  • Home monitor

The home monitor I have for fellowship is a standard IPS monitor and it stinks.

Can anyone recommend an affordable (sub 1k) new or used monitor for overnight reads?

I like this one, it can be partioned (needs Dell Display Manager as far as I know) if your PACS prefers that.

What are the minimum monitor requirements for CT / MR / Xray?
      Resolution? Brightness? Anything else?

no legal requirements except for mammo.  3 MP is recommended.

I use 4K consumer tv,  chose one with max lumen output and contrast.

Properly adjusted there is no discernable diff on side by side comparison with med grade Barco,  specifically looking at bone detail or small pneumothorax.

Monitor? I use my iPhone and ask Siri a lot of questions, just like with OLA. Lol.

Lots of word salad. All I can make out is a 2560 x 1440 27in 3MP display. For plain films, you would probably want two in portrait mode.

DICOM is also a distinction, no? That means its particularly geared to diagnostic imaging
Also, not reading plain film thankfully

There are other higher end monitors that allow you to install a custom ‘Look Up Table’ (LUT) to conform to the dicom standard. This monitor comes bundled with the software that allows you to perform the calibration and install the LUT for the driver to use.

This is geared to be a ‘clinical review’ monitor. That is on a workstation in the OR or the ER physician workroom.

If I have only one monitor, I want to have at least 32in.

I think all those gimmicks and specialty programs don’t help much. I use an off the rack 3MB monitor, that was initially used at the hospital.  It’s actually fine for xrays.  I just enlarge all the items with the mouse and have not missed anything in many years using it.  Earlier this year, I compared it with the latest hospital monitors and there is no significant difference that I perceived.
