower rising at the World Trade Center site. Mr. Christie, who has previously said he did not recall the conversation, appears engaged and attentive, looking into Mr. Baronis eyes, raising his eyes and laughing in some frames, and reaching out his hands to the other two men.

I worry about a Biden black swan event … obvious impairment, health issue, a handoff to Kamala, deep recession …
Even with low GOP turnout Trump could still sneak by in the Blue wall states and win the EC just like 2016.
I refuse to say he *can’t* win.
