Musk threatens meta over creation of a copy cat platform
📍BREAKING—Twitter just formally wrote Zuckerberg & threatened to sue #Meta over #Threads.

Wait. No competition allowed in the get a message out over social media space?
-
Zuckerberg and Musk clearly hate each other. And unlike Mastodon situation, Meta’s deep pockets will give this legs.
It’s funny, never thought I’d see the day when Mark Zuckerberg and Meta were beloved by progressives. “The enemy of my enemy …” I guess. But wow, progressives *really* hate Elon Musk.-
Zuckerberg hiring all those Twitter employees that Musk fired
In a few months I bet threads looks as close to Twitter as legally allowable
30 million sign ups in a single day .. yes, the left hates Elon Musk to the point of being willing to cast Zuck as the good guy

This is amusing to watch these 2 go at it
That being said the Facebook people deny having former twitter employees – now Im sure if that is or is not true but if they are former employers I Dont think its illegal for them to actually find another job after being terminated

Twitter intends to strictly enforce its intellectual property rights, and demands that Meta take immediate steps to stop using any Twitter trade secrets or other highly confidential information, Spiro wrote in a letter obtained exclusively by Semafor. Twitter reserves all rights, including, but not limited to, the right to seek both civil remedies and injunctive relief without further notice to prevent any further retention, disclosure, or use of its intellectual property by Meta.
Spiro accused Meta of hiring dozens of former Twitter employees who had and continue to have access to Twitters trade secrets and other highly confidential information.

[link=https://radar.cloudflare.com/domains]As of Monday,[/link] Twitter is currently ranked 37 in Cloudflares list of top 100 domains, which coincides with the unpopular changes Musk has made to the site in recent months and the launch of Threads and other Twitter alternatives.

A leader of the hardline Islamist group, [link=https://news.sky.com/story/afghanistan-who-are-the-taliban-what-is-their-history-and-what-do-they-want-for-the-country-12382236]which seized power in Afghanistan in summer 2021[/link], said [link=https://news.sky.com/topic/elon-musk-6730]Elon Musk[/link]’s platform was a tolerant place that allowed freedom of speech to thrive.
Anas Haqqani offered his endorsement in a tweet on Monday, as it emerged that [link=https://news.sky.com/story/threads-launches-metas-twitter-rival-has-arrived-how-it-works-how-to-join-and-which-celebs-are-on-board-12915395]Meta’s new Twitter-like platform[/link] had amassed more than 100 million users in less than a week.
Haqqani, whose group has [link=https://news.sky.com/story/taliban-bans-womens-beauty-salons-in-afghanistan-12914813]banned women from university education, public spaces, and most jobs[/link], said Musk had nothing to worry about.
“Other platforms cannot replace it,” he said of Twitter, citing its commitment to “freedom of speech” and its “public nature and credibility”.
“Twitter doesn’t have an intolerant policy like [link=http://read%20more%20Why%20Threads%20could%20be%20the%20Twitter-like%20that%20catches%20on]Meta[/link],” he added.

[link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/07/13/twitter-creators-payments-right-wing/]Elon Musk starts paying Twitter influencers for content. The first payments go to Right Wingers[/link]

The platform is paying high-profile creators, including Andrew Tate, thousands of dollars for posting to the app
The first beneficiaries appear to be high-profile far-right influencers who tweeted before the announcement how much theyve earned as part of the program. Ian Miles Cheong, Benny Johnson and Ashley St. Claire all touted their earnings.
Wow. Elon Musk wasnt kidding. Content monetization is real, tweeted an anonymous account called End Wokeness, with 1.4 million followers, accompanied by a screenshot showing earnings of over $10,400.
…
Former Twitter staffers who worked on creator-focused products expressed skepticism over the rollout, with several calling it a PR stunt. One former Twitter executive who worked on creator partnerships and who asked to remain unnamed to avoid retaliation, said that, any kind of content monetization weve done in the past was based on a revenue model. This just feels pulled out of thin air for a specific subset of creators that he wanted to placate.
The former Twitter executive also cast doubt on Twitters revamped metrics, including impressions. The numbers are totally and completely bogus, she said. Its all completely made up. It really feels like theyre arbitrarily writing checks to people they like, which is not a sustainable creator strategy.

[link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/08/01/twitter-lawsuit-center-for-countering-digital-hate/]Twitter, now X, sues group that researched hate speech on platform
[/link]
In a lawsuit filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, X alleged that the American and British operations of the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) engaged in a series of unlawful acts designed to improperly gain access to protected X Corp. data.
…
The CCDH did not immediately respond to a request for comment early Tuesday regarding the lawsuit but [link=https://counterhate.com/blog/letters-from-the-lawyers-musk-threatens-ccdh-with-brazen-attempt-to-silence-honest-criticism/]said[/link] Monday that it had received a letter last week from X threatening to sue the organization over its work, which it said had exposed the proliferation of hate and lies on Twitter since [Elon Musk] became the owner.…
Musks actions, the CCDH said, represent a brazen attempt to silence honest criticism and independent research in the desperate hope that he can stem the tide of negative stories and rebuild his relationship with advertisers. Twitters owner has called himself a free-speech absolutist and [link=https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1602278477234728960?lang=en]taken aim[/link] at woke language.
X also alleged, without offering evidence for its claims, that the CCDH operations were activist organizations masquerading as research agencies, funded and supported by unknown organizations, individuals and potentially even foreign governments with ties to legacy media companies.
Elon Musks X is throttling traffic to websites he dislikes

The site formerly known as Twitter added a five-second delay when a user clicked on a shortened link to the New York Times, Facebook and other sites Musk commonly attacks, a Washington Post analysis found
[link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2023/08/15/twitter-x-links-delayed/]https://www.washingtonpos…itter-x-links-delayed/[/link]The company formerly known as Twitter on Tuesday slowed the speed with which users could access links to the New York Times, Facebook and other news organizations and online competitors, a move that appeared targeted at companies that have drawn the ire of owner Elon Musk.

What speech did he censor? The Hunter Biden laptop story right before an election? Oh, that was the prior owner, doing the bidding of the Biden administration and the corrupt portion of the intelligence community
Did the author of the article think to consider it may be some kind of coincidence? They say the Washington Post, possibly the most left leaning publication mentioned, was not affected, which Musk also routinely denigrates.

Its funny. Election interference because it benefits your party, no big deal.
Probable coincidental five second delay before linking to another website. CENSORSHIP!!!

WTF is election interference? It’s some made up BS that Trump came up with. Every criminal would run for office if you couldn’t prosecute them. Just pure dumb fudgery. Don’t do the crimes if you don’t want to be treated like a criminal.
-
Election interference. Like when the FBI warned social media outlets that a Russia hack and leak operation involving Hunter Biden would come out weeks before the election. When the FBI KNEW that the laptop was real because they had access to it and confirmed its authenticity in December 2019. Then the social media outlets said well theres the Russian disinformation the FBI was talking about, and they censored the Hunter Biden story. Literally a few weeks before the election.
According to polling, of the people that were made aware of the Hunter Biden laptop story, 53% would have changed their vote, including 61% of Democrats
THAT is election interference.
And the media and people like you dont care because it benefited your preferred candidate and you have no integrity.
Just like Sam Harris admitting that this was a true left-wing conspiracy to deny Trump the presidency. But he says it was warranted because we needed to stop Trump from getting democratically reelected no matter what (Video link below) He said the quiet part out loud. They conspired to interfere in the election. And it worked.
Talk about a threat to democracy.
And I dont even like Trump. I like honesty, integrity, and logical consistency. #Vivek2024.

Two Brands Suspend Twitter Ads Over Nazi Posts
At least two brands have said they will suspend advertising on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, after their ads and those of other companies were run on an account promoting fascism, [link=https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/16/tech/x-ads-pro-nazi-account-brand-safety/index.html]CNN[/link] reports.
The issue came less than a week after X CEO Linda Yaccarino publicly affirmed the companys commitment to brand safety for advertisers.-
What is fake news, DICOM?
It is 100% true and accepted by all parties that all of this is true:
the FBI warned social media outlets that a Russia hack and leak operation involving Hunter Biden would come out weeks before the election. When the FBI KNEW that the laptop was real because they had access to it and confirmed its authenticity in December 2019. Then the social media outlets said well theres the Russian disinformation the FBI was talking about, and they censored the Hunter Biden story. Literally a few weeks before the election
Ask your more well-read compadres, dergon and Frumious if this is true.
It is true. But they dont care because the means (censorship of true information) justify the ends (Trump not getting elected).
And the Democrats say that democracy is under attack
-
What brands, dergon?.
The new CEO made it pretty clear recently that advertisers will be able to pick and choose what types of tweets they do not want to be advertised along side of.
-
NCTA and Giliead Pharm
Adobe, NYU, U Maryland all also involved.
Twitter didn’t respond for comment, but now the Nazi account seems to have been suspended overnight.
