A Chinese startup company claims they have developed an EV battery that can charge from 0 to 80% in 6 minutes. That could be a leap forward for EV’s if it pans out.

Chinese startup Greater Bay Technology says its new “phoenix” cell can charge from 0% to 80% in six minutes regardless of the outside temperature thanks to its ability to heat the battery pack, [link=https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bloomberg.com%2Fnews%2Farticles%2F2023-06-06%2Fchinese-unicorn-claims-breakthrough-with-all-weather-ev-battery%3Fsref%3DLspfQlRv]according to a Bloomberg report[/link].

Auto-pilot needs some work. So as a response, Elon removed some of the sensors and radar units on the vehicles.

Bloody genius.

I *think* I might have found my next car.  Finally likely to take the jump.
[link=https://www.autoevolution.com/news/2025-ford-bronco-phev-reportedly-getting-18-kwh-battery-for-30-mile-electric-driving-range-218673.html]2025 Ford Bronco PHEV.[/link]
I’m only at 80k miles on my 2015 Audi Q7 now. So I figure by 2025 it will be time to get a new one.

Need a full size SUV for trips to Canada, hauling dogs, and transporting sailing gear, etc.  But I also do a lot of typical ‘suburban housewife’ driving (urban househusband, I suppose) around town and only have 10 miles to the office. So I should be able to the majority of my day-to-day without using gas.

sharp but there’s a zero % chance the car in these pictures in entry level affordable.

assuming people can plug-in and recharge at work (pretty common these days), that lets you do a 60 mile (roundtrip) commute solely on battery which should cover a lot of people. and yes covers trips to grocery, etc.

being able to charge up at home instead of going to the gas station so often is a big win for plug-in hybrids for those of us who probably aren’t candidates for pure EVs

PHEV seems like a good option right now. More affordable and can do a daily commute on battery. You still have full hydros for long haul.

Nice. Ill check it out. Been thinking about what to replace my
Model 3 with. Definitely has to have a much longer range and fast charging to make it a car for road trips.
