  • powerscribe help

is there a way to assign certain phrases to a key? rather than say “macro cysts” (which then spits out too small to characterize renal hypodensities), i could just press a button on the keyboard to do the same thing

I say certain phrases over and over again. saying macro this or macro that doesnt really save that much time for me since powerscribe doesnt recognize it only half the time

Would really help for grinding out degenerative spine cases.

Another issue is even if i manage to get this to work, how can i type something in powerscribe when it’s not the active window?

Can probably be done with AutoHotKey

You need to build templates that utilize pick list choices so that you just speak the title of the pick list choice to call it in and don’t have to preface it with “macro…”

This is how you can fly through a degen spine case using your own search pattern. Just free speak when you dont have a pick list choice that fits. Or better yet, continue to add to your pick list choices until you rarely have to free dictate.

Depending on how organized your IT dept is, you can use the exam codes of the study to auto launch your templates (down to gender and age) so that you never even have to call your specific template up – the correct one just launches with the study.

I use AHK scripts for hands free dictating and I’m telling you that keyboard shortcuts only work well when you don’t have to look down at the keyboard or accessory device to find them.

Also have the template talk to you through mic so you know what field you are in. Dont have to look away from images to proofread until end.

And utilize the custom font colors so that your free dictated text is a different color than the rest of your template. This helps to quickly skim your own report for the important stuff when you’re assembling your impression.

iT doesnt allow autohotkey since its a security risk

Idk i feel like the time it takes to say pick 1 pick 2 or pick 3 is still slower than pressing a key

You don’t have to say ‘pick’. Just say whatever shorthand you assigned for that entry. You get a ‘ding’ from PS and it fills in the text.
