  • Studying for the Certifying Exam

Posted by radiotamizh9629_575 on January 14, 2021 at 8:38 am

    Hey all,

Did an abdominal fellowship, and I am taking the certifying exam in April. I’ll probably do GI, GU, and either general or US for my three sections. Can anyone go over what they used to study (IF they studied)? I’m going over some older threads and it seems like Board Vitals is a good resource. I was thinking of doing that, War Machine for physics, and obviously the ABR NIS packet. Maybe this is overkill in itself, but I love overkill. Thanks for all thoughts!

Just do those; it is more than enough. Most dont have time to study and it seems everyone passes. Youll be fine.

Yes. Fellowship comes after residency. April would be over 15 months. You are correct!

I did radprimer questions only. I studied throughout fellowship, so I just needed questions as a refresher. Most sourcees made it seem like everyone passes the certifying exam, so I wasn’t worried about that part. However, some people did not get the nucs qualification and that is what I was worried about not attaining. I studied nucs for the 5-10 questions that I got on the certifying exam… I didnt/dont plan on needing the qualification, but wanted to have it just in case.

          ‘Huh?
How is it 15 months after residency completion in April?

Am I in some alternative timeline? Graduated residency in 7/2020…15months later should be 10/2021 no?

Any IR folks planning on taking the April exam? Anyone waiting until they announce the IR/DR exam? I’m thinking about just getting it over in April and doing all 3 sections IR (I’m in a 100% practice) but wanted to get a sense for what others are doing.

I recently finished IR fellowship, IR/DR practice is 50-50 bread and butter IR, would like to hear other’s thoughts on how to prepare? Any recommendations on taking 2 IR and 1 Body (GU US etc)?
