Beware the remote in-service exam
This is a PSA if you haven’t already taken your in-service exam. I would highly recommend wearing a mask and going to take the exam in person at a Prometric center. The apparent convenience of taking the exam at home is far outweighed by the efficiency of test delivery you will get in person. For example, once you log into the application, you will have to wait for a “readiness agent” to join you and check your room via a webcam. The average wait time for a readiness agent, from what I’ve experienced and what others have told me, is 30 min to 1 hour! When you have finally convinced the readiness agent that your room is cheat-free, they will connect you to a proctor who will try to launch your exam. This doesn’t always work and the exam doesn’t launch. They will ask you to restart the application, and then you have to wait for ANOTHER readiness agent to come check you. So, moral of the story, if you’re otherwise healthy, wear a mask and go take it in person. The headaches of the remote testing experience is not worth it. Lord only knows how the ABR core exam experience is going to be. Let’s just be thankful they’re not delivering it through Prometric.
