Sounds fun!
I am not retired or FI. I just got back from 7 day Alaska Field Survival course, in a dense forest along the Kings River about an hour east of Anchorage. No mobile phone or electronics, no food, no water, no tent, no sleeping bag allowed. Just the clothes on your back, a knife, and an empty metal canteen allowed. Built our shelters, made friction fire from scratch to keep us warm and boil river water, attacked by wasps, had a bear come by – scared away with gunshots from our instructor. Sprinkled most days, rain steadily for two days. River crossings, tried spear fishing. In 7 days, had only a single meal from a fish caught by someone else, and a handful of berries, I lost over 10 pounds that was mostly water weight. Came away with a renewed sense of gratitude for all the things we take for granted in civilization, a greater sense of independence and comfort in the wilderness, greater sense of self-reliance, and an idea of the things I need to change in my life to be a better, more humble, and stronger man.
Can you link that course, i want to do that
