  • Tomo Images Vs. “Tomo Reconstruction” (HOLOGIC?)

Posted by jonhanse_770 on May 10, 2022 at 8:33 am

This was posted by XRayer31 in the PACS forum but I am hoping it gets better tread here as I have a client interested in this as well.
    Thanks

Does anyone store the TOMO RECONS that Hologic generates? Docs don’t use it to read a mammo and it just clogs up the study, but I was wondering what other facilities do. Also, I guess I’d like to ask if you don’t want to store them, can those images can be “turned off from sending”, at the modality? Treated like raw data? other thoughts?
    Thank you,

Are you talking about the C-view synthesized 2D views?

You can use those as your standard 2D views, thereby decreasing study dose substantially. Takes a little interpretation adjustment as suspensory ligaments look dense, etc. But weve been using them for years.

If you do standard 2D views plus tomo, you dont have to reconstruct or store the C-views. Close to double the dose that way.

Tomo is the most useless modality.

Dergon gets paid 95/RVU to read Tomos while younger rads in his group get paid 30/RVU.
