I believe she will. She brings another dynamic to the party which seems to been noticably divided and weekend over the last 6 years by our own hand i.e. Christie / Rand. She comes across as a no nonsense, straight shooter, with a better gab and focus on issues far better than the majority of political lawyers out there. I’m tired of legal Mumbo Jumbo dialouge. “They’re not always right, they’re just never wrong.”

Though she’s not originally from Wyoming, she seems to have (like her mom and dad) the Wyoming attitude still in tack even after spending time in the DC area. Meaning… get it done; do it right; honor and respect your neighbors; take care of what you worked for; remember your success is up to you… not someone else and…. most of all…. your word is your bond. NOT… schmoozing with elitists; be a Hollywood sensation; makeing open promises’ and then not honoring what you’ve said. This country needs a different no nonesense approach, how about the Cowboy way? You’ll get a straight answer and they’ll even say their wrong!

If she does go forward, the match between Hilary and Liz would be interesting to watch. Cause….someone’s gonna be fly’n out of the Saloon head first and it’s not going to be an Arkansa New Yorker.

What makes someone from Wyonming better than someone from DC or Hollywood? What has the state of Wyoming produced since the history of mankind that comes close to DC? The state has been receving more from the federal government thant it actually collects in taxes, approximately $ 1.37 from DC for every $1 it sends to DC. Wyoming is a welfare state with no major cities, universities, hospitals, or companies. If there is a Wyoming attitude, its to take more than you give and then blame everyone else for spending too much!

I am not saying that someone should be discounted because they are from Wyoming, all I am saying is that just because someone is from Wyoming, it doesn’t make them any different than any one else.

[/link]

After Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi announced his retirement, Mitch McConnell and his team offered Cheney, the states sole House member and the chambers No. 3 GOP leader, what they and many of Cheneys close allies thought was a no-brainer: a mostly clear path to the U.S. Senate seat in a reliably Republican state. The job comes with a larger microphone, they argued, and would set her up for a Cabinet position in foreign policy or national securityCheneys passionor a presidential run in 2024 or 2028.

To their shock, she turned them down.

Two things seemed certain to most: Cheney wouldnt pass up a safe Senate seat without having set her sights on becoming the first Republican woman to be speaker of the House, and she wouldnt have made the decision without consulting her father and mentor, former Vice President Dick Cheney.

Wow… a 7 year old post brought back to life. Still to this day, the Left is still afraid of a strong, logical Republican Woman. In addition, she doesn’t always follow the rights desires in her own party. Tell me about any woman on the left that actually pushes against some of her own parties diatribe and not be chastised or shamed in doing so. If you do… Granny Nancy gonna have you removed.

I’m a not at all afraid of Cheney as a leader. Actually I find it fascinating and think she has the chance to have an effective and historic political career.

Should she oust the coming GOP leadership in 2021 and wind up minority leader, the dynamic between Cheney and Pelosi will be interesting to watch.

The best thing for Cheney would be a Dem House, Senate, and Presidency. She can then blame House GOP leadership for the loss and potentially become minority leader in a few months.

Then,  she counts on Democratic over-reach and hopes for a backlash Red Wave in the 2022 midterms  like the  2010 Tea Party election that makes her the first woman GOP majority leader.

I stated exactly what her personality is like. And she did the right thing for her style of politics. I never said she would follow the lines of the party 100% like your party does. Please remember Joe and Kamala with granny Nancy will be facing Sandy Cortez and the Squad here in the next 100 days. I feel some is going get sent to their rooms for misbehaving. Hopefully YOUR media will report it truthfully.

I’m a little disappointed in my party as we didn’t beat the Dems time line of talking about impeachment for Joe right after his inaugurated. Maybe the Repubs are just sitting back and waiting for the train wreck about to come. Two things already in the new on MSN that seem disturbing and it’s coming from the Left News Organization.

My take is they were aiming at $2000 from the start, and they got the $600.  So now they’re looking for the $1400.  So $2000 is $2000.  It’s not going to be $2600.

I’m recalling that Biden was more about using technology to guard the border.  We’ll see what becomes of that.  He said immigration reform.  Make it happen.

Supposedly Mitch has his first filibuster ready for today.  Are we in for more obstruction for the sake of obstruction?  That way in two years he can say see nothing happened.

That is exactly correct.  It is *remainder* of the $2000 that didn’t get passed in the prior session of congress.

Yeah. Anyone in an R+12 district is going to get re-elected unless they lose a GOP primary.  That’s just the reality of the gerrymander.
(Same goes for dems ..they just have had fewer opportunities to draw districts)

Cheney is in the same boat.  She only doesn’t get re-elected if she loses a primary.   But she is also trying to build herself and her version of Republican politics as part of a brand that win support from the whole of GOP and also command a national majority.

She’s playing a long game … one with some risk. It is clear that her bet it that Trump will fade away quickly and that there will be a GOP realignment.  She plans to lead that realignment.

If there is huge blowback that persists through 2022 she could see a well-funded primary challenge.
Liz Cheney: Crazy or Brave?
When Liz Cheney voted last week to impeach the president, it was, depending how one sees the last four years, an act of great bravery or supreme arrogance. President Trump, after all, carried her home state of Wyoming with 70% support, more than anywhere else in the country, the [link=https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2021-01-19/trump-impeachment-liz-cheney-wyoming-politics]Los Angeles Times[/link] reports.

Cheney called her vote a matter of conscience and a straightforward decision, having nothing to do with party or politics.

Of course, thats not how these things work. House Republicans were nearly unanimous in supporting the president and some, crying betrayal, demanded Cheney surrender her leadership post.
Trump poll shows impeachment backlash hitting Cheney
The former president’s new PAC paid for a survey in Wyoming showing Rep. Liz Cheney’s popularity at a low point after her impeachment vote.

According to a memo outlining the results, 73 percent of Republican voters and 62 percent of all voters in Wyoming expressed an unfavorable view of the three-term congresswoman. Just 10 percent of Republican primary voters and 13 percent of general election voters said they would vote to reelect her. The survey of 500 likely voters, which was conducted Jan. 25-26 by Trump pollster John McLaughlin, also presents Cheney as profoundly weak in a Republican primary. The congress member trails 54 percent to 21 percent in a head-to-head matchup against one of her announced opponents, state Sen. Anthony Bouchard.

These people will still believe in fantastic paranoid fantasies unless and until the right-wingnut, and I do mean wingnut! media stops their spreading of lies and changes their business plan from spreading conspiratorial fear, anger, anxiety and doubt.

But then, follow the money right to their doors. The reason for right-wingnut media is simply money. There is money in them thar hills spreading and stoking fear and anger. Or are all the Fox stars & Rush’s & Alex Jones’s in it for humanity’s sake?

Never thought I’d see the day, the Editorial Board of the WSJ preaching rationality.

Proving TRump & Trumpets are yesterday’s news?

Maybe. Insanity is not cured overnight. All the things Greene believes have been mainstreamed by Republicans for years now. So, sanity will return not too soon I think.

[link=https://www.wsj.com/articles/house-republican-reckoning-11612309178]https://www.wsj.com/artic…-reckoning-11612309178[/link]

Minorities in the House of Representatives are rarely relevant, but the current GOP minority is only a few seats from taking back control. That makes its deliberations Wednesday over two of its Members an important message about the partys potential return to power.

Ms. Cheney should get credit for daring to stand alone despite the political risks. The Trumpians are vowing to defeat her in a primary in 2022, and Rep. Matt Gaetz, a Trump acolyte, flew to a rally in Cheyenne last week to stir up opposition. Donald Trump Jr. called into the rally to promote a primary challenge to her in 2022.

If bowing before all things Trump is the litmus test for being a loyal Republican, the party should get used to continued losses in the suburbs. Mr. McCarthy should be defending his colleagues vote as a matter of principle, even if he disagreed with it, rather than living in fear of the wrath of Mar-a-Lago.

As for Ms. Greene, Democrats are trying to make her the face of the GOP after stories have emerged that she bathes in internet misinformation. The news last week was a [link=https://www.wsj.com/market-data/quotes/FB]Facebook[/link] post from 2018 in which she speculated that Californias wildfires were really started by a space laser. Somehow the Rothschilds were involved.

She has promoted the QAnon nonsense and called Mr. Trump the right leader to defeat this global cabal of Satan-worshiping pedophiles. She has said theres no evidence a plane hit the Pentagon on 9/11 and suggested the 2018 Parkland, Fla., school shooting was a false-flag event.

Congress has had many oddballs over the decades, but in our social-media age the opposition will try to turn the words of even a single Member against the whole party. Thats the GOPs Marjorie Taylor Greene problem. Congress today also has many Members like Mr. Gaetz, who view the House as a platform for their personal political brand rather than a place to legislate.

The main goal of the House minority is to become the majority, and in 2022 Republicans should have an excellent chance. But theyll squander it if they purge serious Members like Liz Cheney and let themselves be defined by conspiracy theorists and Parkland truthers.

How many votes does it take to pass the resolution to expel her?

They need to do the same with Boobers.

How about not giving her any committee assignments and booting her from the republican caucus.  She can join Trumps ‘Patriot Party’.

Kinzinger Upset with GOP Ovation for Greene

Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) a standing ovation after she apologized for her past controversial remarks.

Said Kinzinger: I dont like to reveal a ton of conference details, but she stood up and kind of gave a bit of contriteness, but then it pivoted to theyre coming after you next.’

Marjorie Taylor Greene just gave a floor speech disavowing everything shes ever said in those videos. Its  really some Bulls*hit.

highlights included -=that she shouldn’t have been allowed to believe conspiracies…

and ends with the media is just as guilty as Qanon. Not taking any responsibility.

At least she is now on record saying that 9/11 actually happened.

Liz Cheney Is Ready to Lose But Shes Not Ready to Quit
[link=https://www.nytimes.com/2022/08/07/us/politics/liz-cheney-is-ready-to-lose-but-shes-not-ready-to-quit.html]New York Times[/link]: The most closely-watched primary of 2022 has not become much of a race at all. Polls show Ms. Cheney losing badly to her rival, Harriet Hageman, Mr. Trumps vehicle for revenge, and the congresswoman has been all but driven out of her Trump-loving state, in part because of death threats, her office says.

Yet for Ms. Cheney, the race stopped being about political survival months ago. Instead, shes used the Aug. 16 contest as a sort of a high-profile stage for her martyrdom and a proving ground for her new crusade. She used the only debate to tell voters to vote for somebody else if they wanted a politician who would violate their oath of office. Last week, she enlisted her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, to cut an ad calling Mr. Trump a coward who represents the greatest threat to America in the history of the republic.

In a state where Mr. Trump won 70 percent of the vote two years ago, Ms. Cheney might as well be asking ranchers to go vegan.

Liz Cheney promises ‘many, many criminal investigations’ into Trump’s ‘assault’ on the US Capitol

Somebody who has provoked an attack on the United States Capitol to prevent the counting of electoral votes, which resulted in five people dying, who refused to stand up immediately when he was asked to stop the violence, that is a person who does not have a role as the leader of our party going forward. We should not be embracing the former president.

Kevin McCarthy tried to get Liz Cheney to apologize for voting to impeach former President Trump before last week’s highly anticipated House GOP conference meeting a request she refused.

Based on her quote from the Sunday shows today, I think her reply sums up as “F*ck you, Qevin. I’m coming for your job.”
Trump Angry at Kevin McCarthy over Liz Cheney
Its become so frequent that his advisers think the House minority leader may be in for a public reprimand. Thats even after the powwow at Mar-a-Lago where McCarthy tried to patch things up after he denounced Trump for the violence on Jan. 6.

The reason for Trumps displeasure: an emboldened Cheney.

Each time Cheney criticizes Trump from her leadership post as the No. 3 House Republican, hes reminded that it was McCarthy who pleaded with his conference to keep her on as chair despite her vote to impeach Trump.

I think we have a huge number of interesting candidates, but I think that were going to be in a good position to be able to take the White House. I do think that some of our candidates who led the charge, particularly the senators who led the unconstitutional charge, not to certify the election, you know, in my view, thats disqualifying.

The McCarthy vs Cheney PPV fight I’d pay to see.  I don’t see how republicans right the ship without a brawl to see who comes out on top.  It’s the Trumpsters vs what I think is the more traditionally GOP.  I just don’t see what the play is.  As McCarthy how do you demote Cheney?  As Cheney how do you deal with Trumpsters?
GOP Leaders Threaten Cheney Ouster
Top Republicans are turning on Rep. Liz Cheney, the partys highest-ranking woman in Congress, with one conservative leader suggesting she could be ousted from her GOP post within a month, [link=https://www.axios.com/gop-leaders-cheney-ouster-fc28f6c2-507e-4a69-b4c4-6af95cc734fc.html]Axios[/link] reports.

The comments by Reps. Steve Scalise, the minority whip, and Jim Banks, chairman of the Republican Study Committee, carry weight because of their close relationship with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy who is openly feuding with Cheney.

Playbook:

It might be counterintuitive, but some Republicans are speculating that Cheney wants to become a martyr on this issue. If she runs for president someday, there is no doubt which lane she will claim. And being able to say she stood her ground even in the face of a mutiny from her own colleagues would be a badge of honor, they say. But if shes ousted from leadership, does that mean her career in the House is over?

Cheney apparently sees this fight as a battle for the soul of the Republican party. Its just not clear its a fight she has any chance of winning
Liz Cheney Triples Down
We cant embrace the notion the election is stolen. Its a poison in the bloodstream of our democracy. We cant whitewash what happened on January 6 or perpetuate Trumps big lie. It is a threat to democracy. What he did on January 6 is a line that cannot be crossed.

2022 general election will decide how that works out. If its a bloodbath and many of the trumpists get thrown out, she has an opening to come in and rebuild. If it goes the other way, she is out for good.

I’m not sure I see the opposition intensity at this point.  Trump is saying the right things about helping Republicans retake Congress, but it will be interested how much work he actually puts in.  And even if he does campaign for others, will the Trump wing of the party come out to vote when he isn’t on the ballot.

And then there is redistricting and the voter law changes all stirred into the mix.

Re the 2022 mid-terms I am truly fascinated.    At this point in both the Trump and Obama Presidencies there were established grass roots opposition movements already making a ton of noise (the Tea Party and the Resistance respectively)

Trump Still Ranting About Rigged Election’:
Former President Donald Trump [link=https://twitter.com/MysterySolvent/status/1388184669821313026?s=20]was filmed at Mar-a-Lago ranting[/link] about the unofficial election audit being conducted by Republicans in Arizona, and insisting that theyll be finding votes in other states to prove he won the 2020 election.

[/link]The 2020 presidential election was not stolen.  Anyone who claims it was is spreading THE BIG LIE, turning their back on the rule of law, and poisoning our democratic system.

[link=http://rss.cnn.com/~r/rss/cnn_allpolitics/~3/kelcIJqtFQQ/index.html] Kevin McCarthy’s dishonest explanation for getting rid of Liz Cheney[/link]

{House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy on a Fox News Interview}   – ”No, there’s no concern about how she voted on impeachment. That decision has been made. I have heard from members, concerned about her ability to carry out the job as conference chair, to carry out the message. We all need to be working as one, if we’re able to win the majority. Remember majorities are not given they are earned, and that’s about the message about going forward. Combating Joe Biden what he’s done to this border. … Just what he’s doing here about small businesses, not opening schools, not getting us back to work, back to health, back to normal. That’s the message we should be talking about. I haven’t heard members concerned about her vote on impeachment, it’s more concerned about the job ability to do. And what’s our best step forward that we could all work together instead of attacking one another.”

The Republican Party is — and has been for years now — a cult of personality around Trump. In place of a set of shared principles and values, total fealty to Trump has become the core of what it means to be a Republican. One needs to look no further than Cheney’s solid ratings from conservative groups — a [link=https://heritageaction.com/scorecard/members/C001109/117]98% score from Heritage Action in the 117th Congress[/link]! — to see that this unhappiness directed toward her has zero to do with actual conservative policy differences and everything to do with currying favor with the former President.

Cheney now looks likely to be ousted from her job as Republican Conference Chair. But don’t get it twisted — that removal has everything to do with her belief that Trump crossed a critical line during the January 6 riot at the US Capitol and nothing at all to do with her ability to help direct the party’s policy messaging.
