    People seem to distrust groups, partners, lawyers, insurers, hospitals, etc.
     
    I don’t blame people for being suspicious or cranky based on experiences we all have had, but in terms of this thread, I don’t see a downside for a lawyer to be engaged to protect the individual.  If it costs a few dollars, that’s life.  Even if it is never recouped, it is worth peace of mind to make the contract protect the employee.  My first job had language that was 25 years old that didn’t even apply at that time.  Thanks to the lawyer, the contract was revised which freed me of fees and restrictions that everyone else accepted.  (Ended up changing the provision for everyone too)
