Download speeds are fine, but the latency isn’t great so the VR is a bit flaky.
Get fibre if available, but Starlink is better than ADSL down a copper phone line.

Use at our cottage on an island in north ontario

it’s better than the other options, but I certainly wouldn’t want to rely on it for a telerad gig

edit: I *do not* interpret images using Starlink.  This is purely for our routine home internet stuff.

For tele, always have a back up line. Internet service can fluctuate a lot esp in busy neighborhoods

I noticed voice recognition mistakes depending on internet quality. So latency is more important than bandwidth? I also expect decent upload to be important.

For some reason it seems like dictation on power scribe 360 only activates after some communication with an outside server, rather than immediately (which one might expect as the application is on your physical workstation and so is the mic). Its an odd problem and Im not sure if it exists for other VR set ups but I have consistently noticed it with doing telerad using PS360. Turn dictation on, wait 1-2 seconds, then start talking. Whatever you say in the first 2 seconds wont be picked up, and if you are mid sentence when the communication happens the dictation becomes garbled and incorrect. Interestingly, if you just leave dictation on for s long period, even after you sign a case and pick up a new case, there is no delay. So I just leave the mic ok sometimes for 30 min to an hour and work as normal. BUT you need no interruptions or other conversations around you to do this.

Yes, PS needs to ‘phone home’ at various points. Those lags appear to be on the report handling side, not the speech side. When you open the case PS first has to check whether someone else opened it at the same time and then locks it for all other users. It waits for the ‘go ahead’ from the server. In addition to your Internet connection, that lag also depends on how it is hooked up with the program that manages the worklist (RIS or PACS).

I’ve noticed a lag in PS dictating at home vs on site, in regards to the first few words of each sentence often get skipped.  If I say ‘there is” at beginning of each sentence it seems to pick this up without issue.  But stylistically, I hate this.  On site, seems to work fine.  My actual PACS is fantastic and might work faster at home, so I don’t think it is an “internet speed” issue.  Any ideas or settings I can alter.  I use “hot mic” and the mic is always on.

The dreaded deletion of the word “No” at the start of a sentence.

That’s a habit to break. Some rads don’t like the way their reports sound if they use the ‘There is’ style. Between templates and using ‘There is’ I haven’t had a problem with a ‘No’ omission in a while. My PS reports sound like they are generated by a autistic robot with the grammar skills of a 6 year old, but they are mostly correct.
