Gay marriage should NOT be a federal issue.

Truth be told…I bet the instant that the supreme court says that there is a constitutional right to gay marriage, is the moment that a amendment banning gay marriage becomes viable.

Well, there would certainly be a proposal for such a constitutional amendment.  Congress might even actually waste its time debating and voting on such an amendment, largely because congressmen want to be re-elected.  But would the amendment pass with the required 2/3 majority?  I don’t think so.  Possible?  Yes.  Likely?  No.

If such an amendment does pass following due process, I can’t complain.  In that case, they won it fair and square.  I think it would be a stupid amendment, but until I get around to forming my own dictatorship over the United States I will have to abide by the laws this democracy comes up with.  I guess I would just have to drive over to Canada to marry my boyfriend, sister and sheep.
