  • Starting supervision of mobile xray unit

    Hi
Recently took on a job as supervising physcian for local company starting mobile xray imaging (Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility under Medicare).
Job duties for IDTF supervising physician per medicare
[ul][*]Direct and ongoing oversight of quality of testing performed[*]Proper operation and calibration of equipment used to perform tests[*]Qualifications of non-physician IDTF personnel who use the equipment [/ul]

Looking for some guidance from someone who has/is doing this..

    1) What is the best solution to archive these obtained images/reports?  Right now downloading on secured USB device and delivering to the interpreting radiologist to read

    2) Does the supervising physician have any extra liability? Do you have to get any liablity insurance?

    thanks

Sounds dicey. I would definitely get liability insurance. And you have to archive the studies depending on regulations a certain amount of time, not sure how much. Sounds like you dove in headfirst and a bit in over your head. I hope the money is worth it for the risk you are taking

HIPPA can go a bit too far. Only resident I knew who got sued did so working for a such an outfit. Missed a hip fracture that I doubt anyone could see except the mad mal attorneys expert witness.

            Hi,

            thanks for the responses.

my job duty is to make sure the exam is done safely and images are stored securely…thats why I was asking for any recommendations on storage solutions for mobile xrays.

The interpreting radiologist is a separate board certified and licensed rad. He is responsible for his own liability insurance.

                Never trust someone named gank.

Supervising physician that doesnt know he needs liability insurance? Not sure if he is joking or just dense. I would stay far away from wherever this chop shop is.
