Democrats allege Comer has withheld evidence, misrepresented witnesses:
House Oversight Committee chairman says he is protecting whistleblowers who have desired to keep their identities confidential
House Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) has teased to television audiences over the past month that four different people have appeared before committee investigators to provide information regarding his inquiry into whether President Biden and members of his family were involved in an influence-peddling scheme.
On Fox News in March, Comer said he had even met with some of the four individuals personally, and in an interview with Breitbart News this week, he characterized the four individuals as whistleblowers.
But Comers media tour has confounded his Democratic counterparts on the committee. After inquiring with Comers staff about the reported new witnesses, they were assured that Comers statements in fact referred only to two individuals and no new witness information … had actually been provided, according to a letter sent by the committees ranking Democrat, Rep. Jamie B. Raskin (Md.), to Comer on Thursday and obtained by The Washington Post.

[link=https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-gops-feigned-struggle-to-repeal-bidens-signature-achievement]Daily Beast[/link]:
[h1]The GOPs Feigned Struggle to Repeal Bidens Signature Achievement[/h1] Republicans said they would repeal Bidens signature achievement, the Inflation Reduction Act. Now that they have the power to do so, they dont seem so eager to vote.
So far, the only noise on repeal has come from 20-some members of the far-right House Freedom Caucus, who introduced legislation to fully repeal it in March. There is no indication that their bill will be put on the floor anytime soon, but those lawmakers have demanded an undoing of the IRA as a condition of their vote to raise the U.S. governments borrowing limit.
…
House Republican leadership has already signaled a piecemeal approach. The GOPs omnibus energy package, which passed on Thursday, takes aim at several climate-focused aspects of the IRA, but not the largest ones, like the subsidy program for electric vehicles.
…
Through their Obamacare debacles, Republicans may have learned that its not only hard to totally undo a sweeping law; its also hard to undo a law years after it passed and piles of cash have gone out the door. The IRA included some $700 billion in direct federal investments.
…
The question for Republicans is how serious their right flank is about undoing the IRAor how much of their rhetoric is posturing that will be forgotten should the GOP return to power in Congress and the White House in 2025 or beyond.

any way to just create a trans division of sports? Have mens, womens, and trans. I think it’s a fair criticism that a guy shouldn’t be in the girls sports arena competing. Even Bruce/Kaitlyn Jenner says that he would wipe the floor playing the grandmas at his country club so he/she doesn’t get into senior womens events.

Jim Jordan getting lambasted for not sharing witness testimony is fun to watch. He’s not following the rules.

[b][link=https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/18/house-gop-fbi-whistleblowers-jan-6-00097740]House GOP embraces FBI whistleblowers despite bureau yanking clearances over Jan. 6[/link][/b]
But the leak of the letter { from the FBI saying two of the GOPs witnesses had their security clearances revoked due to improper actions related to Jan. 6} only seemed to harden Republicans resolve, who painted it as an attempt to further retaliate against the witnesses for agreeing to testify publicly before the Judiciary subcommittee.
…
The GOP conducted some of its investigation without Democratic involvement, which emerged as a point of contention throughout Thursdays hearing. The GOP report noted that Allen requested to speak only to committee Republicans. Allen argued during Thursdays hearing that he was worried Democrats would leak parts of his transcript.
Its hardly the first time Republicans have faced skepticism about who they are speaking to as part of their investigations.
Democrats had previously accused another witness, Garret OBoyle, of not detailing why he had been suspended from the FBI and not sharing equal information with both Republicans and Democrats on the committee. OBoyle confirmed during Thursdays hearing that his suspension was still being adjudicated.[/QUOTE]

[h1]Republican House Goes All-In on FBI Gamble[/h1] House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY) is moving to hold FBI director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress, escalating a fight over Biden bribery allegations that Republicans acknowledge have not been verified, [link=https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/redirect-to/?redirect=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.axios.com%2F2023%2F06%2F01%2Ffbi-biden-corruption-allegations-comer-oversight]Axios[/link] reports.
The document Comer is seeking is called an FD-1023, which is used to memorialize interviews with sources and does not inherently indicate wrongdoing.

_____________
Despite the FBIs accommodation, Comer plans to move with forward with the contempt process, arguing it is not enough to satisfy the terms of his subpoena.
Chairman Comer has been clear that anything short of producing the FD-1023 form to the House Oversight Committee is not compliance with his subpoena. This unclassified record contains pages of details that need to be investigated further by the House Oversight Committee, Comer spokesperson Jessica Collins said.

[b]House GOP Drops Plan to Hold FBI Director in Contempt[/b][/h1]
The Republican-led House Oversight Committee on Wednesday dropped its plans to advance a measure holding FBI Director Christopher Wray in contempt of Congress, [link=https://www.axios.com/2023/06/08/james-comer-christopher-wray-fbi-contempt]Axios[/link] reports. -

During the hearing and a previous interview with the House Judiciary Committee, OBoyle said the FBI suspended his security clearance for making unauthorized disclosures to the media, allegations he repeatedly denied.
However, Rep. [link=https://thehill.com/people/jerry-nadler/]Jerry Nadler [/link](D-N.Y.) and Del. [link=https://thehill.com/people/stacey-plaskett/]Stacey Plaskett [/link](D-Virgin Islands) said in Thursdays letter that OBoyles testimony was contradicted by that of Jennifer Moore, the head of the FBIs Human Resources Branch, who signed the letter notifying OBoyle of the suspension.
…Nadler and Plaskett alleged on Thursday that the September notification letter and Moores testimony directly contradicts OBoyles explanation for being suspended, as well as his denials that he leaked information before his suspension.
In fact, the testimony provided by EAD Moore makes clear that Mr. OBoyle was automatically referred to the Security Division after the FBIs Insider Threat Office determined that he had unlawfully removed sensitive information from an FBI computer, they said.[/QUOTE]

The resolution charges Biden with abuse of power and dereliction of duty over his handling of the U.S.-Mexico border. Some centrist and swing-district Republicans have balked at the idea of impeaching Biden’s cabinet secretaries, let alone Biden himself, without clear evidence of wrongdoing.

[h1]House GOP Expects Floor Fight Over Defense Spending[/h1]
Republicans expect a spicy fight over renewing defense spending to play out directly on the House floor, rather than getting buried in the drone of committee hearings, [link=https://www.axios.com/2023/06/25/republicans-defense-spending-ndaa-matt-gaetz]Axios[/link] reports.
The bill made it out of the House Armed Services markup with relatively little tension during proceedings, but Republicans on the panel saved some of the most controversial amendments for the floor vote.I’d like to see every member of Congress vote on some of those questions, not just the members of the Armed Services Committee,” said Rep. [link=https://www.axios.com/2023/06/13/house-republicans-conference-gaetz-mccarthy]Matt Gaetz[/link] (R-Fla.). Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) had an abortion-related amendment teed up for committee that is now being held for the full House to vote on, telling Axios in a statement that “the radical lefts pro-abortion agenda has no place in our military.”

Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, Matthew G. Olsen, the Assistant Attorney General for National Security, and Christie M. Curtis, the Acting Assistant Director in Charge of the New York Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), announced today the unsealing of an eight-count Indictment charging GAL LUFT with offenses related to willfully failing to register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), arms trafficking, Iranian sanctions violations, and making false statements to federal agents. LUFT, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, was arrested on February 17, 2023, in the Republic of Cyprus based on the charges in the Indictment. LUFT subsequently fled after being released on bail while extradition proceedings were pending and remains a fugitive.
[blockquote] U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said: As alleged, Gal Luft, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen and co-head of a Maryland think tank, engaged in multiple, serious criminal schemes. He subverted foreign agent registration laws in the United States to seek to promote Chinese policies by acting through a former high-ranking U.S. Government official; he acted as a broker in deals for dangerous weapons and Iranian oil; and he told multiple lies about his crimes to law enforcement. As the charges unsealed today reflect, our Office will continue to work vigorously with our law enforcement partners to detect and hold accountable those who surreptitiously attempt to perpetrate malign foreign influence campaigns here in the United States.
[/blockquote] FBI Acting Assistant Director in Charge Christie M. Curtis said: As alleged, the defendant engaged in multiple schemes to evade sanctions and laws intended to protect our national security. The FBI is determined to defend our nation by enforcing laws designed to promote transparency of foreign influence within the United States.[/QUOTE]
