    This is not “envy”.

I don’t begrudge Wilbur Ross or Betsy deVos flying private. They pay for it out of their own $$ billions.

What is improper and should rightly end (and possibly be considered a firing offense) is using private travel for routing government business that does not require it.

And what should absolutely be a firing offense is using government private jets paid for by the tax payer to fly to your beach house for vacation.

Corruption is at the highest levels in the US.  3rd world corruption is open for all the see, from the top to the bottom.  Here, it is just hidden at the top.

Friend’s dad use to lease medical office space to Price in Georgia a few decades back.

His dad said he was always behind on payments, still owes him some money, but it wasn’t worth suing over.

Not surprised by this at all, Price sound like a total narcissist.

I’ll take that bet.   14 million is 1%-er territory, but it looks as if Dr. Price has acquired  tastes more like the 0.1%.   He’ll take a huge J-Street payday before the end of 2018.

Hypocrisy is what is hard to swallow. As a congressmen he was very opposed to waste.

Also disappointed about much inconsistency in general about policy stances or unwillingness to have principles preferring to be included as a White House and power circles.

He is only opposed to waste by the other party. Any spending his part could never be waste in his little entitled mind. Ask Louise Linton.

That was the same problem the Clinton’s had. Bill hung around billionaires too much. Private jet travel started to seem comfortable and commonplace- everyone does it.

[b]Tom Price says GOP tax law will hurt the Obamacare exchanges[/b]

Tom Price, President Trumps first secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, said the Republican tax law would raise the cost of health insurance for some Americans because it repealed a core provision of the Affordable Care Act, the [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2018/05/01/trumps-former-health-secretary-americans-will-pay-more-because-gop-weakened-obamacare/?utm_term=.ab4eb6865731]Washington Post[/link] reports.

Said Price: There are many, and Im one of them, who believes that that actually will harm the pool in the exchange market, because youll likely have individuals who are younger and healthier not participating in that market, and consequently, that drives up the cost for other folks within that market.

(Compare to Summer 2017 when Price was head of HHS an shilling for team Trump The individual mandate is one of those things that is actually driving up the cost for the American people in terms of coverage, So what were trying to do is make it so that Obamacare is no longer harming the patients of this land no longer driving up costs, no longer making it so that theyve got coverage but no care.   {[link=https://www.axios.com/price-hints-hhs-might-weaken-individual-mandate-1513304531-30b2e21e-74a0-4cf6-b1fe-b6898291e1ea.html]ABCs This Week [/link]}  )

Please dont cynically sneak the circle-jerk non-sense lib crap into the general forum. Still quoting others media sources to make weak points that will never see the daylight in the mainstream.

[b]How Trumps health department fell in love with charter jets[/b]
      [b][/b]
[b]Documents offer new insight into the strategy of shuttling former HHS secretary Tom Price around America  [/b]

[link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/context/trump-officials-discuss-plan-for-charter-flights/4689d28b-9041-45a7-a839-e4543c0904e9/?itid=lk_inline_manual_13]The documents[/link]  released to The Post four years after Prices abrupt ouster following Politico reports about his charter-jet spending offer new insight into an early Trump administration controversy. The episode reshaped the federal health agency, with Price and his allies swiftly replaced by Alex Azar and a new leadership team, who came to believe that [link=https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/10/seema-verma-tom-price-081059]rival officials[/link] had worked to undermine Price and engineer his ouster. The claims drove a wedge between the departments leaders and fed [link=https://www.politico.com/news/2019/12/11/azar-verma-trump-082816]long-festering frustrations[/link] that exploded last year as coronavirus-related pressures bore down on the health agency, contributing to Trump officials fractured response to the pandemic.

As a Georgia congressman and member of the tea party caucus, Price positioned himself as a fiscal conservative, rising to chair the House Budget Committee in 2015 with a vow to slash wasteful government spending. The surgeon, an [link=https://www.politico.com/blogs/donald-trump-administration/2016/11/tom-price-health-human-services-secretary-donald-trump-231632]early supporter[/link] of Trumps 2016 presidential campaign, was rewarded with a Cabinet post; Trump praised Price as exceptionally qualified to shepherd our commitment to repeal and replace Obamacare.

But Republicans repeated failures to repeal the Affordable Care Act led Trump to sour on his health secretary, whom he blamed for not doing more to ensure success on Capitol Hill. That frustration curdled after reports of Prices extensive use of charter jets, which caught the White House by surprise and seemed to refute the presidents pledge to drain the swamp. Publicly chastised by lawmakers and privately berated by Trump, Price resigned 10 days after the news first broke.

The following year, the inspector general [link=https://oig.hhs.gov/oas/reports/region12/A121700002.pdf]concluded[/link] the charter-jet spending was a waste, saying Bardis had failed to justify his claims about Prices schedule or threats to his safety. For instance, Bardis argued that Price needed a charter jet to visit Nashville on June 6 because it was the only way to ensure the health secretary could join Trump for a White House event the same day. But the White House called off its event two days before Prices trip.

Rather than cancelling the scheduled chartered flight, the Office of the Secretary chose to continue with the chartered flight at a cost of $17,760, the inspector general found in July 2018. Price spent 90 minutes in Nashville touring a medicine dispensary and speaking at a health summit arranged by a longtime friend, in addition to [link=https://www.politico.com/story/2017/09/26/tom-price-private-jets-243176]having lunch[/link] with his son who lived there.

The inspector general also found no evidence that Prices team consulted with the departments security office to determine whether security of former Secretary Price would be negatively affected had commercial flights been used, according to the watchdogs 2018 report.

      [b]I need a rationale[/b]

I need a rationale on why you are not going with the lowest quote. This is significantly higher than other options and other vendor, contracting specialist Patrick Joy wrote to Williams on Aug. 11, as officials debated whether Price needed a Gulfstream jet to fly to Asia. The health department ended up setting aside more than $1.4 million to pay for Prices eight-day trip to China, Japan and Vietnam, according to documents obtained by The Post, which was separate from the $456,000 spent on charter flights in the United States.

Price took more than 30 flights aboard charter jets between April and September, often accompanied by top deputies and, on at least 10 occasions, Conway and White House staff. The trips typically included additional perks, such as onboard catering, which could be pricey the health department was quoted $534.37 for 10 boxed lunches for a Sept. 18 flight and was billed separately, according to the records obtained by The Post. One vendor spent nearly two months seeking reimbursement for catering on an August charter trip.

As [link=https://www.politico.com/story/2017/09/19/tom-price-chartered-planes-flights-242908]media reports[/link] exploded about Prices travel, the secretary was amid a five-leg charter jet trip that took him from his home in Atlanta to Florida and then Oklahoma. As reporters pressed the health department about his spending, Price and his staff canceled the final leg on Sept. 21 and took commercial flights instead. A charter jet dispatched to meet Price in Stillwater, Okla., then returned as planned to Atlanta, without HHS personnel aboard and still incurred more than $8,600 in taxpayer spending, the inspector general later found.

Had to look at the follow up

looks like Price is now on the board of directors for a marijuana company.

and also on the board of a Sanuwave, a wound care company

he had also spent >$100k from his congressional campaign account on personal expenses after leaving
