  • ISO a medical physicist to approve Mammo monitors

Posted by alikuraimi74_162 on September 19, 2022 at 8:48 am

We have a new radiologist reading fully remote and I need to have her mammo monitors inspected by a physicist. I know this is a long shot, but does anyone have a contact for a physicist thats certified to approve mammo monitors in or around Arlington Heights, IL (45 minutes northwest of Chicago, close to O’Hare)? I’ve come to find out this is not an easy task.

Check the local hospitals. Radiology should be able to tell you who their phsyicist is then see if he/she can do side work and certify them. Nearly all the hospitals especially the larger ones have a medical physicist on staff.

After more research,  I’ve learned I have to have a physicist who’s certified in the states she’ll be reading for do the acceptance testing and certify the monitor. The physicist I use locally is flying there to complete the task. Thank you for the response, my next step was to start calling mammo coordinators at hospitals/clinics close to her.
