What are you binge-watching?
Posted by btomba_77 on September 3, 2020 at 4:32 amI’ll confess that my TV watching has crept up more than a bit during the pandemic. I cut the cable a while back and without live sports I end up doing a lot of netflix/ prime/ HBO etc
I just finished watching the entirety of Parks & Recreation serialized from Episode 1. It was sooooooo good.
Highly recommended.

I enjoyed Peaky Blinders. Before that I watched The IT Crowd…pretty amusing.
-
Parks and rec and peaky blinders are both great – although blinders gets a bit slow.
If you’re into sci-fi at all, Jessica jones is pretty good. I wold say umbrella academy on Netflix is my running favorite though….combines sci-fi stuff, drama, comedy, time travel, it’s awesome.-
Just finished Umbrella Academy a few weeks ago. I really liked it (and was bummed to discover Season 3 not even shot yet). Mrs_dergon liked it too, which is a rarity because she tends to prefer historical “based on a true story” tv, not sci-fi/fantasy.
-
I have the Hulu TV which will get you tribe games for $55/month. Netflix and Prime too.
I liked all the Marvel stuff. Daredevil and Punisher.
– better call Saul – solid
– been watching Lucifer. Seems OK so far
– Jack Ryan on prime was good.
– Marveous Mrs Mazel is good.I maybe watch a couple episodes a night. Sunday is kind of my binge day. Play golf early. Cut the lawn. Binge some TV.

I started to watch but I’m having a hard time seeing where show is going. Like time travel, fighting the masked bad guys, or something else.
-
-
Umbrella is getting a little better. I feel like you have to watch 5 or 6 episodes though.

The Last Kingdom on Netflix is outstanding, Ozark pretty good too
-
Like Ozark a lot. Havent seen the last kingdom. Longmire is a good show on Netflix. They got that from AMC I think and made a last season.
I kind of like The Boys on Amazon prime. Watched the last episode of season 2. Jack Ryan is a good Amazon show also. Marvelous Mrs Mazel is solid. Ive heard other good things about Amazon shows like Bosh.
Fargo is pretty good too.

Tore through the whole of The Last Kingdom in a month. It was good.

I never watched the show Monk and I got on a kick of watching that one on Prime. it’s pretty good.
I’ve seen many posts saying the Queens Gambit on Netflix is a pretty good.-

West Wing for the writing and fast dialogue. The delight of having to watch a scene multiple times to catch all the jokes. “I drink from the Keg of Glory, Donna. Bring me the finest muffins and bagels in all the land.”
Friday Night Lights (2006, series) – reminds you of what it was like to be a teenager again, you just might cry. Made me want to be a better father. Best opening theme song. Minka Kelly, huzzah.
Sopranos – vicariously let your Id run wild, gluttony. Madone!
Bosch – archetypal tough guy: no one likes us, we don’t care.
The Americans – uses the plot of a spy game to tell a story about relationships. Made me realize I was taking my wife for granted, and that she is stronger than me.-
I’ve seen the Americans. Thought the ending was kind of a dud.
I binge watched the Queens Gambit Saturday. I thought it was a pretty solid series.-
I liked what we do in the shadows. Matt Berry from that show is in some funny stuff you can catch on Netflix. I started watching Toast of London. Its British but its pretty funny.

I’ve been contemplating trying out season 1……I’ve heard mostly mixed reviews though. With fellowship and a toddler at home I get maybe a few hours free a week for TV so I have to be selective with what I watch, haha.
Anyone watching anything else?
My wife is watching ‘Emily in paris’ on Netflix and it’s likely the worst show I’ve seen in years.

By far one of the funniest
-
Curb is pretty good. I love the one with the vet who had PTSD. It’s in a later season. Super Dave Osborne as Marty Funkhowser is a good character.
My sleep got a little out of whack being off for a few days. Kind of got into MASH on late night TV. Started watching on Hulu. It’s from before my time. It’s really interesting to see some of the stuff on that show. I don’t think it would necessarily fly on TV today.-
Queens Gambit
The Americans
Bosch
Jack Ryan
Ray Donavan (if you can find it)-
I liked Jack Ryan a lot
Ray Donovan I think is past its prime.
-
-
Thanks for all these recs
I thought Doctor Foster was good, like a social thriller.
Peaky Blinders I saw a few years ago, really enjoyed it.
-
I dont know why but I enjoyed Cobra Kai. Its clearly very much a cheesy throwback to Karate Kid but I watched it all anyway.

Never watched Twin Peaks at the time. Good one to binge watch because there are only two seasons on Netflix and the first season is not many episodes. Some of these shows with five and six seasons become too much. Not that I had much trouble with Breaking Bad…
Madalorian is great but there too few episodes and one can’t really binge watch unless one waits until all of the episodes of the season are uploaded. I don’t have the patience for that!

Ive kind of been on a kick of watching older shows that were before my time or werent interesting to me growing up.
I started Taxi and I find it to be pretty funny. Its interesting to see some of the people you recognize in the parts like Christopher Lloyd.
Started trying to watch some Coach episodes also. Its not bad so far.
Some things I want to watch
– I love Lucy
– Laverne and Shirley
– all in the family
– Mary Tyler Moore-
Two new shows:
Letterkenny — raunchy sitcom series set in small town canada
Bog Mouth – animated comedy series about kids hitting puberty and discovering sexualtiy …. hysterical. Voiced by lots of people you will recognize.
Also, not binge but jsut a movie…. we watched Palm Springs last night and really liked it.-
I find myself watching a lot more TV on the weekends now since were not really doing much with Covid.
I liked Letterkenny. Not sure if youve hit the Noah Dyck episode yet.
Big Mouth is pretty funny. Id second that.
I thought Palm Springs was fair to middling. Watched Coming to America 2 last night. Thought that was hot recycled trash.
-
I’ve been watching 1-2 episodes of Superstore most night recently. Pretty light humour and the characters aren’t too over the top. It also doesn’t try to preach to you.
-
-
Just quickly binged The Serpent on Netflix over the weekend. Quick mini-series dramatization of the Charles Sobraj murders. He was “The bikini killer” who murdered at least 12 people in Thailand and along the Hippy Trail in Asia back in the 70s.
Enjoyed.-
i read book on that
serpentine – long time ago – thought it was excellent-
Just about worked my way through Coach. It seems to be tailing off a bit towards the end. Tim Conway is pretty good though.
Watched the Q documentary on HBOmax. Interesting.
Fleabag on Amazon was good.
30 Rock pretty funny.
I see Apple announced Ted Lasso season 2. Looking forward to that this summer.
-
-
I just re-watched Mad Men start to finish (this time with my wife)
so so good.
Now picking into “Billions” (not as good as my friends who recommended said it was)
Also watching Letterkenny for my fix of Canada and slightly raunchy comedy
And if anyone hasn’t watch Season 1 of Ted Lasso … very good…. funny and heartwarming…. Watch it now to prep for season 2. -
Switched from binge to do some movies this week. All recommended
New: “My octopus teacher” – nature documentary
“Assassins” — really good about the women who killed Kim Jong Un’s brother
Old:
“Bridge of Spies” – Tom Hanks cold war era movie about defending a Russian spy in US court
“Love and Mercy” – About Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys … really good (prompted me to listen through Pet Sounds start to finish for the first time in years)
-
I’ve not really seen any releases that have struck my fancy. Bridge of Spies was alright.
Pre-pandemic John Wick 4 and The Matrix 4 were supposed to come out in May ’21. That was little bummer when I saw that. -
Im enjoying Clarksons Farm on Prime. Jeremy Clarkson learning to farm his farm.
-
What we do in the Shadows on FX was pretty funny.
They just started show ping the New Zealand pre-cursor to that show. Wellington Paranormal. 2 episodes on the CW and HBO max. Im liking it.
-
Been raining like a MoFo in Ohio. Tried the show Hacks today on HBO Max. Its pretty good. Ill probably have the whole thing binged soon.
-
So I did like the Hacks. Started Bosch on Amazon. Been a pretty good show so far.
-
In no particular order of greatness:
The Crown-great historical aircraft-even if some are CGI
Kobra Kai-total cheese, but great nostalgia
Doc Martin-British-well written
The IT Crowd-One of the best… so well written. Also British
Foyle’s War- WWII era detective on south coast of England begins 1940-fantastic
Manifest-Cheesy
Yellowstone-Take em to the train station
Still Game-Scottish widower buddies going to the pub. Hilarious but you may need subtitles the first few episodes. -
Catastrophe-(old series on Amazon)
Ozark
Cocaine Cowboys-Kings of Miami
What If…?/Loki–Marvel/Disney
Country Music-PBS
American Masters-PBS
The Crown -
Surprised no one mentioned Chernobyl
Curb is one of my favorites
Longmire
Mrs mazel
Suits
And if you are ok with subtitles, Shtisel – binged watched it twice, the second time with my kid going to college -
Also- for those that liked the IT crowd, Silicon Valley was great

Loved it.
I make reference to the “Conjoined Triangles of Success” in meetings all the time 🙂 -
Two new shows …
With mrs_dergon: The Morning Show (Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Anniston, and Steve Carrell) and Only Murders in the Building (Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez)
also just for me …
Mythic Quest … kind of like Silicon Valley but for the gaming industry -
I tried watching mythic quest. Im not sure its got my attention. Theres funny parts.
Ted Lasso season 2 I dont find it as good as season 1 either. It feels a lot more serious. Its not horrible.
I blew through this Mrs Mappleworth comedy on Roku channel. Its like satire of a woman writing crime novels. Each show is only 10 minutes. Its sort of naked gun but smarter.
-
I never took to Big Bang …. had some friends like it. Seemed to “laugh track” sit com for me
-
Watched the sopranos prequel movie. Many saints of Newark. I didnt love it but didnt hate it. Not really what I thought it would be. Kind of meh.
-
been watching some Curb your enthusiasm episodes lately. I think they have a new season coming up. Some of the best comedy I’ve ever seen.
The PTSD where he thinks the valets are British soldiers in red coats.
Marty Funkhowser’s nephew
-
Trying to watch this Fish Game thing on Netflix. Not sure I like it or don’t. Interesting horror/scifi story but I think there’s something lost in translation.
-
Highly recommend Gomorrah on HBO. Fifth season coming out soon. Top 10 series of all time. In italian but I watched with subtitles
-
Some good stuff already listed. Here’s some that I think have not been named yet but i recommend!
– The Great (hulu)
– Brooklynn 99 (hulu, i think also peacock)
-handmaids tale (hulu)
-terminal list (prime)
-Norsemen (comedy, hilarious! on Netflix)
-the Office (peacock)
-The Wire (hbo)
-Billions (showtime)
-Homeland (showtime)
-red oaks (prime) -
The Wire is a an all timer. Well written and wraps the bow on the whole package.
-
One show that ended too soon. Deadwood. Really enjoyed that one.

Deleted UserAugust 15, 2022 at 8:58 pmI’ve recently been watching Amazon Prime’s “Terminal List” while covering the ER stats. It’s decent.
On another note, for those who do barbell lifts, I’ve been watching youtube channels of Alexander Bromley and Chad Wesley Smith on programming, outstanding content. -
I found myself ****canning Paramount, Disney, Netflix, and Hulu because I hadn’t watched anything for months but was paying them a lot of cash. Prime is next now that they are essentially AliExpress. Still have HBO Max and binge Friends.
-
got a friend’s HBO password for a while so using it.
just in time for Barry season 3 … it’s been a couple years since I watched the first two so currently in a re-do …. it’s funny again.
Considering a full return to the Wire. -
The Wire was really well written. I saw some previews of this show White Lotus from HBO. Looks like it might be funny. Probably going to check it out. Got a 90% Tomato score and 70% user like.
-
mrs_dergon and I re-binging Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
Just as smart and funny the second time around. -
was a good show. Weeds is one I watched twice.
I did kick off West Wing. Never really watched it but it seems pretty good so far. -
Binge-watching is the practice of watching entertainment or informational content for [link=https://slope-unblocked.org/] slope unblocked[/link] a prolonged time span, usually a single television show.By 1854, we find binge as a noun and verb extended to heavy drinking bouts, as if soaking the body with alcohol.in ways you may not expect. Among the concerns researchers have raised are decreased physical activity, sleep problems and fatigue, blood clots, heart problems, poor diet, social isolation, behavioral addiction, and cognitive decline.
-
Just binged Good Omens 2 … I really liked both seasons.
(The book upon which the first season is based is also absolutely wonderful) -
After talking about it for a couple of years, we’re back to it …
a complete re-do binge of Game of Thrones

Just watched Loki, which I liked. Now into WandaVision …. also enjoyable.
I am late to the game on the Marvel cinematic universe… never really got into the big blockbusters. But I made a pandemic effort to get some fluency. And now the more I watch the more I enjoy.
I definitely these spin-off series a lot.-
I liked the shows like Daredevil and Punisher on Netflix before they got axed.

Kobra Kai-total cheese, but great nostalgia

Man in the High Castle-opening credits will make you want to punch your TV, great show though
Turn-Revolutionary war spies
Doc Martin-British-well written
The IT Crowd-One of the best comedies… so well written. Also British-Frustrated with you IT dept…? They get it.
Foyle’s War- WWII era detective on south coast of England begins 1940-fantastic
Manifest-Cheesy
Yellowstone-Take em to the train station
The Americans-I get to practice my Russian. -

“Don’t f*ck with cats” … documentary series about an internet cat group trying to track a psychopath. No spoilers!-
Finished Bosch. That that ending was kind of blah. Started Titans on HBOmax. It’s like Robbin without Batman. Except Dick Grayson does some violent butt kicking with a little but of X-men mixed in.
-
-
I think it kind of went downhill when TJ Miller went goofy and got written off. HBO usually has some good stuff.
Bored to Death was pretty funny.
So ran through a British show quickly. Toast of London. Pretty funny.
-
Reno 911.
How did you even start doing peoples taxes Terry?

Sopranos
The Wire
Rome (HBO)
Mad Men
Breaking Bad
Gomorrah
Narcos
Ozark
Better Call Saul
Zero Zero Zero
Suburra
Tenet
Dune
Sopranos prequel
The Immortal
Parasite-
Just finished season 1 of “The Great” … it’s like Bridgerton, Russia edition.
Season two drops in a couple of weeks.-
-
That was really good! (watched it back when it was running live.)
Streaming now I presume?-
Its on the Roku channel free streaming. I never watched it back at the time. Its enjoyable.
-
Taking a short break from News Radio. Started watching the Morning Show on Apple TV. Its pretty good IMO. I think it won some awards. Looks like 2 seasons.
-
Cheers was alright but I really am liking Frasier. Im kind of on a 80s and 90s sitcom kick. Stuff I didnt see because the TV antenna didnt work or it was past my bedtime. Trying to find a spot to watch Perfect Strangers for free
-
WKRP in Cincinatti. Just started that one. Got to watch the Turkey Drop episode last night. Pretty good. Didn’t realize Loni Anderson was in the show. I only know here Burt Reynolds wifey.
-
Burnt through new Letterkenny episodes. The Noah Dyck ones get me rolling.
Trying to figure out something else to watch. I picked up a month of Hulu/Disney to watch the ltetterkenny.
Tried a couple Wandavisions and the mandalorian. Not sure Im in love with either.
-
Anyone watch The Power Of The Dog?
Very good movie & characters, story and acting based on Thomas Savage story. I was afraid it was going to be some stereotypical portrayal but it’s Campion and she does not disappoint.

I’ve heard it’s well acted and I read the plot. It’s not something that I thought would be interesting but maybe I’ll give it a watch.
-
My wife and I tried …. I didn’t even make it all the way through. Felt like it was just a bunch of tense scenes strung together with decent cinematography.
Just like The Lighthouse for me …. everyone raved about it and it did nothing for me.-
I actually went and saw the new Ghostbusters at the local theater. It’s been out a while and I was only one in the theater. So I was comfortable enough with the covid situation. I enjoyed it. Kind of ties back to the orginal and it looks like it leaves it open for more films which I hope to see happen. We can all just pretend the one with the female ghost busters didn’t exist. Kind of like Rocky V.

2 Things:

He was in another funny one. I think it was Ted party day. Where they throw a guy named Ted into the lake instead of Tea like in Boston Harbor.
-
Hunkered down during a nor’easter and watching Time. Pretty good drama set in a Scottish prison.
-
I checked out the Righteous Gemstones on HBO. I kind of like it. Shows a bit weird but I enjoy some of the insults they hurl around.
-
Ozark season 4 is good and they leave a cliffhanger. I guess theres gonna be a part two of season 4.

Did watch Loki and I thought it was good. I’ll have to give The Animals show a watch.
I tried the Power of the Dog movie. Couldn’t make it through.
I’ve been watching some Mary Tyler Moore. It’s a funny show. Watched all the WKRP I could find on YouTube. Apparently it’s mostly unavailable due to copyrights on songs that might have been in the show. So you got to find it on YouTube.

1883 on Paramount (prequel to Yellowstone …. I love a western)
Just re-binged Picard in anticipation of the season 2 release next week.
-
I want to watch Yellowstone but I dont have a way to see it from the start. I might need to try another streaming service for a month.
-
-
I need something new. I tried to start Bob Newhart but I can’t seem to get into it. Watched like 10 episodes but i’m not seeing the draw for being renowned as a good sitcom.
I think I’m going to break down an pay the $4.99 for a month of peacock as it looks like you can stream Yellowstone there.-
Just started re-watching the John Adams HBO miniseries. Wow… still really good. Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney both excellent
(After finishing Chernow’s George Washington autobiography it made me want to follow up with Adams)
_______
Also watched the sit-com Ghosts. I wasn’t expecting much, but I like it.-
I like Ghosts. I have it set to record on my YouTube TV.
John Adams was good. If youre into the history stuff I know some people that swear Turn George Washingtons spies on AMC is really good.
Started watching Chuck. I think it was on NBC maybe like 2008ish. Im enjoying it.
-
Watched “Turn” serialized as it came out. I love Revolutionary War stuff.
-
-
Ive been thinking of that one.
I just finished Chuck. It was fun but the story got a little wonky at times.

Perfect Strangers. Im liking it. Cousin Larry and Balki. Good stuff.

I finished Ozark. I kind of didn’t like the ending.
Need a new show.-
Drive to Survive is pretty good. I was never really in to F1, but the behind the scenes personalities and money is rather interesting. Even Mrs. Walshnuc likes it.
