[b]Most Trump Voters Falsely Say Antifa Led Capitol Riots [/b]
When asked by a [link=https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2021/02/21/exclusive-trump-party-he-still-holds-loyalty-gop-voters/6765406002/]USA Today/Suffolk poll[/link] to describe what happened during the assault on the Capitol on January 6, 58% of Trump voters call it mostly an antifa-inspired attack that only involved a few Trump supporters.
Thats more than double the 28% who call it a rally of Trump supporters, some of whom attacked the Capitol. -

[b]QAnon’s corrosive impact on the U.S.[/b][/h1] [b]
[/b]
Tens of millions of Americans believe QAnon’s core — and false — theory that an evil cabal of Satan-worshipping elites commits atrocities against children and controls much of the world. Where does this movement stand and who has it impacted? Lesley Stahl reports.
[link=https://www.cbsnews.com/news/qanon-conspiracy-capitol-riots-60-minutes-2021-02-21/]https://www.cbsnews.com/n…60-minutes-2021-02-21/[/link]
-
The thing that intrigues me is that no matter how many times the Q stuff is wrong, people still believe in it. People are just completely mental.
-
-
One of the features about belief in conspiracy theories is how they are able to morph over time.
As new information comes in that might cause people using logic to be dissuaded, the conspiracist just changes the story to fit as needed.-

Just think about Covid-19
Half a million deaths in less than a year and many people on this board still think its just the flu or no hig deal
Unfortunately many people will just believe what they want no matter how illogical
-
One of my new favs that plays with the Q crowd is how the Flu never really came to fruition this year. So surely it’s a plot to make people take vaccines. It’s not like people are taking extra steps that would help prevent catching the flu. Washing hands, using sanitizer, wearing a mask, locking away the old people like gold in fort knox.

[h2][link=https://politicalwire.com/2021/02/24/the-dangers-of-reverse-engineering-your-politics/]Republican acceptance of Conspiracy Theories as part of ‘Reverse Engineering Your Politics'[/link][/h2] {paywall}
The simplest explanation for why were seeing [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/28/republican-party-is-not-position-now-take-hard-line-conspiracy-theories/]a rise in prominence[/link] of conspiracy theorists within the Republican Party can be summed up like this: voters and politicians will reverse engineer their understanding of reality to justify their political identity.
For example, there is no actual debate about whether the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol was a [link=https://madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/ron-johnson-airs-conspiracy-theory-about-fake-trump-supporters-in-capitol-riot-hearing/article_38e1e5a2-8188-56b4-ae8d-85c9cb4f11c1.html]false flag[/link] operation, nor is there any real debate over whether the snow during the recent deadly Texas freeze was [link=https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-not-fake-snow/fact-check-explaining-fake-texas-snow-posts-and-scorched-snow-videos-idUSKBN2AN1R8]actually fake[/link].
But what is real is that the fallout from these events was largely the result of Republican/conservative political and policy choices, making the team look bad and [link=https://www.newsweek.com/aoc-beto-orourke-raise-5-million-texas-dems-staff-houston-food-bank-1570835]potentially elevating opponents[/link]. To recognize these facts is to put ones political identity potentially at risk in terms of how power is distributed.
A voter could simply own up to this reality, but for many, its just too painful. Many would[link=https://politicalwire.com/2020/10/05/people-will-die-for-their-politics/]quite literally[/link]die for the stake theyve invested in their political identity.
But why exactly is it happening now? To paraphrase the smartest person I know (my wife): Imagine what kind of things you would need to believe in order to believe Donald Trump is not a deeply corrupt and immoral human being.
The only cure for this is repeated electoral disaster, whereby the penalty for such reverse engineering is so strong voters are incentivized to give up the game.
-
BS. Texas froze over because of the green new deal.

[b]Tucker Carlson goes searching for Qanon …. It’s “not even a website[/b]
Public policy can change dramatically on the basis of things people think they know but dont actually know, and we have seen that, a lot. Entire police departments got defunded. So its worth finding out where the public is getting all this false information this disinformation, as well call it.
“So we checked. We spent all day trying to locate the famous QAnon, which in the end we learned [b]is not even a website. If its out there, we could not find it. [/b]Then we checked Marjorie Taylor Greenes Twitter feed because we have heard she traffics in misinformation, CNN told us. But nothing there. Next we called our many friends in the tightknit intel community. Could Vladimir Putin be putting this stuff out there? The Proud Boys? Alex Jones? Who is lying to America in ways that are certain to make us hate each other and certain to destroy our core institutions? ”
Well, none of the above, actually. It wasnt Marjorie Taylor Greene. It was cable news. It was politicians talking on TV. Theyre the ones spreading disinformation to Americans. Maybe theyre from QAnon.[/QUOTE]
[link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/02/24/tucker-carlsons-we-could-not-find-qanon-comment-was-worse-than-it-appears/]https://www.washingtonpos…worse-than-it-appears/[/link]
Tucker Carlsons we could not find QAnon comment was worse than it appears[/h1]
Stripped of context, its a nonsensical claim. There is probably not any actual individual who is Q, the anonymous source of various random allegations and cryptic comments that serve as the basis of the quasi-religious conspiracy theory QAnon. But theres no question that the QAnon movement exists, that those edicts exist and that the effect has been poisonous to the American political conversation. QAnon isnt a website, but the conspiracy theory is centered around online content and [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/01/08/why-capitol-breach-was-more-dangerous-milestone-fringe-right-than-charlottesville/?itid=lk_inline_manual_5]online communities[/link].
What Carlson is engaged in here is disinformation. It is an attempt to falsely portray events to serve a narrative. His joke about how QAnon and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) werent sources of disinformation was true only insofar as he is looking only for sources of disinformation that might specifically lead to false perceptions about police shootings. But more broadly, his joke was in service to his own disinformation efforts about who can and cannot be trusted for reliable information.
As Fox Newss own lawyers said in response to a defamation lawsuit Carlson faced last year, Carlson himself is not such a reliable source. Viewers, they [link=https://www.npr.org/2020/09/29/917747123/you-literally-cant-believe-the-facts-tucker-carlson-tells-you-so-say-fox-s-lawye]said[/link], arrive with an appropriate amount of skepticism about Carlsons claims because they understand that he is exaggerating and engaged in non-literal commentary.
Except, of course, that many dont. And except, of course, that Carlson himself in no way sees himself as anything other than a champion of his own reality.[/QUOTE]

[h1]CPAC Speaker Angela Stanton King Promotes QAnon From Stage[/h1] [b]Speaker Angela Stanton King called for an investigation into QAnons baseless allegations of child sexual abuse and cannibalism.
[/b]
Lets address it, King said. So we know in this election, there were some things going on in regards to the conspiracy theories with Q, right? And I think, me as a person, before I ever got into the conservative movement, Ive always been an advocate even if its for abused children or its for those people that are incarcerated. So I think that any allegations coming forward in regards to any type of abuse when it comes to children deserves to be investigated, it deserves to be made aware of.
I think that, you know, once we find out, you know, whether this is true or not, then we can move on, but we at least have to be able to address it, King said, claiming that the media had tried to cancel her for her beliefs in QAnon.
King, who served two years in prison over an auto-theft ring and was [link=https://www.newsweek.com/qanon-gop-angela-stanton-king-trump-conspiracy-1539667]pardoned[/link] by Trump in 2020, once [link=https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/oct/15/angela-stanton-king-qanon-conspiracy-theory]stormed[/link] out of an interview after being confronted over her support for QAnon. A positive mention of QAnon from the CPAC stage marks another inroad into the GOP for the conspiracy theory, which has been linked to murders and other crimes. A number of QAnon believers took leading roles in the U.S. Capitol riot, breaking into the building and menacing police officers.

[b]Massive Facebook Study shows connection between Qanon and Vaccine Skepticism content[/b]
The companys data scientists divided the companys U.S. users, groups, and pages into 638 different population segments to explore which types of groups hold vaccine hesitant beliefs. The document did not identify how Facebook defined a segment or group different communities, but noted that the segments could be at least 3 million people.
Some of the early findings are notable: Just 10 out of the 638 population segments contained 50% of all vaccine hesitancy content on the platform. And in the population segment with the most vaccine hesitancy, just 111 users contributed half of all vaccine hesitant content.
…
The research effort also discovered early evidence of significant overlap between communities that are skeptical of vaccines and [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2021/03/11/with-trump-gone-qanon-groups-focus-fury-attacking-covid-vaccines/?itid=lk_inline_manual_14]those affiliated with QAnon[/link], a sprawling set of baseless claims that has radicalized its followers and been associated with violent crimes, according to the documents.[/QUOTE]

[b]One Republicans Lonely Fight Against a Flood of Disinformation[/b]
After losing an ugly congressional race last year, Denver Riggleman is leading a charge against the conspiracy-mongering coursing through his party. He doesnt have many allies. The undoing of Mr. Riggleman and now his unlikely crusade is revealing about a dimension of conservative politics today. The fight against radicalism within the G.O.P. is a deeply lonely one, waged mostly by Republicans like him who are no longer in office, and by the small handful of elected officials who have decided that they are willing to speak up even if it means that they, too, could be headed for an early retirement.
Ive been telling people: You dont understand. This is getting worse, not better, Mr. Riggleman said, sitting on a stool at his family bar one recent afternoon. People are angry. And theyre angry at the truth tellers.
…
Now he says it gives me shivers to be called a Republican. He hopes to show that there is still a way to beat back the lies and false beliefs that have spread from the fringe to the mainstream. It is a heavy lift, and one that depends on overcoming two strong impulses: politicians fear of losing elections and peoples reluctance to accept that they were taken in by a lie.

[h1]Ivanka Trump Posts Covid-19 Vaccination Photo, Here Are Responses From QAnon Followers[/h1]
Arieh Kovler created some montages of some QAnon follower claims, including allegations that Trump the Ivanka was, drum roll, please, faking it:[link=https://twitter.com/ariehkovler/status/1382776859608367109]https://twitter.com/ariehkovler/status/1382776859608367109[/link]
,\…some pointed out that Ivanka Trump didnt actually mention the word vaccine in her post. Then there were the posts wondering whether Trump the Ivanka had actually been executed:
Yes, executed. After all, as one of the posts questioned, would Ivanka dress like that? Surely, execution is the first thing that comes to mind when [link=https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/ivanka-trump-wears-12888-polka-dot-gown-state-dinner-004759898.html]someone whos worn a $12,888 gown[/link] is seen in just jeans and T-shirt. Isnt that whats meant by the saying jeans to die for, or the war in wardrobe? Not everyone echoed the fake vaccination photo or Trump executed his daughter conspiracy theories. Some simply expressed disappointment that the Trumps are pushing the jab agenda and lamented that noone is coming to save us:

Lin Wood has spent the last half hour on Telegram claiming to be searching the White House for Joe Biden.
He finishes the story with the claim that he went into the Oval Office and found Donald Trump at the Resolute Desk.
This is delusion at a whole other level.
Lin’s follow-up is to share a post from GhostEzra, a QAnon promoter who believes Joe Biden is actually dead and was replaced with a body double.

Oh, looks like Hillary Clinton died. And more to follow…
Former actress and current QAnon conspiracy theorist [link=https://apple.news/PQ2HkukM_DSE22TJsvt28TS]Cirsten Weldon[/link] claims that former Secretary of State [link=https://www.newsweek.com/topic/hillary-clinton]Hillary Clinton[/link] died last year of kuru, a rare brain-wasting disease associated with cannibalism.
Weldon added that German Chancellor [link=https://www.newsweek.com/topic/angela-merkel]Angela Merkel[/link] also suffered from kuru, but was “stage three,” and went on to claim that Clinton’s former campaign manager John Podesta “has been seized a long time ago.” She added that she believed infrequent appearances in the media were evidence that several others, like former Clinton aide Huma Abedin and former [link=https://www.newsweek.com/topic/fbi]FBI[/link] Director [link=https://www.newsweek.com/topic/james-comey]James Comey[/link], had “obviously” been seized as well.
“Obviously, when you don’t hear from them for a long time, like Podesta, John Podesta, Huma Abedinthey’re seized,” said Weldon. “I mean, I exposed Comey 4/4 last yearApril the 4, arrested. He has not been home to his house and his family hasn’t been there for over a year.”
Weldon said that Democratic donor [link=https://www.newsweek.com/topic/george-soros]George Soros[/link], a figure frequently mentioned in far-right conspiracy theories, had “passed years ago” and “if you see him out there, it’s probably a clone.” She also bragged about knowing “the location of every [link=https://www.newsweek.com/topic/nasa]NASA[/link] office” and said she would be delivering speeches at “each and every” one of the space agency’s offices once “our POTUS,” former President [link=https://www.newsweek.com/topic/donald-trump]Donald Trump[/link], “comes back” into the White House.[b] [/b]
[b]The bizarre claim that Clinton contracted and died of kuru, which was last observed over a decade ago among cannibals in Papua New Guinea, may be explained by the fact that the QAnon conspiracy also claims that figures like Clinton sometimes literally eat children as part of a Satanic ritual and to gain vitality by harvesting the substance “adrenochrome.”[/b]

[h1][b]QAnon Just Keeps Making Inroads into New Age Wellness Circles[/b][/h1]
[link=https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-06-23/covid-adds-to-california-yoga-wellness-qanon-problem]As new reporting indicates[/link], QAnon has infiltrated L.A.s wellness circles during the pandemic to an even greater degree than previously known. [link=https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-06-10/orange-county-extremist-leader-indicted-in-capitol-riot]According to the [i]Los Angeles Times[/i][/link], several New Age spiritualists knew more than a dozen people from yoga, meditation, and other circles who traveled to Washington D.C. to take part in the Capitol riot. Some of the participants had been encouraged to promote controversial ideas as a way to build a social media following, either to launch a channel or simply endure during a pandemic that precluded many in-person classes and events.
Primed by nearly a year of [link=https://www.lamag.com/citythinkblog/influencers-plandemic-conspiracy/]rallying against[/link] science-based understanding of the novel coronavirus, including promoting a video that claimed a shadowy cabal of scientists and companies were linked to the rise of the virus, many in the wellness community were especially susceptible to the kinds of theories that fomented the insurrectionists. Underpinned by a belief in alternative therapies, spiritualists and wellness influencers have long embraced special access to informal knowledge and a distrust of authority.Far from being infiltrated by QAnon, it could be the case that New Age thinking has always been a breeding ground for conspiracy theories.
