    HOR, this is the problem.

    You have to choose…either marriage is under the government purview, in which case the voters in California, based on their constitution, have a right to voice their opinion…or you just decide that marriage should not be under the government’s purview.

    I prefer the latter.

    No matter how much people would like it to be, rights to gay marriage are not protected under the constitution…therefore, the states have the right to regulate it as they see fit.  the Defense of Marriage Act signed by Clinton reaffirms the state rights.
