    I’ve never understood the commotion and think this is mostly a semantic debate revved up on emotional steroids.  If your union is performed in a church-let’s call it marriage and let the church decide if they want to allow gay “marriage”.  At that level it is religious issue.
     
    If it is done by the state call it a civil union and make it a legal union.  After that gay couples that have a legal union should have the same rights, responsibilities, headaches, divorce proceedings etc. as any other legal union.
     
    Aren’t we supposed to separate church and state anyway?
