  • Right leaning rads What are your thoughts on Q anon?

Posted by JAMELLESEABURY_446 on April 17, 2019 at 9:47 am

I’ve read briefly about the Q anon after seeing a bunch of shirts and signs during news coverage of a trump rally. I’m curious what the republicans among us think about it.

What’s your understanding of it (?) so that one of us may respond to where you are coming from

(should I respond if I’m not a Republican?)

Well, QAnon is intrinsically republican so I would prefer to hear from republicans about it. It’s an online forum though so really anyone could jump in.

I’ll catch my mom listening to this BS on youtube.  Some people are susceptible to this conspiracy non-sense.  Like Trump’s playing 12 dimensional chess and he’s really here to cleanse out the government.  Mass arrests in the waiting.  I think the mass arrest day was already supposed to have happened.  It’s fantastically garbage.

Flee, I have no opinion regarding you as a poster yet but you must understand that there are very few posters here on this section of the board that are reasonable; most are feelings related left leaners that make little sense or are completely dishonest. That’s why it’s hard to have discussions for the sincere, which you may be.

[h1]QAnon followers melt down after K-Pop fans take over their hashtags[/h1] [b]This is a truly bizarre case study in platform manipulation[/b]

Online trolls and far-right conspiracy theorists learned a valuable lesson this week: Do not upset Korean pop music superfans.

On Sunday, K-pop [link=https://theoutline.com/post/2425/when-stan-became-a-verb?zd=1&zi=rsr2oi2d]stan[/link] Twitter rallied in support of the Black Lives Matter movement by spamming [link=https://twitter.com/DallasPD/status/1266969685532332032]a request[/link] from the Dallas Police Department for video of illegal activity from the protests with videos known as [link=https://mashable.com/article/kpop-twitter-fancam-reply-trend/]fancams[/link], or short clips of K-pop performers. The Dallas PD [link=https://consequenceofsound.net/2020/05/k-pop-stans-crash-dallas-police-departments-iwatch-app-with-fancam-videos/]shut down its iWatch Dallas app[/link] soon after.

Following the success of #BlackLivesMatter and #BlackoutTuesday hashtags on Twitter, [link=https://www.cnet.com/news/k-pop-stans-take-over-racist-hashtags-on-twitter-bts/]4chan users[/link] set out to get their own hashtags — #WhiteLivesMatter and #WhiteoutWednesday — trending on Twitter the following morning to spread white supremacist propaganda and cause confusion about protests over the police killing of George Floyd. While those hashtags did trend, people who clicked on them were more likely to end up with a screen full of [link=https://twitter.com/magnifique_luna/status/1268169601998901248]K-pop videos[/link] than racist tweets about [link=https://twitter.com/FaithGoldy/status/1268234457376587776]replacement migration.[/link]

For some reason, K-Pop fans decided to [link=https://www.newsweek.com/k-pop-qanon-anonymous-twitter-hashtags-protest-gobaldforblm-opfancam-black-lives-matter-1508909]start tweeting[/link] popular QAnon hashtags like #QAnon and #WWG1WGA, shorthand for the conspiracy theorys slogan Where we go one, we go all. Understandably, this was more than a little frustrating for the Q-obsessed conspiracy theorists. Hilariously, this resulted in even more conspiracy theories involving George Soros and antifa to explain the surge in K-pop tweets including the QAnon hashtags.

Between the 4channers, the K-pop stans, and the QAnon supporters, this is a case study in coordinated social media platform manipulation. Earlier in the week, a Twitter account claiming to belong to [link=https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/twitter-takes-down-washington-protest-disinformation-bot-behavior-n1221456]a national antifa organization[/link] was outed as being actually run by a white supremacist group, and a coordinated plan to sow chaos by falsely claiming the existence of a [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/06/01/misinformation-about-extent-unrest-washington-dc-surges-across-twitter/]social media blackout[/link] in Washington, D.C., was uncovered.

Its important that all of us — especially those working in the media — understand how easy it is to manipulate social media for political gains. And while manipulation isnt always necessarily used for evil — few people will shed tears over conspiracy theorists being temporarily frustrated online — you can’t believe everything you see trending on Twitter.

Is that like ‘Narcotics Anonymous’ for conspiracy theorists ?

I don’t want to google it as most of the returns are going to be manipulated one way or the other.

[link=https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/27/technology/pizzagate-justin-bieber-qanon-tiktok.html]PizzaGate Conspiracy Theory Thrives Anew through QAnon in the TikTok Era[/link]

Four minutes into a video that was posted on Instagram last month, Justin Bieber leaned into the camera and adjusted the front of his black knit beanie. For some of his 130 million followers, it was a signal.

In the video, someone had posted a comment asking Mr. Bieber to touch his hat if he had been a victim of a child-trafficking ring known [link=https://www.nytimes.com/search?query=Pizzagate]as PizzaGate[/link]. Thousands of comments were flooding in, and there was no evidence that Mr. Bieber had seen that message. But the pop stars innocuous gesture set off a flurry of online activity, which highlighted the resurgence of one of social medias early conspiracy theories.

Four years ago, ahead of the 2016 presidential election, the baseless notion that Hillary Clinton and Democratic elites were running a child sex-trafficking ring out of a Washington pizzeria [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/21/technology/fact-check-this-pizzeria-is-not-a-child-trafficking-site.html?searchResultPosition=11]spread across the internet[/link], illustrating how a crackpot idea with no truth to it could blossom on social media and how dangerous it could be. In December 2016, a [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/05/business/media/comet-ping-pong-pizza-shooting-fake-news-consequences.html?searchResultPosition=12]vigilante gunman showed up[/link] at the restaurant with an assault rifle and opened fire into a closet.
In the years afterward, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube managed to largely suppress PizzaGate. But now, just months before the next presidential election, the conspiracy theory is making a comeback on these platforms and on [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/03/technology/tiktok-is-the-future.html]new ones such as TikTok[/link] underlining the limits of their efforts to stamp out dangerous speech online and how little has changed despite rising public frustration.

PizzaGate never went away because it encompasses very potent forces, including childrens safety and the power of elites, said Alice Marwick, a disinformation expert at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. But now there is so much scaffolding from people who have researched it, it wasnt hard for others to pick up from there.

PizzaGate is reaching a level that nearly exceeds its 2016 fever pitch, according to an analysis by The New York Times. TikTok posts with the #PizzaGate hashtag have been viewed more than 82 million times in recent months. Google searches for PizzaGate have skyrocketed.

[link=https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/505745-qanon-scores-wins-creating-gop-problem]QAnon scores wins, creating GOP problem[/link]

Gun rights activist [link=https://thehill.com/person/lauren-boebert]Lauren Boebert[/link]s upset win over [link=https://thehill.com/people/scott-tipton]Scott Tipton[/link] (R) in Colorado this week is the latest in a string of victories for candidates who have publicly expressed support for the QAnon conspiracy theory.
At least eight such candidates for the House will appear on general election ballots this fall, while another two are headed for runoffs. While the majority of them are running long shot campaigns in uncompetitive districts, at least two are currently favored to win, including Boebert.

Boebert, who is best known for her ownership of a grill that lets its staff openly carry firearms, expressed support for the theory while in an appearance on a right-wing internet show called “Steel Truth” in May.
“I am familiar with that,” she said when asked her thoughts on Q. “Everything I’ve heard of Q I hope this is real. Because it only means America is getting stronger and better and people are returning to conservative values.”
In an email to The Hill Wednesday, Boebert walked back that support, saying, I dont follow QAnon while also saying, Im glad the IG and the AG are investigating deep state activities that undermine the President.
Meanwhile, Perkins has walked back her support less decisively. Upon winning the Oregon Republican primary, her campaign issued a statement distancing her from QAnon. Perkins then appeared on ABC News to reiterate her support, and recently [link=https://twitter.com/PerkinsForUSSen/status/1276778441082167296?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1276778441082167296%7Ctwgr%5E393535353b636f6e74726f6c&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.newsweek.com%2Foregon-gop-senate-candidate-recites-qanon-oath-office-video-1513896]posted a video[/link] of herself reciting an oath of the digital soldier, something which Q recently asked followers to do.
Perkins told The Hill in an email that she reads Q drops  the cryptic messages that Q posts  “when I have time,” but said they “are not a theory” and that “Q drops is just one of the various sources of information I refer to.”

if QAnon backing candidates continue to win Republican races, that silence {from the Republican establishment} may no longer be tenable…
The sheer volume of political figures within the party that are embracing the QAnon conspiracy to me signifies that this is going to be a strain of their party that they’re going to have to deal with for a while. Theres a pretty big collision point down the road.[/QUOTE]

I dont believe any of the Q stuff that Ive heard but Im not an expert on what Q posts.

On the other hand, my general opinion has always been that the public knows very little of what goes on behind the scenes in our government. Its akin to a lay person thinking they know what goes on in the OR during open heart surgery.

There are nutbags and nutty theories on both the far Left and far Right.  The difference is that one group gets media airtime and orgasmic delight from pundits while the other is branded Nazi, White Supremacist, etc.

I really do not. I thought for a while trying to figure out the left equivalent.  I am not game playing. It is a legitimate question that I am asking because I can not come up with one to justify a “both sides” when it comes to Q.

                      Perhaps that’s your problem.

Do you want conspiracy theory Left wing?  Violent Left wing?  Radical Left wing?

Q anon appears to just peddle in one conspiracy theory (deep state out to get Trump), but admittedly I don’t know a lot about their group.  They do not appear to be violent or necessarily harmful/destructive.

Black Lives Matter (original group) – violent, Marxist, destructive; their leaders still say as much and the “new” movement looks much different than the original before you get your panties all in a bunch
Anti-vaxxers, Anti-GMO, Homeopath types – conspiracy theories about the government out to get us through vaccines, medicines, genetics, etc.
Antifa – violent, fascist (despite the name being the opposite), out for destructive intent

                      Do you want more?

Right wing has of course white supremacists, neo-Nazis, etc.

Yeah. Anti-vax used to be primarily of the crunchy, organic left.  It is now well-incorporated  into the anti-government, anti-science Right as well.

BLM is a left wing political organization.   It pushes far left liberal policy. It’s rough equivalent on the Right would be the evangelical movement.

Antifa is a very minor organization in the US, but could be seen as similar to the white supremecists Noe-Nazis.

Qanon is a collection of conspiracy theories is my very limited understanding. It is not a political organization like BLM. The vast majority of Republicans don’t even know what it is, far more Democrats know of it than Republicans, indeed I have Dergon to thank for bringing this to my attention. Which would make sense as consumers of MSNBC and New York Times seems to be the primary consumers of Qanon theories.

I’ve heard my mom listening to the Q dumps or whatever. Unfortunately my mom’s totally brain washed on this BS.  It’ll be like Q said the number 4 and 4 is the 4th letter of the alphabet for D.  And we all know D is for Don Trump, and he executed John McCain.  or you just wait and see how many people are mass arrested for pizzagate.

It’s like a load of BS, and then when the BS doesn’t come true, the BS piles up even higher.

Fox News Jesse Watters: QAnon Has Uncovered a Lot of Great Stuff[/h1]
Fox News host Jesse Watters says a pro-Trump, right-wing conspiracy theory movement that was [link=https://www.thedailybeast.com/qanon-says-fbi-labeling-them-a-terror-threat-just-proves-theres-a-deep-state-conspiracy-against-them]deemed a terror threat by the FBI[/link] has actually uncovered a lot of great stuff.

Speaking with Eric Trump late Saturday about [link=https://www.thedailybeast.com/qanon-is-just-getting-started-despite-twitters-crackdown]Twitters recent crackdown on QAnon[/link]the fringe movement blamed for playing a role in at least two murders, two [link=https://www.thedailybeast.com/qanon-mom-charged-with-kidnapping-her-kids]child abductions[/link], and a string of other violent incidentsWatters wondered aloud if perhaps the social media giant was attempting to interfere in an election by banning QAnon believers who claim Democrats, Trump critics, and many influential figures are Satanic child sex traffickers and cannibals.

Q can do some crazy stuff, with the pizza stuff, and the Wayfair stuff, but theyve also uncovered a lot of great stuff when it comes to Epstein and it comes to the deep state. I never saw Q as as dangerous as antifa, he said.

[h1]QAnon groups have millions of members on Facebook, documents show[/h1] [b]The preliminary results of an investigation by Facebook shed new light on the scope of activity and content from the QAnon community on the platform.

      [/b]

An internal investigation by Facebook has uncovered thousands of groups and pages, with millions of members and followers, that support the QAnon conspiracy theory, according to internal company documents reviewed by NBC News.

The investigations preliminary results, which were provided to NBC News by a Facebook employee, shed new light on the scope of activity and content from the QAnon community on Facebook, a scale previously undisclosed by Facebook and unreported by the news media, because most of the groups are private.

The top 10 groups identified in the investigation collectively contain more than 1 million members, with totals from more top groups and pages pushing the number of members and followers past 3 million. It is not clear how much overlap there is among the groups.

The investigation will likely inform what, if any, action Facebook decides to take against its QAnon community, according to the documents and two current Facebook employees who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter. The company is considering an option similar to its handling of anti-vaccination content, which is to reject advertising and exclude QAnon groups and pages from search results and recommendations, an action that would reduce the communitys visibility.

Conspiracy theorists won a major victory on Tuesday as Marjorie Taylor Greene (R), a supporter of the convoluted pro-Trump movement QAnon, triumphed in her House primary runoff election in Georgia, all but ensuring that she will represent a deep-red district in Congress, the [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/11/us/politics/marjorie-taylor-greene-qanon-georgia-primary.html?searchResultPosition=1]New York Times[/link] reports.

More than a dozen candidates who have expressed some degree of support for QAnon are running for Congress as Republicans, their path cleared by President Trumps own espousal of conspiracy theories.

          [b]Facebook Removes 790 QAnon Groups[/b][/h1]

Facebook said on Wednesday that it had removed 790 QAnon groups from its site and was restricting another 1,950 groups, 440 pages and more than 10,000 Instagram accounts related to the right-wing conspiracy theory, in the social networks most sweeping action against the fast-growing movement, the [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/19/technology/facebook-qanon-groups-takedown.html]New York Times[/link] reports.

Facebooks takedown followed record growth of QAnon groups on the site, much of it since the coronavirus pandemic began in March.

We have seen growing movements that, while not directly organizing violence, have celebrated violent acts, shown that they have weapons and suggest they will use them, or have individual followers with patterns of violent behavior.”

acebook said it had taken down the QAnon groups as part of a new policy to clamp down on movements that discuss potential violence. Under that policy, Facebook said, it will also remove 980 groups such as those related to the far-left antifa movement, as well as others related to militia movements or other protests.

The new policy also bars the groups from buying ads on the platform. QAnon has sold merchandise on Facebook including hats, T-shirts and banners, partly through Facebook ads.

    [link=https://www.politico.com/news/2020/08/12/mccarthy-qanon-questions-394439]McCarthy faces QAnon squeeze[/link]
    Politico

The rise of Greene an unapologetic QAnon conspiracy theorist who has made disparaging remarks about Jews, Blacks, and Muslims is threatening to hurt the entire party as Republicans seek to stanch their bleeding in suburbia and expand their base of support amid a national reckoning over racial inequality. Greene won a GOP primary runoff[b] [/b]in a deep red northwest Georgia seat, all but guaranteeing her a spot in Congress next year.

Now Republicans up and down the ballot will have to answer for Greenes controversial remarks. And shes showing no signs of softening her rhetoric. During her primary victory party, Greene ripped into spineless Republicans, called Speaker Nancy Pelosi a bitch and kicked reporters out of the event. Greene then celebrated their ouster on Twitter.

By Wednesday, Greene was already in a [link=https://twitter.com/mtgreenee/status/1293639730970730496?s=20]Twitter war[/link] with a sitting House Republican who said[b] [/b]there is no place in Congress for these conspiracies. A Trump campaign spokesman then [link=https://twitter.com/MattWolking/status/1293598066247962627?s=20]jumped[/link] to Greene’s defense.

Greene’s actions offered a preview of the type of headache-inducing behavior that Republicans fear will come to define her and perhaps the broader GOP especially after President Donald Trump on Wednesday called Greene a future Republican Star.

If shes the future of the Republican party, were in trouble, complained freshman Rep. Denver Riggleman (R-Va.), who was ousted in a June primary[b] [/b]by a far-right candidate after officiating a gay wedding. QAnon is the mental gonorrhea of conspiracy theories. Its disgusting and you want to get rid of it as fast as possible.

GOP QAnon House candidate Marjorie Taylor Greene is also a 9/11 conspiracy theorist. In previously unreported remarks, Greene claimed that “it’s odd there’s never any evidence shown for a plane in the Pentagon.”

Here’s some fabricated photos from the FBI purportedly of the damage to the Pentagon. Like the Moon landing, fabricated.

Karl Rove was on Fox and he called Trump’s refusal to disavow QAnon a big mistake.

This is a group of nuts and kooks and he ought to disavow them, They may like him, but they like him because they think he is fighting an incredible war against forces of pedographic evil and its just ridiculous. Disavow them, get done with it.

Can someone explain to me why exactly Republicans have to go on the record and disavow Qanon for “possible violence” when Democrats not only don’t disavow, but actively support, all facets of BLM when BLM supporters are currently, literally causing violence in many cities?

            Q-Anon

A group founded on some weird stuff
Q-Anon is a far-right conspiracy theory detailing a supposed secret plot by an alleged “deep state” against President Donald Trump and his supporters. They believe the deep state is a group of pedophiles and cannibals who follow Hillary Clinton and are set on world domination

Black Lives Matter is a social justice movement

Q-Anon is a collection of conspiracy theorists who are detached from reality.

It is an apples to oranges comparison.

(And the political reason that Dems dont have to disavow is because BLM has 67% ish popular support)

Okay okay, so overt violence and rioting is fine as long as its a social justice movement?

Look, I don’t know anything about QAnon or support them in any way.  But you said they were banned for talking about violence.  If there is more to it then I’m happy to continue to say I don’t support them.

I don’t think 67% approve of BLM.  I think 67% are guilt-shamed into not trying to seem racist and that was the vehicle of the time the poll was taken.

At least you took a knee for rioting and destruction of the system.  I hope no one comes to your house to get their reparations.

White House Chief of staff Mark Meadows was interviewed by Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday:

WALLACE: You can end this controversy right now. Does the president disavow, does he condemn QAnon?

MEADOWS: Well, listen, we we dont even know what it is.
