  • Stanford Body MRI Fellowship for Academic Year 2026-2027

Posted by Stanford Fellowship Recruit on August 30, 2024 at 1:57 am

We are currently accepting applications to the Stanford Body MRI Fellowship for the 2026 -2027 academic year.

This is a dedicated one-year clinical fellowship focused on providing advanced training in body magnetic resonance imaging across a wide range of clinical applications. Fellows will learn diagnostic skills from a high-volume balanced mix of clinical cases (approximately 70 cases/day as of 2024). Fellows will also learn a broader range of body MRI related skills through scanner-side exam optimization and troubleshooting, continuous quality improvement for artifact reduction, mentored translational research projects, interactions with referring physicians and tumor boards, and exposure to resident education. Fellows will work with dedicated body MRI faculty who have focused interests in body MR applications, techniques, procedures, and research.

Equipment includes 22 clinical 3T magnets (including two used for image-guided procedures), 3 clinical 1.5T magnets, 2 clinical PET-MR systems, and MR-guided focused ultrasound systems. The vendor mix is predominantly GE, but also includes Siemens and Philips scanners. In addition, the world-renown Lucas Center for Imaging is directly adjacent to the hospitals, and is the home of the research teams of twelve faculty. The Lucas facility houses two 3T systems, a 7T system, a PET/MR, and MR-guided focused ultrasound systems. By the end of the fellowship, trainees will have a comprehensive and deep understanding of abdominal/pelvic diseases, MR technologies/physics, MR equipment and safety, and research methodologies. Prior trainees have gone on successful careers following the completion of the fellowship, with the majority developing academic research programs or serving as medical directors for MRI in private practice settings.

Applications will be considered starting approximately 19 months prior to the start of the fellowship. We are following SCARD guidelines and will begin accepting applications for the fellowship year 2026-2027 starting on November 1st, 2024. You will be contacted if selected for an interview. For the fellowship year 2026-2027, interviews will start on January 13th 2025. Additional fellowship application information is available at: https://bodymri.stanford.edu/body-mri-fellowship/.
