John Oliver had the interesting graph Sunday about how wildly unpopular they both are, Trump and Hillary. It was a pretty good piece because he also shined the light on how wildly stupid Johnson/Stein are. Say what you want about Trump/Clinton but those two are major league dummies. Whose the least evil of the 4 evils?
Hillary, hands down.

How did this happen? I’m familiar with how Trump got there but don’t really get the democratic nomination process, why were there only 3 candidates? Did the DNC already decide that it was going to be HRC? There was no one better?

Basically it happened like this
If you rememember correctly Hillary was widely thought of a few years back as being basically unbeatable………… That was the consensus of most. The only other real option was Joe Biden who was a very viable option and Potential candidate and the only real competition for Hillary at the time………………… He of course was grieving the loss of son and 76 yrs old and took his time to decide not to run. That knocked out most other potential canidates. Bernie and the one Maryland Governor were the only ones who threw their hat in the ring…………… and even Bernie said he was running for second place
I guarantee you now knowing what we know others would have run……….. Specifically Tim Kaine and Elizabeth Warren, Maybe even John Kerry again.
Just goes to show you that 2 years in politics is a very long time. 2 years ago Hillary was thought of as being unbeatable…………….. Today probably the only candidate she could beat would be Trump and maybe Cruz-

Kpack hits it on the head. The Democrats dodged a bullet by the GOP nominating Trump given what has come to light about Hillary in 2016. Any disciplined generic GOP candidate would be winning right now.
Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren are probably kicking themselves for not getting in. Sanders had never been a democrat. There was no way he was going to pull an Obama and get all of those party insiders to flip. But Warren and /or Biden might have.-
Let us see what today brings. Wiki leaks said yesterday they have surprises for Kaine and Donna Brazile coming out today. Also in another dump yesterday they started releasing Obama’s emails from 2008. Interesting one email shows a list of people for consideration divided by race among other things. Yet, In the 2012 campaign the Dems took Romney to task for his list of women.

Years ago. Several elections ago. At least.

You know to me the worst part is that one of them is going to win (likely Hillary). And instead of looking at what a mess this race is/was, the winning party is going to have a feeling of vindication. Everything they did was for the ‘good of the people’ and they will continue on with business as usual.
And for the losing side? The repubs will continue to cry fowl. The election was rigged, Hillary didn’t play fair, there was voter fraud, the media is biased. All of the old complaints that keep sprouting up.
Not one of them will look at this and see that they need to make a fundamental change.-
That remains to be seen, about the Democrats at least. Hillary was pushed to the left by Bernie. I think she will continue to do that should the voters continue to signal their support for her move, especially depending on the results in Congress seats. An article on Biden that Democrats giving up on white voters who are supporting Trump would be a mistake.
[link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/bidens-last-stand-convincing-democrats-not-to-give-up-on-the-white-working-class-voters-fueling-trump/2016/10/21/d4230d4a-7a94-11e6-ac8e-cf8e0dd91dc7_story.html]https://www.washingtonpos…f8e0dd91dc7_story.html[/link]The middle class is not a number, its a value set. Its being able to own your house and not have to rent it; its being able to send your kid to the local park and know theyll come home safely, he said. Its about being able to send your kid to the local high school and if they do well they can get to college, and if they get to college, you can figure out how to [pay to] get them there, and when your mom or dad passes away, you can take care of the other who is in need and hope your kids never have to take care of you. Thats Joe Bidens definition of the middle class, and the middle class has been clobbered.
Biden regularly sums up with this adage from his father: I dont expect the government to solve my problems. I expect them to understand my problems. So Bidens role this fall is to help candidates like Kander reach voters that other Democrats cant break through with, not necessarily to win a majority of the white working class but to at least reduce the margins.
But he also wants Democrats to challenge Republicans for those voters: What are Republicans gonna do for you, white working-class folks? Well, guess what, they aint gonna help your kid get to school, theyre gonna cut it, he said. Theyre not gonna help you pay the mortgage. Theyre not gonna help.

More released today. First, Doug Band to John Podesta on the Clinton Foundation paying for Chelsea’s wedding and other perks. Email #52046
“The investigation into her getting paid for campaigning, using foundation resources for her wedding and life for a decade, taxes on money from her parents…. I hope that you will speak to her and end this Once we go down this road….”
Next – Chelsea had a fictitious email account set up under the name Diane Reynolds. (Washington Post story in 2015 on the travel name Chelsea used) We know Hillary was sending her info. Sends an email from the Diane Reynolds email account then signs it Chelsea. LOL Why set up the fictitious account if she stills signs her real name?

yes, in 2008. This election is a coronation.-
Why no one else? No one else threw their hat in. Ask them what stopped them. Bloomberg? Who else? And there have to be over a dozen candidates? I don’t think so.
As for “coronation,” that was Dubbya in 2000 thanks to Supremes who stopped the process to ensure their Republican candidate won.
Hillary was always the assumed candidate after Obama. Thank God Bernie got in the race to push things to make her a more interesting candidate & pushed her to the left.

Inciting violence at Trump rallies, Onna Brazil’s releasing Town Hall questions to her favorite candidate, corrupted and partisan press, interfering with FBI investigations, quid pro quo arrangements, selling influence, unequal and partisan DOJ application of the law … I’m not sure that you can blame Trump for not trusting the integrity of the system..

Even with his gaffes like “binders of women” he was a reasonable person. Although now that I think of it didn’t he strap his dog to the roof of the family wagon. He still looks like a great alternative to HRC, Trump, Stein, Johnson.

What Comes Next?[/link][/b]A source close to the Ecuadorian Foreign Ministry and the Presidents office, unauthorized to speak publicly, has confirmed to the Intercept that Moreno is close to finalizing, if he has not already finalized, an agreement to hand over Assange to the UK within the next several weeks. The withdrawal of asylum and physical ejection of Assange could come as early as this week. On Friday, RT [link=https://www.rt.com/news/433783-wikileaks-assange-ecuador-uk/]reported[/link] that Ecuador was preparing to enter into such an agreement.
The consequences of such an agreement depend in part on the concessions Ecuador extracts in exchange for withdrawing Assanges asylum. But as former Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa [link=https://theintercept.com/2018/05/16/ecuadors-ex-president-rafael-correa-denounces-treatment-of-julian-assange-as-torture/]told the Intercept[/link] in an interview in May, Morenos government has returned Ecuador to a highly subservient and submissive posture toward western governments.
It is thus highly unlikely that Moreno who has shown himself willing to submit to threats and coercion from the UK, Spain and the U.S. will obtain a guarantee that the U.K. not extradite Assange to the U.S., where top Trump officials have vowed to prosecute Assange and destroy WikiLeaks.[/QUOTE]

Looked like the Russians are still at it by hacking German politicians’ emails & releasing them. And personal information including photos of their children with veiled threats stating, Nice things that you can have fun with.
All except their Right-wing politicians, that is.
Deja vu all over again only in German this time. And elevating the attacks and intimidation by using the children photos with captions.
[link=https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/04/world/europe/germany-hacking-politicians-leak.html]https://www.nytimes.com/2…-politicians-leak.html[/link]
Twitter shut down an account on Friday that an unidentified hacker had been using for weeks to expose the personal details of several hundred German lawmakers in what appeared to be major privacy breach for the German political establishment.
Links to sites hosting the material were posted on Twitter by an account named GOd. The breach appeared to target lawmakers from every major political party but one: the far-right Alternative for Germany, or AfD. Personal information from artists and journalists with leftist political leanings was also published.
Jonas Kaiser, a Harvard University expert who studies online misinformation, said the weaponization of hacked information was becoming increasingly common in politics. The most notable example was [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/23/us/politics/dnc-emails-sanders-clinton.html?module=inline]emails from the Democratic National Committee[/link] during the 2016 election in the United States.
Mr. Böhmermann, the first person targeted in the leak, sought several months ago to organize opposition to the far-right group Reconquista Germanica, which spreads disinformation and harasses, provokes and belittles opponents. The data, which included Mr. Böhmermanns phone numbers, personal chats and photographs of his two young sons, was advertised as, Nice things that you can have fun with.-

The case accuses Assange of conspiring to commit computer intrusion for agreeing to break a password to a classified U.S. government computer when working with former U.S. Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning, formerly known as Bradley Manning, who released hundreds of thousands of diplomatic cables and war logs in 2010.-
Hannity & Trump were Assange’s biggest fans! YUGE fans!

The deputy chief prosecutor, Eva-Marie Persson, said the complainants evidence was deemed credible and reliable, but that after nearly a decade, witnesses memories had faded.
After conducting a comprehensive assessment of what has emerged during the course of the preliminary investigation I then make the assessment that the evidence is not strong enough to form the basis for filing an indictment, Persson said. An appeal against the decision could be made to the office of Swedens attorney general, she added.

Yes.
I lean a bit hard toward villain. I’d give Snow more points towards hero than Assange.-
I heard an interesting interview with a whistleblower lawyer. I lean towards big time villain. So he exposed Iraqi informants and had a flippant response like who cares about them. He also didnt really exercise much journalism or integrity. He was trying to convince people to hack systems for him. He also is in cahoots with our enemies like Russia. Also hes been trying to playing up his whoa be me life. Hes apparently fathered two kids while living in the Ecuador embassy.
So get him back. Let him stand trial. If hes guilty put the noose on his neck.

The court issued a formal extradition order in a hearing Wednesday, leaving UK Home Secretary Priti Patel to rubber-stamp his transfer to the US after [link=https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/24/europe/wikileaks-julian-assange-appeal-extradition-intl-gbr/index.html]a years-long legal wrangle.[/link] Assange is able to appeal the decision.
He is wanted in the US on 18 criminal charges after WikiLeaks published thousands of classified files and diplomatic cables in 2010. If convicted, Assange faces up to 175 years in prison.
