• White House Correspondents Dinner 2018

Posted by 100574 on April 28, 2018 at 10:07 pm

that comic hit all the liars tonight–Kelly CONway and Sarah Huckabee Sanders is “like what’s uncle Tom but for white woman who disappoint other white woman”
sooooo on point and the big whine bucket threw his female staffers under the bus while he went to PA to hear cheers from a questionable audience–like didn’t they already out the truth on the black guy with the Blacks for Trump t-shirt

That comic that you think was so clever is now getting serious pushback from the press that were there. They realize that what she did was continue to reinforce to the public what they think of the media.

she was funny–she did her thing–the GOP hacks couldn’t take it and Don the Con ran away
it was so funny when she did a Christie joke -then the camera showed him who had the expression on his face as I am still a target and then he shoved a spoon of food down his throat–so much for lap band success

and I just love that she had #TrumpIsSoBroke trending–he is so broke he lloked for foreign oil in Don, Jr’s hair
she should have said –he is so broke he pretended to be John Barron and called up Forbes with lies

The one thing no autocrat can tolerate, and this is especially true of our dime store Mussolini and his factotum, is to be Laughed at. Nothing cuts deeper than truth that pierces the lies and pretensions with laughter. Autocrats and their followers are always victims. Ask them.  [strike][/strike]( Steve Schmidt)
First question at the WH briefing should be: Sarah, considering how you may have felt during the comedy routine at the WHCA dinner last night, can you understand how offensive the Presidents words about Muslims, Mexicans, women, paralympians, Chuck Todd are? Will he stop?[strike][/strike]( Dan Shapiro)

It is called a roast after all, isn’t it?

I didn’t watch but the majority who were offended seem to be the Kilmeade Fox & Friends types. These are the ‘fake media’ alternative reality types anyway. Trying to get the Fox & Trump supporters audience & their types to see reality is a lost cause.

I can understand that is sucks to just have someone try and play into you, deserved or not.
I had to watch because I saw the uproar. I saw the Huckabee stuff and thought she had a couple of funny quips but overall as a comedy roast it was flat.

It wasn’t totally unfunny. Like the joke about being 32 so she was 20 years too old for Roy Moore was good. As a comedian it’s not something I was wowed by. It’s kind of like Seinfeld. Some people hate him. I’ve seen him before and his delivery is just good.

Its time to end it:

Margaret Sullivan: It never has been a particularly good idea for journalists to don their fanciest clothes and cozy up to the people they cover, alongside Hollywood celebrities who have ventured to wonky Washington to join the fun. But in the current era, its become close to suicidal for the presss credibility.

Trust in the mainstream media is low, a new populism has caught fire all over the Western world, and President Trump constantly pounds the news media as a bunch of out-of-touch elites who dont represent the interests of real Americans.

The annual dinner or at least the optics of the dinner seem to back him up.

I agree, optics bad. Journalists should not be too cozy with the politicians, especially these days. Although several years ago Colbert did some excellent skewering of the politicians and the stenographer “journalists” taking dictation from the politicians during the Bush Administration. The audience, press and politicos, did not appreciate him that day either, even though he was spot on. The press was so upset there were rumors of a media blackout.

Deja vu all over again.

The credibility of the press was trashed when they became cheerleaders for the Iraq War and continues as some outlets spread propaganda and actual lies in the advance of a specific political party, specifically Fox News being the poster boy for this. Our PRAVDA.

The ironic part is that outlets like American Pravda and the Administration supporters then complain about the other press credibility as they spread their “alternative facts.”

Finally got around to watch the entire set. This may have worked in a late night comedy club, it wasn’t right for the venue. Some of the jokes work better on paper without her shrill delivery.

From the “wrong messenger” department: Jason Miller is on CNN criticizing Wolf making a joke about Sanders’ appearance.

The guy who who texted about Conway’s “shriveled up fun bags” is calling someone our for a joke about appearance?!

the smokey eye joke was not about her looks—-and many on the right don’t do the homework and trace the origin of the joke which leads to when Scaramucci joined and DECIDED Sarah needed a makeover and hence the smokey eye look–the facts–those easy little things that Trump/Kelly Anne and Sarah ignore everyday

Every time Sarah steps up to the podium, I get excited, because Im not really sure what were going to get. You know, a press briefing, a bunch of lies or divided into softball teams. Its shirts and skins, and this time dont be such a little b-, Jim Acosta!   [strike][/strike]–this was funny

And Im never really sure what to call Sarah Huckabee Sanders, you know? Is it Sarah Sanders, is it Sarah Huckabee Sanders, is it Cousin Huckabee, is it Auntie Huckabee Sanders? Whats Uncle Tom but for white women who disappoint other white women? Oh, I know. Aunt Coulter.–Price less
Fox News is here. So you know what that means, ladies. Cover your drinks. Seriously. People want me to make fun of Sean Hannity tonight, but I cannot do that. This dinner is for journalists.

People call Trump names all the time. And look, I could call Trump a racist or a misogynist or xenophobic or unstable or incompetent or impotent. But hes heard all of those, and he doesnt care. So tonight, Im going to try to make fun of the president in a new way, in a way that I think will really get him. Mr. President: I dont think youre very rich. Like, I think you might be rich in Idaho, but in New York youre doing fine.
You guys are obsessed with Trump. Did you use to date him? Because you pretend like you hate him, but I think you love him. I think what no one in this room wants to admit is that Trump has helped all of you. He couldnt sell steaks or vodka or water or college or ties or Eric. But he has helped you. Hes helped you sell your papers and your books and your TV. You helped create this monster, and now youre profiting off of him. And if youre going to profit off of Trump, you should at least give him some money, because he doesnt have any. [strike][/strike][strike][/strike]

as long as we have a thin skinned orange man as chief then there should be an annual dinner–we should never cancel an event because a President can’t take it–Grow up–he attacks everyone– what she did was she outed a bully( her comments about Jim Acosta–well Sarah and Spicer have treated him worse)

Biden.

Any other speculation is plain crazy silliness. Haters gonna hate him regardless of anything.

If he announces hes not running, hes an automatic lame duck for the next 2.5 years. Manchin would have even less reason to agree with anything Democratic. And guaranteed loss in midterms.

You might as well cheerlead for Trump today & give the show away to Trump & Trumper Republicans.

The reality is simple, Biden or the cliff with all the Q lemmings.

Unless you have a solution not seen by anyone else?

This is the first time the president has attended this dinner in six years. Its understandable. We had a horrible plague followed by two years of Covid.

President Biden, quoted by [link=https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/may/01/a-horrible-plague-then-covid-biden-and-correspondents-joke-in-post-trump-return-to-normality]The Guardian[/link], at the White House Correspondents dinner.

So who are you gonna run for president in 2024 ?

I still think Biden will be a voluntary one termer.   He has a bout a year after the mid-terms to decide, but if he does opt out it will be a free for all.

I continue to believe that Harris will struggle to get the nomination, even as sitting VP.

I’d like Pete Buttigieg with Corey Booker (or if she wins in GA, Stacey Abrams) as VP.

Some lines from Trevor Noahs bit:

The great chef José Andrés is here tonight. Whenever theres a disaster anywhere in the world, chef José is there, which I guess is why hes sitting at the CNN table tonight.

The real reason that its such an honor to be here tonight is that we all get to be in the same room as the most powerful man in the United States. So lets give it up for Joe Manchin, everybody.

President Bidens lack of a filter does get him into hot water sometimes. Last month, he caused a huge international incident saying that Vladimir Putin should be removed from power. It was very, very upsetting to Russia until someone explained to them that none of the stuff Biden wants actually gets done.

Apparently, Jeff [Zucker] got fired after he tried to keep his workplace relationship secret, which is weird because if he really didnt want anyone to know about it, he could have just made a show about it on CNN+. Its so sad. CNN+, gone but forgotten.
