I will attempt to be cautiously optimistic. This could be a very big deal.

Of course, it could also be a fiasco….. and I hold low expectations for diplomatic results from team Trump.  And if Kushner is somehow driving the bus then the likelihood of “fiasco” far outweighs that that of “breakthrough”

No matter who was making this effort, it should viewed as a long shot. On three separate occasions the U.S. have given concessions to NK, which they took, and then later found some pretext for leaving the negotiating table.

I am fully willing to applaud Trump if he somehow gets NK to denuclearize and stick to it.  That would be, if successful, by far the largest accomplishment of his Presidency.

I would also add, that if this had been announced by Obama there would already be a 3 page AM thread comparing him Chamberlain and lots of all-caps “APPEASEMENT!” posts.

Two scenarios I see here. Trump can somehow get the DPRK to become a good actor, give up arms, join the rest of the world.

The other one he manipulates Donald’s ego.

        – Trump hands him an map of his electoral victory

        – Kim’s invites him to play golf

        – Kim tanks the match (we all know he can shoot an 18)

        – then him and Donald are BFFs and he has Donald hook, line and sinker.

        – Trump Tower Pyong Chang and Trump International Golf Course are built

Yep. The North Koreans will stroke Trump’s ego. They will publically declare that it was Trump’s brilliant pressure campaign that brought them to the table.

They will take the awesome propaganda photo-ops and good PR that comes from an equal footing meeting with the President of the United States at a summit.

Then… most likely … they will go back to doing what they have always done.   I can’t see how the Kim regime calculus on nucs is any different this morning than it was yesterday. NK views nuclear weapons as the primary reason their regime continues to exist.  If they denuclearize, then regime change becomes more likely.

Again, I will allow the process and cheer Trump if he succeeds, but I have low expectations.

[b]North Korea Isnt Giving Up Its Nuclear Arsenal[/b][/h1]
[link=https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/20/us/politics/biden-north-korea-nuclear-weapons.html?action=click&module=Top%20Stories&pgtype=Homepage]New York Times[/link]: The staying power of Pyongyangs nuclear arsenal highlights an uncomfortable truth for Mr. Biden as he prepares to greet President Moon Jae-in of South Korea at the White House on Friday. Mr. Moon has said denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is a matter of survival for his country, and he has called on Mr. Biden to revive negotiations.

But North Koreas arsenal of nuclear weapons and its stockpile of fuel have roughly doubled in the past four years, a steady rise that proceeded even as President Donald J. Trump held high-drama meetings with Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader. The best unclassified estimates are that the North has at least 45 nuclear weapons, and appears headed to an arsenal roughly the size of Pakistans, another nuclear state the United States once demanded must disarm, and now has all but given up that it ever will. For the North, that has always been a model to follow.

all Trump really did was make them look legitimate.  The only way that country is changing is to get a new regime that isn’t buck wild crazy.  Maybe the best policy is to just ignore them.

“Buck wild crazy” is what keeps Kim in power.

I don’t think he’s doing something other presidents couldn’t do but rather they would not do it. I think it’s more likely what Dergon is saying and that this could just be more propaganda. The DPRK has people brainwashed. So he comes back with some photos of him and Trump and all the sudden it’s the USA bending to Kim’s might.

I’d add it’s like an off the cuff decision on Trump’s part and not one that was discussed with Tillerson etc…

We shall see. The odds of something fruitful coming from a meeting with someone like Jong Un are low, but this is certainly not the chaos about which Leftist media fear-mongered after Trump’s tweets re: North Korea.

Trump loves authoritarian dictators. He & Kim will get along very well especially if Kim gives Donald a parade. Photo-ops of shoulder patting & smiles then Donald will announce “It was a great meeting, a beautiful meeting.”

                Trump’s going to get suckered.

The unconditional meeting now has conditions. Based on the new conditions listed for meeting Rocket Man it looks like someone explained to our dear leader what a mistake he made agreeing to the meeting.

Annnd… as might have been expected .. here’s the backpedal:

[link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2018/03/09/white-house-says-trump-kim-meeting-contingent-on-concrete-verifiable-actions-by-pyongyang/?utm_term=.263b637fa716]White House says Trump-Kim meeting contingent on concrete, verifiable actions by Pyongyang[/link]

President Trump will insist on concrete, verifiable actions from North Korea before holding a promised summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the White House said Friday, adding conditions and a note of skepticism to the buoyant mood that surrounded the surprise announcement the night before.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders repeated the insistence on concrete, verifiable steps several times, and asserted that the United States had given up no leverage in agreeing to hold the unprecedented meeting.

They’ve got to follow through on the promises that theyve made, and we want to see concrete and verifiable actions, Sanders said. The president has accepted that invitation on the basis that we see concrete and verifiable steps.

She was vague about exactly what that meant, and whether the United States would scrap the meeting if North Korea does not take actions toward getting rid of its nuclear weapons.

Maybe that’s because Leftists like you have been *****ing about Trump’s agreement to meet with Kim Jong Un, on the basis of the latter being a “tin-pot dictator.” It also could be a power move to show Jong Un which side holds the greater power in these talks.

It’s more a power move on Kim’s part. They’ve been trying to get to the table with the USA in the past. In their minds It legitimizes them on the world stage.

That’s funny…that from the six time bankruptcy declaree, three wives (all of whom he has cheated on) lifelong con-artist who created Trump university then settled for 25 million when it was publicly declared a fraud by the courts, currently being investigated by a member [i][b]of his own party[/b][/i], and currently being sued by a porn star, whose taped interview with “60 Minutes” most likely will air sunday, and is most likely the impetus behind today’s firing of the Secretary of State, the under-secretary of state, and Trump’s personall assistant, all of whom were fired within 2-3 hours of each other.

Boggles my mind that [i][b]anyone [/b][/i]defends Trump anymore.  And, if anyone is actively defending Trump anymore, it says more about them than it does about Trump.

Who needs defending? He’s accomplished more than any of the liars you ever supported for your whole lifetime, and he did it in 1 year with all of Washington and even the Deep State against him.

What’s defending got to do with it? The accomplishments speak for themselves, which is why you hate him, unjustly — precisely as you point out — as an example of irony from a loser who still thinks pantsuits was ahead in the polls.

Reality hurts for people like you.

You drink the Koolaid.  Trump say he’s accomplished something with North Korea, right?  All the Trump fan boys are ready to give him a peace prize.  Yet what has he accomplished?  Nothing.  I think he has unrealistic expectation that suddenly they’re just going to denuclearize after one meeting.  When the reality is really what experts predicted.  We see the same behavior from DPRK.  All the while we legitimize them with BS like printing a challenge coin with Jong and Trump on it (Trump’s vanity).

or wait he appointed a SCOTUS.  Congrats Trump.  You had the majority in Congress and they’re not stonewalling Obama’s legitimate pick for SCOTUS.  Even Mitch Mc is giving up on actually legislation and looking to just make lifetime appointments to the judiciary.

Do you seriously want the list? You just don’t like the wins. Scott Adams talks about this all the time, the accomplishments are undeniable the  reality is that Trump’s opponents don’t argue that they exist, it’s that they don’t want them to exist so in their delusional world they don’t exist.

I will attempt to be cautiously optimistic. This could be a very big deal.

Of course, it could also be a fiasco….. and I hold low expectations for diplomatic results from team Trump.

Oh, you mean the team that has managed to do what prior presidents haven’t? I guess the SWPL NPR-listening life is easier, right dergon? Cluck about problems on TV and radio, but never actually [b][i]do [/i][/b]anything about them.

I am fully willing to applaud Trump if he somehow gets NK to denuclearize and stick to it.  That would be, if successful, by far the largest accomplishment of his Presidency.

[b]CIA assessment: North Korea won’t denuclearize but might open a burger chain as concession to Trump[/b]

A new U.S. intelligence assessment has concluded that North Korea does not intend to give up its nuclear weapons any time soon, three U.S. officials told [link=https://nbcnews.to/2IUxxuQ]NBC News[/link] a finding that conflicts with recent statements by President Trump that Pyongyang intends to do so in the future.

President Trump is continuing to pursue a nuclear summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un even though the CIA analysis, which is consistent with other expert opinion, casts doubt on the viability of Trumps stated goal for the negotiations, the elimination of North Koreas nuclear weapons stockpile.

In an odd twist, a list of potential concessions by North Korea in the CIA analysis included the possibility that Kim Jong Un may consider offering to open a Western hamburger franchise in Pyongyang as a show of goodwill.

Not sure if anyone’s heard/seen any Trump news conference snipets.  It would appear that he was talking about how great the real estate opportunities could be.  Great beaches, nice condos and hotels.  Guess he’s looking forward to Trump Hotel DPRK.

Yes, the key to all of this, real estate in North Korea and the Far East and riches and clothing & trademarks in China for Ivanka in a trade for America to give up our influence and power because it “is too expensive.”

So all a country has to do to get attention and concessions is develop and keep nuclear weapons – unlike Gaddafi. The takeaway lesson for all the poor countries in the world ruled by authoritarian dictators. And Iran.

There in lies the difference in Obama vs Trump.
Trump is a leader that remained true to his conviction.
Obama put his mom jeans on and cowered to the Right.

                1. Trump has a 24 hr plan

                2. Obama had a 100year plan

And he had his “Dad” jeans on with Iran and the Right only opposed everything. After all, McConnell’s oath was to give 100% opposition to Obama at which he did succeed. So you can’t applaud the 100% opposition & then whine about Obama’s “Mom jeans.”

One thing I do notice about the Right is people like IR and the rest of the AM Right-wing posters have sexist issues always phrasing things in weak feminine terms and strong masculine ones. A common sly insult is to refer to someone as “she.” Armchair warriors worried about their own masculinity? Oh the women of the world, afraid of everything & wanting to hug things out. All they need is a strong man to tell them what to do; something they all really want, right?

“And when youre a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab em by the p*ssy. You can do anything.”

Real men aren’t afraid to threaten nuclear war. Why have them if you can’t use them.

Please let’s do notice, nothing has been decided or agreed to except Trump has agreed to stop war exercises as a gift to Kim and China and he has elevated Kim to an equal all while Kim and china have given nothing and promised nothing. So don’t count your chickens before they hatch. This is a PR nothingburger so far.

Is Trump a better Reagan? So far a big NOT! He has nothing to show except to make enemies of our allies and cuddling up to authoritarian dictators in the world with whom he shows a real rapport. He shows animosity with and to democratic leaders.

An optimistic take on Donald Trumps historic meeting Tuesday with Kim Jong-un is that its Geneva Redux a reprise of the 1985 summit between Ronald Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev that established their rapport, fundamentally altered the tenor of relations between the superpowers and led within a few years to the end of the Cold War.

Lets hope so. Because another take is that its the Plaza Redux, meaning [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/17/business/what-donald-trumps-plaza-deal-reveals-about-his-white-house-bid.html]the 1988 real estate debacle[/link] in which Trump hastily purchased New Yorks Plaza Hotel because it looked like an irresistible trophy, only to be forced to sell it at a loss a few years later as part of a brutal debt restructuring.

Could the same scenario unfold with North Korea? Probably not for reasons that would have been obvious to most conservatives before their current Trump derangement.

First, Trump isnt Reagan. Reagan generally acted in concert with allies. Trump brazenly acts against them. Reagans negotiation method: Trust but verify. Trumps self-declared method: My touch, my feel. Reagan refused to give in to Soviet demands that he abandon the Strategic Defense Initiative. Trump surrendered immediately to Pyongyangs long-held insistence that the U.S. suspend military exercises with South Korea while getting nothing in return. Reagans aim was to topple Communist Party rule in Moscow. Trumps is to preserve it in Pyongyang.

Second, Kim isnt Gorbachev. Gorbachev was born into a family that suffered acutely the horrors of Stalinism. Kim was born into a family that starved its own people. Gorbachev rose through the ranks as a technocrat with no background in the regimes security apparatus. Kim consolidated his rule by murdering his uncle, half brother and various ministers, among other unfortunates. Gorbachev came to office intent on easing political repression at home and defusing tensions with the West. Kim spent his first six years doing precisely the opposite.

Kim’s biggest concern is not to feed his people but to get sanctions removed without doing a damned thing except maybe symbolic. He fears his military and a coup. Any giveaways to Trump could open himself up to a coup so he’s not likely to give away the crown jewels easily because ti is the crown jewels that got him to the table as an equal in the 1st place.

So apparently he saluted a North Korean general which is like the highlight real of a documentary the DPRK has already produced.

Also there’s a great snipet of video from Fox in which Trump starts talking about bringing home Sons from Korea, and seemingly implying all the parents have been asking him to repatriate those remains.  As reporters are pointing out and most people can just do the math, these Korean war parents would be in the 100s in terms of age.  I’m just reminded of the KAC collusion/delusion segment on TV.  I’d say there’s a strong chance of both Collusion and delusion with DJT.

[b]US asked the Japanese to nominate Trump for Nobel Prize [/b]

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe reportedly nominated [link=https://thehill.com/people/donald-trump]President Trump[/link] for the Nobel Peace Prize on the request of the U.S. government.

Reuters, citing a report from the Japanese newspaper Asahi, [link=https://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-usa-trump-japan/japans-pm-nominated-trump-for-nobel-peace-prize-on-us-request-asahi-idUSKCN1Q6041]noted that the U.S. government[/link] reached out to Abe months after the president’s summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore.

An unidentified Japanese government official told the newspaper about the request, according to Reuters.

The report came after [link=https://thehill.com/policy/international/430221-trump-says-japanese-pm-nominated-him-for-nobel-peace-prize]Trump claimed on Friday[/link] that Abe had nominated him for a Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts to reach a peace agreement with North Korea.

“In fact, I think I can say this. Prime Minister Abe of Japan gave me the most beautiful copy of a letter that he sent to the people who give out a thing called the Nobel [Peace] Prize,” Trump said while speaking at the White House Rose Garden. “He said, ‘I have nominated you respectfully on behalf of Japan. I am asking them to give you the Nobel Peace Prize.’ ”

…except for the fact that Kim has seen his status dramatically elevated on the world stage.

Correct. We’ve been giving and the DPRK has been taking.

            – we’ve conceded that a murderous dictator is a great guy
            – looks like we’ll be stopping our war games
            – we’ve conceded on the full accounting of their nuclear program.
            – we’ve elevated them to the world stage

            In return we got nothing.

Also he’s backpedaling his butt on Twitter. He was misinterpreted and holds the DPRK accountable. He loves Otto.

[/b] But Mr. Trumps offer was essentially the same deal that the United States has pushed and the North has rejected for a quarter century. Intelligence agencies had warned him, publicly, Mr. Kim would not be willing to give up the arsenal completely. North Korea itself had said repeatedly that it would only move gradually.

Several of Mr. Trumps own aides, led by national security adviser John R. Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, thought the chances of a grand bargain for total nuclear disarmament were virtually zero. Some questioned whether the summit meeting should go forward.

Mr. Trump disagreed. He had taken to showing what he called Mr. Kims beautiful letters to visitors to the Oval Office, as evidence he had built a rapport with one of the worlds most brutal dictators. While some in the White House worried Mr. Trump was being played, the president seemed entranced even declaring we fell in love.’

[url=http://thehill.com/policy/international/395925-north-korea-says-talks-with-pompeo-regrettable-report]North Korea says talks with Pompeo “regrettable”[/url]

North Korea is reportedly criticizing talks with Secretary of State [link=http://thehill.com/people/mike-pompeo]Mike Pompeo[/link], calling the two days of meetings that ended Saturday regrettable.

An unnamed spokesman for the North Korean Foreign Ministry in a statement accused the U.S. of unilaterally pressuring North Korea to denuclearize and betraying the spirit of the summit between [link=http://thehill.com/people/donald-trump]President Trump[/link] and Kim Jong Un last month, [link=https://apnews.com/628db42343bf402fa69f0500644a7293?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=AP&utm_campaign=SocialFlow&__twitter_impression=true&__twitter_impression=true&__twitter_impression=true]according to the Associated Press[/link].

The statement said the discussions with Pompeo were very concerning, and suggested that the regime is no longer as willing to give up its nukes as it had previously been.Pompeo offered a differing view of the two days of talks, telling reporters that the conversations were productive, “in good faith,” and that a great deal of progress had been made, [link=https://apnews.com/805d302b95704d2e8644f28876ac1be8/Pompeo-wraps-up-talks-in-N.-Korea-without-seeing-Kim-Jong-Un]according to the AP[/link]

Next we are going to see some “winnninggg!” with Putin.

First thing we can win is repeal of the Magnitsky Act! That will show Puitn who is boss! Putin will learn he can’t just murder journalists and his critics with impunity. Or invade other countries like Crimea. And Ukraine. And the Baltic States. That went out of style with the “liberation” of the Sudetenland in 1938. Not as long as Trump is around. Trump is NOT today’s version of Neville Chamberlain!

But the expression [link=https://www.nytimes.com/2017/02/18/opinion/new-yalta.html]new Yalta[/link] [link=https://www.cnn.com/2017/01/25/opinions/putin-wants-yalta-2-0-and-trump-may-give-it-to-him-ghitis/index.html]has been kicking around[/link] ever since this administration arrived in Washington. Its an idea the Russians like enormously, because it implies that they are once again a superpower, once again Americas equal, once again sitting down at the table to divide up the world. For Putin, its a key part of his domestic strategy: As a leader without the legitimacy conferred by democracy, he needs to constantly prove to his countrymen that he deserves to rule. For the United States, the advantages are much murkier. Rumors of what kind of deal might be on the table are proliferating nevertheless.

Some of them involve Ukraine. Trump and his national security adviser have both hinted that recognition of the Russian occupation of Crimea is on the table; Trump [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/democracy-post/wp/2018/07/03/donald-trumps-talking-points-on-crimea-are-the-same-as-vladimir-putins/]even repeats[/link] Russian propaganda about Crimeas ethnicity and politics. Another [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/global-opinions/is-trump-handing-putin-a-victory-in-syria/2018/06/28/a853657a-7b14-11e8-93cc-6d3beccdd7a3_story.html]was laid out[/link] in The Post by David Ignatius a few days ago: Trump may be planning to cede Syria to Putin, abandon U.S. allies on the ground and allow Russias client, the dictator, Bashar al-Assad, to reestablish control across the country, inflicting massive civilian casualties along the way.

In both Ukraine and Syria, the situation is extremely odd: The United States still, in theory, the stronger power appears to be negotiating to give up quite a lot in exchange for very little. [b]The only explanation for U.S. determination to make a lopsided deal is Trump himself. Perhaps he has learned from his experience negotiating with North Korea: In [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/global-opinions/wp/2018/06/12/a-fantastic-meeting-for-trump-and-kim/?utm_term=.528e22dee7a4]Singapore[/link] he endorsed a dictator, got nothing except unenforceable promises and then came home to a heros welcome from Fox News. [u]Or perhaps he still feels he owes something, after all, to the man who helped him win the presidency. [/u][/b]

But as we know from Republicans and Trump, Putin is  “real man,” a “real strong leader!”

And maybe it’s simpler than all this speculation about “golden showers” tape. Maybe is’s just money. Without Russian money, Trump might be selling golden pencils on a New York City street corner now. A little tainted money and doing favors selling out America to Putin is a small price to pay for being rich with Russian money.

President Trump on Thursday defended North Korean leader Kim Jong Un over the death of American college student Otto Warmbier, whose family says he was brutally tortured while imprisoned in North Korea and died in 2017 after being flown back to United States in a coma.

The president condemned the brutality of the North Korean regime following Warmbiers death at 22 years old, but he took a softer stance toward Kim at the conclusion of their second summit.

I don’t believe he would have allowed that to happen, Trump said. It just wasn’t to his advantage to allow that to happen.

Trump said that he spoke to Kim about the death of Warmbier whose family has called it a murder and that Kim feels badly about it. He said the North Korea leader, who rules the country with an iron grip, knew about the case but learned about it only after the fact because, Trump suggested, top leadership might not have been involved.

He tells me he didn’t know about it, and I take him at his word, Trump said.

North Korea’s Foreign Minister held a midnight press conference to dispute US President Donald Trump’s account of why the two sides had failed to strike a deal at the Hanoi summit.

North Korean Foreign Minister Ri Jong-ho said North Korea sought the partial lifting of United Nations’ sanctions in return for the dismantling of the Yongbyon nuclear reactor.

Ri said North Korea was willing to pledge in writing to permanently end nuclear and long-range missile tests.

He said the US had demanded “one more” measure beyond Yongbyon that North Korea was not willing to accept.

North Korea’s offer will not change even if the US seeks further talks, he said.

A North Korean official had also told reporters that Kim Jong-un may have lost the will for further talks. “Chairman Kim got the feeling that he didn’t understand the way Americans calculate,” the official said.

Even MBS and Putin and all the other autocrats have dedicated followers who do the same. That is the nauseating part. Trump envies these people and wants to be them. All his life he’s been a wannabe. He is still a wannabe.

                      The Warmbier’s response:

[i]”We have been respectful during this summit process. Now we must speak out.

And, never missing an opportunity to look like evasive d*cks, the White House, through Kellyanne Conway, responds to the Warmbiers:

[i]The president agrees with the Warmbier family and holds North Korea responsible for Otto Warmbiers death. But what [Trump] said was that Chairman Kim says, what he believes Chairman Kim to have said, was that he was not aware of what had happened to Otto Warmbier when it happened.

[b]Trump blames Cohen hearings for failure of NK nuclear summit [/b]

“For the Democrats to interview in open hearings a convicted liar & fraudster, at the same time as the very important Nuclear Summit with North Korea, is perhaps a new low in American politics and may have contributed to the walk. Never done when a president is overseas. Shame!”

Trumps account on Sunday differed from his explanation last week, when the president said that he walked out of talks with Kim because the North Korean leaders request for sanctions relief was unacceptable.

It remains unclear whether the Cohen hearing affected Trumps thinking or Kims leverage. The White House didnt immediately respond to request for comment on how the hearing contributed to the failure to reach an agreement.

North Korean state TV reportedly aired a propaganda-like documentary recapping Kim Jong Un’s summit last week with [link=https://thehill.com/people/donald-trump]President Trump[/link].

[link=https://apnews.com/a0a1ea2d8ab949b5a5a5ebe5e7debd83]The Associated Press reported[/link] that the documentary glorified Kim’s trip to Hanoi, Vietnam, and left out the failure between him and Trump to reach an agreement in denuclearization talks.

The video described the summit as “yet another meaningful incident on the issue of world peace,” according to the AP.

Footage shows Kim waving from a limousine as residents lined the streets of Hanoi, and shows Kim and Trump walking and talking inside a hotel where negotiations took place, the AP reported. Part of the documentary also depicts Kim’s visit to the North Korean Embassy, where he greeted staff.

The documentary did not mention that Kim and Trump failed to come to a deal on the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula or sanctions relief for North Korea, the AP reported.

So if I’m reading correctly. We put additional sanctions on North Korea yesterday. And today Trump just said he ordered the reversal.

Another great WTF moment brought to you by team Trump.

            Yep. WTF

With a piece of paper, Trump called on Kim to hand over nuclear weapons[/h1]

On the day that their talks in Hanoi collapsed last month, U.S. President Donald Trump handed North Korean leader Kim Jong Un a piece of paper that included a blunt call for the transfer of Pyongyangs nuclear weapons and bomb fuel to the United States, according to the document seen by Reuters.
Trump gave Kim both Korean and English-language versions of the U.S. position at Hanois Metropole hotel on Feb. 28, according to a source familiar with the discussions, speaking on condition of anonymity. It was the first time that Trump himself had explicitly defined what he meant by denuclearization directly to Kim, the source said.

A lunch between the two leaders was canceled the same day. While neither side has presented a complete account of why the summit collapsed, the document may help explain it.

[b]Kim calls for US to “quit” it’s current approach to nuclear talks, calls offers floated by the U.S. “absolutely impractical,”[/b]

Kim said that he will wait “till the end of this year” for the U.S. to decide to be more flexible in negotiations, North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency reported Saturday, according to [link=https://www.reuters.com/article/us-northkorea-usa/north-koreas-kim-jong-un-gives-us-to-year-end-to-become-more-flexible-idUSKCN1RO2PI]Reuters[/link].

It is essential for the U.S. to quit its current calculation method and approach us with a new one, Kim was quoted as saying during a speech to the Supreme Peoples Assembly, the country’s rubber-stamp legislature.

Trump’s second summit with Kim, held in late February in Vietnam, ended abruptly while failing to produce any agreement for denuclearization following months of negotiations over the country’s missile and nuclear programs.

Their previous meeting last June in Singapore was hailed as an opportunity to establish goodwill but also did not produce a specific deal to lift sanctions in exchange for Pyongyang abandoning its nuclear and missile efforts.

Kim called offers floated by the U.S. “absolutely impractical,” arguing that the administration did “not really ready itself to sit with us face-to-face and settle the problem,” according to Reuters.

We will wait for a bold decision from the U.S. with patience till the end of this year but I think it will definitely be difficult to get such a good opportunity as the previous summit, Kim added.

    [h1]North Korea Resumes Public Executions[/h1]
North Korean authorities staged a public trial and shot two female fortune tellers to death last month, forcing tens of thousands of people to watch, in what appeared to be a resumption of public executions, [link=https://www.rfa.org/english/news/korea/executions-04102019175353.html]Radio Free Asia[/link] reports.

The executions of the two women took place in March in North Hamgyongs Chongjin city, and were aimed at forcing officials to stop patronizing fortune tellers and engaging in other superstitious behavior.

say what you want about Pompeo but I take him as a serious person.  Here’s the spinning from the DPRK.

“Therefore, even in the case of possible resumption of the dialogue with the US, I wish our dialogue counterpart would be not Pompeo but other person who is more careful and mature in communicating with us.”

They conducted some kind of weapons test.  Great relationship we have going.

Trump promised to pay North Korea the “bill” for $2 million to pay for the medical care of Otto Warmbier!??

But Kim is a good man & obviously did not know about any possible mistreatment of Warmbier! Kim felt “really badly” about Warmbier’s condition!

North Korea issued a $2 million bill for the hospital care of comatose American Otto Warmbier, insisting that a U.S. official sign a pledge to pay it before being allowed to fly the University of Virginia student from Pyongyang in 2017.

The presentation of the invoice not previously disclosed by U.S. or North Korean officials was extraordinarily brazen even for a regime known for its aggressive tactics.

But the main U.S. envoy sent to retrieve Warmbier signed an agreement to pay the medical bill on instructions passed down from President Trump, according to two people familiar with the situation.

The Warmbiers have blamed Kim for their sons death, but Trump has said he believes the North Korean leaders claims that he did not know about the students treatment.

Only the single thing the US wants from North Korea. With that off the table what is there to negotiate?

Seems to be the new negotiating position. Israel won’t negotiate with Palestinians until and unless the Palestinians give up on all their demands first. And yesterday Trump won’t negotiate with Democrats until Democrats give up on all of their positions first.

and Kim got a marked elevation of his presence on the world stage, tons of fodder for his domestic propaganda machine to cement his regime, cessation of training exercises with a key ally, and gave up nothing but some old bones.

Interesting reporting out there tonight. Kim Jon Un is supposedly in critical condition after a surgery. Supposedly the US intelligence believes this and he was absent from some big event there. Supposedly botched cardiac procedure, in coma. Although who knows.

not sure.  I had read that they were flying in foreign doctors.  That being said it’s North Korea.  So who really knows.  I think it’s a strong sign somethings wrong because they said he wasn’t showing up at some big anniversary event.  Unless the US is being fed info from a reliable source inside the republic…. I think China came out and said it’s not true and so did the DPRK.  However, I don’t trust the Chinese and the DPRK is for sure not trustworthy.

[link=https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-56118936]BBC[/link]: Trumps second summit with Kim Jong-un, in Hanoi, Vietnam, did not go to plan. As negotiations over North Koreas nuclear programme broke down, Trump left abruptly, saying to the press: Sometimes you just have to walk.’

But before he departed, the then US president did make one astonishing offer to Kim.

Matthew Pottinger, the top Asia expert on Trumps National Security Council told us: President Trump offered Kim a lift home on Air Force One. The president knew that Kim had arrived on a multi-day train ride through China into Hanoi and the president said: I can get you home in two hours if you want. Kim declined.

Donald Trump praised North Koreas brutal leader while addressing GOP donors marveling at how Kim Jong Uns generals and aides cowered when the dictator spoke to them, the [link=https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2022/03/06/trump-focuses-foreign-policy-speech-gops-top-donors/]Washington Post[/link] reports.

Said Trump: Total control. His people were sitting at attention.

He added: I looked at my people and said I want my people to act like that.

It can’t happen here. 1930’s all over again, Fascism looks good to conservatives. Just ignore the Jewish thing – if not for that little thing… Or today’s race and LGBTQ issues.
