Duckworth just penned a take no prisioners op-ed in the NY times in response to the Tucker Carlson attacks:

Tammy Duckworth is a piece of trash, a crippled no good anti-american stooge. She deserves everything she is getting in terms of bad coverage. In a sane world, that fat turd would never have been on a battlefield in the first place.

Perhaps this is just projection.  She gave two legs serving the country.  That about 2 more than the brain cells it took to come up with this drivel.

I said what I said because she’s stupid and anti-American. She deserves to get lambasted on every turn. I don’t care if she has legs or not, her heart is hardened. Of course you guys like her, you love marxist idiots, that’s what you are too.

“Its better for Mr. Trump to have you focused on whether an Asian-American woman is sufficiently American than to have you mourning the 130,000 Americans killed by a virus he claimed would disappear in February. Its better for his campaign to distract Americans with whether a combat veteran is sufficiently patriotic than for people to recall that this failed commander in chief has still apparently done nothing about reports of Russia putting bounties on the heads of American troops in Afghanistan.”

“So while I would put on my old uniform and go to war all over again to protect the right of Tucker Carlson and Donald Trump to say offensive things on TV and Twitter, I will also spend every moment I can from now until November fighting to elect leaders who would rather do good for their country than do well for themselves.”

That lists seems accurate to me.  He would get flack for about a day for picking Warren since shes’ white but then people would forget he even said anything about picking a black woman.

I think Duckworth’s mouth would be a huge liability.  She has said some pretty crazy things lately.  Rice has a lot of Obama baggage.  People don’t know who Demings is and she’s a cop.

To me, it’s Harris like 90%

I could get on with Duckworth.

Except for personal reasons (he likes her), I don’t see why Biden would pick Susan Rice.   It just invites a re-launch of constant screams of “Benghazi!”

Harris seems like the safe pick. Vetted through extensive previous campaigning.  Demographics work.  Sure, shes ambitious … but who isn’t at this level?

Harris also helps to blunt the GOP accusations of “Biden wants to defund the police”  … they’ll be stuck with tacking between “soft on crime” and “black voters should be scared of Harris because she was a prosecutor ” … so I doubt either would stick.

I could *maybe* see Warren if the governor of MA wasn’t a Republican.  Can’t cost a Senate seat with her replacement.

Black voters actually seem to like her a lot … and so do progressives.  But I think she takes more fire from the Right than Harris.

Biden Had Talking Points on Kamala Harris
[link=https://apnews.com/d3fc8b88cde56bac9f1e7b5e494fb019]Associated Press[/link]: As he took questions from reporters on Tuesday, Biden held notes that were captured by an Associated Press photographer. Harris name was scrawled across the top, followed by five talking points.
[ul][*]Do not hold grudges.[*]Campaigned with me & Jill.[*]Talented.[*]Great help to campaign.[*]Great respect for her. [/ul] Those are all observations Biden has made about Harris before. But they take on new significance following a recent Politico report that one of Bidens closest friends and a co-chair of his vice presidential vetting committee, former Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, still harbors concerns about Harris tough debate stage performance and that she hasnt expressed regret.
Harris Allies Call with Biden Team
Allies of Kamala Harris sought and received a meeting with Joe Bidens campaign staff this week after a leader of his vice presidential vetting team was quoted doubting whether shed be a loyal No. 2, [link=https://www.politico.com/news/2020/07/31/harris-allies-biden-call-dodd-389848]Politico[/link] reports.
Prominent supporters of the California senator asked for the virtual sit-down on the heels of a Politico report Monday that Harris is not a lock for VP. It quoted former Sen. Chris Dodd, one of four members of the vetting unit, remarking to a prominent Democratic donor that Harris had no remorse for attacking Biden during a debate last year.
Biden Plans to Interview VP Finalists This Week as polling data comes in
Sources close to the selection process tell [link=https://nbcnews.to/2Pn60Tw]NBC News[/link] that Joe Biden planned this weekend to drill down on vetting materials with the goal of narrowing the list down to a three or four candidates. But several factors stand in the way of a public announcement, which aides say is unlikely to come this week.

One key element, a person involved in the process said, was polling data the campaign was waiting on on each of the potential candidates. Even as the campaign looks to avoid a choice that could prove to be a political liability, the most important ingredient to Biden is having personal chemistry with the choice. Biden then hopes to meet with each finalist in person if possible, but at least virtually by midweek.

The running mate, whoever she may be, first and foremost has to be acting in support of the candidate and governing as a partner should he win. So I absolutely think thats the vitally important role. Its not about ones own profile.

I’m not sure that employment laws/rules apply to picking a VP since it’s not a guaranteed job and is an elected position.

That being said, I think what he means is that he should just pick whomever he thinks is the best choice.  It’s just a choice that will be judged via votes/public opinion.  For example, had Trump said he was only going to pick from white men, that wouldn’t be illegal either but obviously he would be judged for that.  Is it right/fair that we live in a world where choices are judged based upon the color of their skin and their gender?  Nope.

You pick the running mate that will provide the strongest support for your platform and candidacy.

John F. Kennedy selected Lyndon Johnson as his VP because Johnson was a Protestant and from Texas, a  Senator from below the Mason-Dixon line. 2 strong reasons.

Reasons like that are somehow evil now? It’s sexist and racist now because Biden is looking for a woman who is BLACK leaving poor white men out of consideration?

With Tucker Carlson’s complaint, who exactly is playing the sexist and race card?

That’s sort of the dilemma for all of our choices. The best candidates for the job rarely have the political chops to make it through an election.

Just about anyone can be more unifying than Trump.  There’s this alleged dislike for Trump in the GOP but no one is brave to come out against him (except Mitt).  It’s hard to imagine things getting worse than they are but never underestimate Putin’s Mitch.

VP debate isn’t until October.

Bidens Running Mate Pick Is Imminent

Joe Biden has told allies that he has interviewed every finalist in his vice-presidential search, and his advisers are planning an announcement for the middle of the week, the [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/10/us/politics/biden-vp-pick.html?referringSource=articleShare]New York Times[/link] reports.

In a sign that the choice is now in Mr. Bidens hands alone, the four-member committee that screened his potential running mates is said to have effectively disbanded its work is complete, and there is little left to do except for Mr. Biden to make up his mind.

__________

we are but days — perhaps merely hours — away from learning whether Trump thinks Biden’s VP is attractive.

There was still buzz around Susan Rice, too, with whom Biden has a long working relationship and who has vast experience in the White House including having a hand in handling a pandemic.

Probably Kamala.  Is there any chance Joe will pick Michelle Obama?  That would be a crushing defeat for the GOP.  I would hate that outcome myself.

It’s Rasmussen, so grain of salt … but even if off by 10 points it’s still pretty crazy:

[/link]59% Think Biden Unlikely to Finish A Four-Year Term in White House

59% of Likely U.S. Voters believe its likely Bidens running mate will be president before the end of Bidens four-year term if he wins this fall, with 39% who say its Very Likely. Thirty-five percent (35%) consider it unlikely that Bidens vice presidential choice will be president before his four-year term ends, but that includes only 14% who think its Not At All Likely. (To see survey question wording, [link=https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/questions/pt_survey_questions/august_2020/questions_biden_vp_pick_august_6_and_9_2020]click here[/link].)

Even 49% of Democrats think its likely Bidens vice president will become president in the next four years, although that compares to 73% of Republicans and 57% of voters not affiliated with either major party.

That’s not crazy, that is a realistic appraisal of the situation. Most people have elderly relatives in their life and they know when its time to ask pops to give you the truck keys. He can still take the golf cart down to the mailbox, but if he needs to go somewhere, you just arrange for someone from church to drive him.

As always, you play the race card. We just want a real; ethical; logical[ black women to be President or VP, a Conservative. Not a man hating, flash in the pan, victim crying, race baiter. Someone who can keep on topic, be able to succeed in their own party without having to coat tail on the white man liberal agenda (wow sounds like a liberal sound bite when I do that! a…man hater). Why would we be afraid of your selection? They are… nobody’s. You should be more concerned about 2024 from our side actually.

Let’s see, here are some Real Black Women with character and wisdom. Not
– Condie Rice – (No one smarter, no one with more Grace and compassion as her)
– Alveda King (Do I need to say more?)
– Star Parker
– Janice Rogers Brown (the Dems trashed her under Bush) revenge would be swift.
– Amy Holms… Her genetics are just like Obama. African Father / White Mother.

So, in your opinion Frumi. Which one of the lovely black Ladies in Biden’s quiver do you want?

Pence is better than you think – see last VP debate.

I wonder if her utter destruction of Biden in the earlier primary debates will end up as a Trump ad – if the social media censors allow it anyway?

She is sharp but she will get hit on her tough stances as AG (I actually like but lefties hate) and that she “slept her way” into the position.  Although, Hillary pretty much did the 2nd thing too so it’s probably fine.

I think it’s a perfect choice for Republicans. As I mentioned before, Joe needs someone loud, a disruptor that pushes  the message wider and louder. There is so much info on her from the Dem debates, especially how Tulsi Gabbard put her in her place as a hypocrite. A true opportunist of self serving while sacrificing her own black community. I hope easy going Pence get’s her into her own corner with Yes or No direct questions. Watch the Video when Tulsi corners on her past record of hypocrisy. You can see the smirkness change and the defensive side come out. It was quite refreshing to see her be challenged and then be put back into her Elitist hole. In addition, I believe Kanye and Kim will have a few comments about her Weed prison record as Cali attorney General.

In addition, if they win, Joe will need help with the walker to bathroom. This will be fun.
Republicans’ Muddled Message on Harris
[link=https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/meet-the-press/republicans-had-months-prepare-harris-pick-their-message-muddled-n1236493]First Read[/link]: Joe Bidens pick of Kamala Harris to be his vice presidential nominee yesterday made history and it was also widely viewed in the political world as the likeliest choice. Which is why its so surprising that Republicans seemed so unprepared with a strategy to define her.

The GOPs messaging on Harris was mixed from the start. Is she a finger-in-the-wind pol or a hardened leftist? Power-hungry or just a puppet of radicals? In lockstep with Biden or causing a liberal revolt from disappointed progressives?

Is she actually against everything that Black Americans are screaming about today because of her record as a prosecutor? Or is she soft on crime and marching in the streets with the BLM organization?

Republicans have been struggling for months to settle on one coherent argument against Biden. And despite having months to prepare for an argument against his veep, the same muddle is happening with Harris.

You can see a sampling already of what the Trumpers are doing.  I’ve seen the name heels up Harris floated.  It’s like so she slept with everyone in California to get votes?

If she wants to fluster Pence in their debate she should wear something that’s cut a few inches above her knees.

Pence’s Mommy will be there holding his hand against impure thoughts and wily women. Pence & Mommy look at Harris & see Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion.

See what now?  Sometimes I don’t understand what you’re talking about.  What do horses have anything to do with the debate?

How long can she masquerade as a moderate?

Biden looked much better than trump today

Trump looked tired and haggard and could barely hold himself up

Biden looked refreshed and roaring to go

Id be rethinking the slow joe or sleepy joe theory

Well one works all day and one sleeps in the basement. I’m not surprised.
”Biden’s Biden” –
I asked Kamala to be the last voice in the room. To always tell me the truth, which she will. Challenge my assumptions if she disagrees. Ask the hard questions. Because thats the way we make the best decisions for the American people.

Nearly nine out of 10 Democrats approve of U.S. Senator Kamala Harris as their partys vice presidential nominee, and she is more popular than presidential candidate Joe Biden among women, young voters and some Republicans, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.

The latest poll also found that 56% of Americans have a favorable impression of Harris, which is about the same as the number who favor Biden. Forty-two percent of U.S. adults say they have a favorable view of Trump and 47% said the same of Pence.
Among women, 60% said they have a favorable view of Harris, compared with 53% who felt the same way about Biden. Women are the dominant force in American elections: they make up a bigger proportion of the U.S. electorate than men, and a surge in support for Democrats among white, college-educated women helped the party retake the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018.

The survey also found that 60% of Americans, including 87% of Democrats and 37% of Republicans, considered the selection of Harris the first Black woman and Asian American nominated for vice presidency to be a major milestone for the United States.
