UT MDACC 202223 Thoracic Imaging Fellowship Program Position
The Thoracic Radiology Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center is accepting applications for a 1-year Thoracic Radiology Fellowship starting July 1, 2022. A second year is also available for those interested in pursuing further clinical and research experience.
The Thoracic Radiology Fellowship Program is designed to educate fellows in the advanced interpretation of thoracic imaging with emphasis on cross-sectional imaging, including computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and positron emission tomography/computed tomography. Fellows will gain enhanced knowledge of the biology, epidemiology, diagnosis, staging, pathology, treatment and complications of malignant tumors, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, thymic malignancies, and mesothelioma. In addition, there is ample opportunity to see the myriad of infections and inflammatory conditions as well as therapeutic complications including drug toxicity, radiation injury and post-operative findings.
Fellows have the unique opportunity to work alongside a group of 14 full-time thoracic-trained radiologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center, the nation’s #1 cancer center and world-renowned for outstanding achievements in patient care, research, and education. Education and research are an integral part of the MD Anderson Cancer Center and numerous clinical and academic interests. Past fellows have published review articles in well-respected radiology journals. Fellows with a first-author oral scientific abstract presentation accepted at a national radiology meeting will be funded $1500 for the trip based on availability.
Under faculty supervision, the fellow will gain the knowledge required to provide imaging consults to providers and to manage contrast reactions. The fellow is encouraged to participate in at least one weekly multi-disciplinary conference. The fellowship includes 2 months total of optional elective time, including Cardiac Imaging and Nuclear Medicine Imaging.
