After originally threatening not to participate in the debates, the Trump team now wants 4 debates with Biden.
Trump originally demanded the non-partisan debate commission to revamp its board and moderator choices to include more conservatives.
Now he want more debates and earlier, starting in July/August instead of the normal September start.

Anecdotally I have family members who flatly admit Joe is no longer with it upstairs, and have no idea what his policy plans are, but doesn’t matter “I figure I am voting for the VP anyway.”-
He has laid out some things like how he would handle Covid for example. But yeah, his policy plan I can beat Trump. That’s perfectly fine with me.
Trump is going to offer nothing of substance on the debate stage. Like what happens if he has to explain his don’t test so many theory. There would be less cases, right? Guys an idiot. No substance but loaded with BS.-
In all fairness, I think Trump was reacting to the media reports of cases rising recently. Part of that is indeed related to more testing.
The media plays gotcha games with him all the time. never forgive him for gaffes.

Lest’s be honest… When Joe’s got all cylinders firings, he’s spot on with the presenting side. The issue is… is it truthful. Just like the left making the same statement on Trump. The issue becomes, who’s firing all cylinders all the time. Joe sputters, back fires and blows smoke and timing is off. Word for Word, demeanor to demeanor, Joe ain’t got a chance unless he has a really good night and Trump has a very bad night. The question will be… Will all the interviewers be Left leaning in the Debate. Will Fox be allowed to present? If Fox can’t then CNN / NBC / NPR should not. How about a CSpan televised with only Newspaper interviewers? NYT WAPO / WSJ Washington Times.

Trump team wants 4 debates. Biden team has agreed to three.
What the CPD decides to do is as yet unclear. Parscale has floated having debates *outside* of Commission authority, but Biden would never go for it.
So there’s still a lot of negotiating yet to be done. Biden has said he will accept the commission format, dates, and moderators.

Dergon, I will make the usual $10 bet with you….wherever a debate is scheduled, in the two week period leading up to that debate there will be an increase in stories about a surge of COVID cases in the area.
As a side bet, I will put an additional $10 that we can find contemporaneous data from the same city/county/state that shows that cases are dropping in the area.
For instance, if the headline is “COVID cases surge in Ann Arbor prior to rally” then I can find information from the same day that cases in Michigan or the surrounding county are dropping. Alternatively, if the headline is “COVID cases surge in Michigan prior to rally”, then I can find data from the same day showing that cases in Ann Arbor are declining.
The point is, whatever city/county/state counts are going up, that will be cherry picked to say that cases are surging prior to the debate.

Front-runner has the leverage. I still think Biden should push for live fact-checking.
And as long as the polling is where it is he has no reason to accept any additional debates before the end of September.

As for Covid precautions…. it will be interesting to see how that plays. I am doubtful there will be a live audience at least here in Cleveland. It could be done safely maskless if the candidates and moderators are kept physically distant the whole time … but then I’m not sure that sends a great public health message, so I could see that becoming a sticking point.

Ok, so Trump exaggerated results at the time based on info from other physicians and their findings, Wow, he was mostly wrong about the use of the drug. Did he prescribe it himself? No… a Physician did. It appears, other parts of the world are using it. How come there are no white papers being able to been seen on the topic within Google / Yahoo or Bing regarding the usage of it? It’s just like the Dems to only have one solution to fit all so we all feel obligated to them for saving our lives. Which really, in turn… they kill so many due to poverty and selfishness.

So here are my three sample headlines from the Non-Fox/ Non-MSNBC media tomorrow and what they mean for the race –
“Biden Stumbles in high stakes debate” — Trump win, potential to move the polls
“Trump, Biden exchange jabs in fiery debate” – Draw. Might have been a spectacle but that doesn’t matter (and that amounts to Biden *win* since the dynamic is unchanged)
“Biden lays out his vision as Trump attacks” – Biden win… potential to shift the race further in his favor.
Pretty much anything other than Biden “gaffes” leaves it as a net win for the Biden/Harris campaign.

I do think Trump is being overconfident. As previous people have said on here (maybe even you as well), all Biden has to do is not fall down/drool on himself and he will get the admiration of the media. Look at how he can talk and move his hands at the same time! And Trump set that up. The bar is extremely low for Biden. That’s why weeks ago I had asked if any of you would even hire Biden to work a cash register at McDonald’s.
It’s a broader question on how competent a President should be at everyday tasks, normal intellectual thought, etc.

Dementia waxes and wanes. He has early dementia so it will only show up if he gets confused or frustrated – which may not happen in the debate. It makes it harder for him to do a Chris Wallace-style interview though which is why he hasn’t done so.-

Good for the Democratic voters and the RINOs who claim they will pull the lever for Biden over Trump but since when did Trump supporters care about facts when they have alternate facts.

The Commission on Presidential Debates on Wednesday [link=https://www.debates.org/2020/09/02/cpd-announces-2020-debate-moderators/]announced[/link] the four moderators for this years presidential and vice-presidential debates.
Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace will moderate the first debate, which is scheduled for Sept. 29 at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
USA Today Washington bureau chief Susan Page will moderate the vice-presidential debate, which will take place at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City on Oct. 7.
The second presidential debate, which will take the form of a town hall meeting, will be moderated by CSPAN senior executive producer and political editor Steve Scully. The debate is scheduled for Oct. 15 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami.The third and final presidential debate will be moderated by NBC News White House correspondent and Weekend Today co-anchor Kristen Welker. It is scheduled for Oct. 22 at Belmont University in Nashville.

Theory #1 – Dems will falsely claim that Biden tested positive for Covid between now and Tuesday. Theory #2 – Dems are going to remove Biden from the ticket tomorrow and replace him with Harris (and then, of course, some other posters of course suggest it would actually be Hillary or Nancy Pelosi or AOC)

Just because I’m tired of it, can we stop blaming Trump for covid? He made some mistakes but he’s one guy that had a ready-set apparatus he didn’t make that failed him. Those deaths are mostly on the heads of the Dems in NY and NJ also. If you want to say Oh yeah Trump should have done more and it shouldn’t have been up to the states then ask yourself if Trump would have tried to do ANYTHING in March, those same Govs would have disagreed and not done it.
