Agree 100%. This is god-awful. Irritating just to look at.
-
Was anybody asking for a redesign? Why did they even do it?

Default white background for people who often work in a dark room is a terrible choice.

yes please, the old format. Access without login, one click and it starts. No searching.
-
yeah whoever made this decision was not in PACS IT or radiology
-
Ya. This update is absolutely terrible. Looks like a reddit page designed for phone, but trying to be displayed on a computer. Loved the forums before, but not sure my eyes can take this update much longer.
-
Auntminnie was in need of a forums update, but I agree this is pretty bad. Format, spacing, colors, all are off. It’s one of the worst “new” forums I’ve been on. I suspect they bought some kind of “budget” software.
Not a big deal, but one thing I thought they might add, and be interesting is upvotes/downvotes or like/dislike.. or something like that with reaction emojis.
Is it also incredibly, frustratingly slow for anyone else?
-
Its like when you buy the cheaper flooring option. Well, now you’re stuck with it for several years and always reminded of your poor choice. Unless your wife complains loud enough and for long enough to make you throw up your hands and just pay the 15k for the floor you both wanted. True story.
-
It’s also possible that the forums are now an afterthought, and there is a change planned more towards becoming an industry website.
It sure feels like they were just slapped together
-
If someone wanted to end the AM radiology forum, they would likely create an “update” with:
— A difficult to look at background
— Ton of ads
— Poor navigation/user interface
— Slow loading
— Zero feedback to user complaints
It’s actually a pretty impressive job in that context. Checks all the boxes.

This is a sign from a power above that is time to spend much less time on AM.com and do something more productive in life.
I frequented the old forum for probably between 15-20 years now and once in a while it actually provided me with useful info and connections in my career. Alas, all good things eventually get ruined by “upgrades”. Peace out friends!
-
Agree completely. AM likely no longer interested in spending time and money moderating this forum, just a passive aggressive way for it to wither and disappear.
-
Agree. 10X the number of ads. Like someone wanted an extra few cents of ad revenue had to ruin the experience just because

Make Aunt Minne Great Again!
Does anyone have any other alternative radiology sites with active forums? I only know of this site unfortunately.

I frequent that subreddit, too, but it’s mainly rad techs, not radiologists.

Truly, Aunt Minnie, bring back the old FORMAT to your CASE STUDIES. (All caps to clarify I am not talking about these forums).
When I try to do one of your case studies, here are all of the (negative) changes I observe. Honestly there is zero improvement in the new format… so no “plus” features to mention.
- It forced me to log in again (normally recognizes me, can just click link and it opens if you have an acct)
- It forced me to log in with an email address (not my usual user ID, which is a nickname)
- It
made me confirm I wanted to start this case study after that,
specifying it is free (all 3 of these steps were just a link click
before this)
- The interface is now ugly and messed up (text behind images, super slow loading—never happened before)
- The
quiz questions must be engaged as a separate click (start quiz now…
x2 in the case in question, as after the US images we go to fluoroscopy, and make
us start a new quiz again—before continuing to another modality was seamless) - There
is no immediate pay off! Previously as you clicked an answer you got a
green (correct!) or red (oops!) acknowledgment on the spot, often with
pop up explanations of why an answer was the right or wrong one. Now
there is no feedback….
- You only get the score at the end (of each quiz in this case—got results on my US image answers, then did fluoro part, got that result separately—as
a % each time, but with no indication of # of questions type summary,
like before. You don’t even know which you got wrong! You can still go
back and try again, but which was wrong!!?) - You
do get a sort of final tally page, but it is ugly and
uninformative compared to the previous version of this. (How many pages did I visit? Which ones I got right/wrong? etc)
AuntMinnie cases used to be a highlight in my inbox, a fun challenge, easy-peasy jump in~!… just click and proceed. This has turned into time consuming re-login, DELAYED loading, no real educational feedback as I venture my answers, and an un-user-friendly navigation between pages. WHY?????
It was so good before :(((
please go back to your old format!
merci beaucoup! Melanie (photonophile)
