  • Desk for home reading station

Posted by didoisheer_164 on December 23, 2020 at 10:27 am

I’m in the market for a home reading desk.
I’d like it to be adjustable height. I prefer a wood-look.
It needs to be able to handle at least 2 monitors. I want the desk to be stable on a carpet surface.
I prefer the desk to have wire management tools

I’m debating between Jarvis Bamboo desk VS Uplift desk. I think 48 inches by 24 inches should suffice.

    Thoughts? Or any other recommendations.

    Been looking at them too.
    Uplift appeals to me.
48 inch would be tight for 3 monitors; curious what others think.

Amazon now carries adjustable desks,  very reasonable.
I bought a Biomorph desk 10-12 years ago,  I love it.  But recently wanted another and got one from Amazon at 1/10th the price of the Biomorph.

I have had a 66″ Steelcase- was a Walkstation with treadmill that works very well.

UpLift has great reviews, but I recently opted for a 72″ Evodesk, which I really like.  It is incredibly well made, if not a bit heavy, but most of their surfaces are not wood.
You won’t be satisfied with 48 inches for 3 monitors.  Even 60″ is cutting it really close.

I have a powered, adjustable height 72″ Lifespan.

It can sit 4 monitors plus a laptop easily with room to spare for some other detritus.

I can walk on the treadmill while reading or, I have a chair that sits comfortable on the tread track when I don’t want to walk.

It’s been great.  Did 3.2 miles yesterday while reading plain films.

Agree with this.  As long as you measure your space to see what size desk would fit, personally I would want to err on the too large size rather than getting one that’s too small.  If it’s too big, it should be easy to find stuff to put on the extra real estate.  Eg. plants, place to put your to-do paperwork, food and beverages, etc.

No problems/issues with my Jarvis using 2 monitors.  Easily hides wires/cords.  Not familiar with Uplift but I would imagine its more or less the same

Thanks for all the advice. You convinced me to go with the 60 inch desk. I went with bamboo Uplift desk, since they had the ergonomic contour curve which I wanted. Jarvis also offers the same contour, but there is a long backorder. Autonomous only had square desk top.

Uplift threw in a lot of freebies (wire management kits, power station, etc), and they had no month long backorder, like Jarvis.

My whole setup came out to $1100 and included a really nice adjustable chair.
